The ESPY Awards give the biggest stars of the sports world a chance to clean up and walk the red carpet. Wonderwall.com is taking a look at the most talked-about outfits of the night on July 18, 2018 — those who totally stunned us and those who are clearly red carpet rookies. We're kicking off the list with the night's host, Danica Patrick, who walked the red carpet before taking the stage in this one-shouldered black minidress with gold accents and gladiator heels. The combination of the race-car driver's footwear with the embellishments on the dress were overwhelming, plus the frock appeared to be too big — and unflattering — on her for our taste. Ciara clearly knows her way around a black-tie event. NFL star Russell Wilson's music-star wife showed everyone else how it's done in this body-hugging yellow gown, which was lined with a crisp, white fabric. The styling was excellent with her studded pumps, diamond earrings and sporty high ponytail.

Odell Beckham Jr. appeared to take his style inspiration from wallpaper. The New York Giants wide receiver's two-piece shorts suit was hard to look at for too long and the mini sunglasses were simply too much.

Allison Janney glowed in neutral-hued makeup and a casual updo, letting her larger-than-life oval-shaped diamond earrings steal the show.

Alison Brie walked the ESPYs red carpet in an outfit that looked like it was made out of scraps from a disco ball. While her makeup looked pretty, her metallic dress, which was a shade too close to her skin tone, was a miss.

From the front, it looks like Nastia Liukin's dress is the star of her look, but it turns out it's her hair. The gymnast rocked a long fishtail braid complete with pink and red roses woven in. Beautiful!

"Black Panther" star Chadwick Boseman was one of the best dressed men of the night at the 2018 ESPYs thanks to his crisp, clean white suit dressed down with sneakers and a white T.

Actress Eiza Gonzalez (who walked the red carpet without boyfriend Josh Duhamel) kept it classy in a strapless black column dress and added just a little pop of color to her look with a great pair of strappy stilettos.

Do blondes have more fun? Ask natural brunette Jessica Szohr, who rocked her dyed platinum-blonde locks in a center-parted low ponytail at the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles on July 18.

Professional wrestler Lana showed some skin at the 2018 ESPYs. The "Total Divas" star choose an orange gown that made her look like she got tangled in a cobweb. She might have looked like a diva, but the color and amount of skin shown was too much.

Adam Rippon looked as fierce on the red carpet as he does on the ice. The Olympic ice skater looked sharp in a perfectly tailored pair of black trousers and a white shirt, which he paired with an intricately embellished jacket. To top it off, he added a little extra bling with a set of bracelets and rings, which finished off the look perfectly.

Actress-singer Olivia Holt couldn't decide on a length for her ESPYs gown. The actress chose a confusing dress for the red carpet and complicated the whole look with overly dramatic eye makeup and slicked-back hair.

Aly Raisman has proven time and time again that her fashion sense is as sharp as her gymnastic skills — and this red carpet was no exception. The two-time Olympian looked white-hot in this simple gown with minimal embellishments. A winner yet again!

NFL player JuJu Smith-Schuster went wild on the ESPYs red carpet. The Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver chose an interesting, contrasting plaid shorts suit, which clashed not only with itself, but with the red carpet.

Winter and summer Olympic athlete Lolo Jones looked a bit sloppy on the ESPYs red carpet, which was held at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles. While her dress was pretty, the plunging V-neck and slit was too much. Not to mention her bed-head hair and too-dark eye makeup overpowered the look and made it feel messy.

Red is Sloane Stephens' color! The tennis player looked like a red carpet pro in this sleek suit san shirt. With minimal accessories and contrasting shoes, the best breakout athlete nominee looked ready to rock.

Ibtihaj Muhammad, the first Muslim-American woman to wear a hijab while competing for the U.S. in the Olympics, showed how beautiful a conservative dress can look. To finish the fencer's elegant black, flowery look, she rocked a dark eye and bright red lip that complemented her outfit.

NFL player Jalen Mills got the memo that red was the color to wear to this year's ESPYs, but when it came to executing the look, it got a little hairy. The Philadelphia Eagles cornerback chose to go shirtless under his vest, showing off too much of his tattooed chest for our taste.

Soccer star Alex Morgan chose a deep, dark look for the ESPYs and took it too far. The combination of this dress, lipstick and eye makeup gave her too much of a gothic feel, so much so that her bright smile couldn't even lighten the mood.
