Nicki Minaj's husband, Kenneth "Zoo" Petty, could miss the birth of his first child if a judge doesn't step in.
Due to an ongoing criminal case, Kenneth's movements are currently restricted — he has a curfew and cannot leave Southern California. Those pretrial conditions haven't been an issue for him thus far, but he now fears that Nicki could go into labor and give birth outside his curfew hours. That, he argues in new legal documents obtained by TMZ, would make him miss a once-in-a-lifetime moment.
Kenneth is pleading for a judge to make an exception for him. He also wants to be able to travel with his wife periodically on business as her manager.
Nicki and Kenneth's romance proved to be very controversial early on, particularly given that he was a registered sex offender in New York for a 1995 first-degree attempted rape conviction. When he moved to California in 2019, he failed to register as a sex offender in the Golden State, which is required by law. Kenneth was eventually arrested over the registration oversight. His current legal issues stem from that case — to which he's pleaded not guilty.
An ankle monitor currently detects his movements in real time.
Kenneth argues in the new documents that the U.S. Attorney's Office and the pretrial services office do not oppose his request for the curfew exception, especially given what's at stake.
A judge has yet to sign off on the request, so Kenneth's hope to witness the birth is not a sure thing as of now.
Nicki announced her pregnancy earlier this month, but she's yet to indicate when she's due, although most believe she'll give birth in the fall.
