2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards nominees' best recent style moments

In honor of the 2019 MTV Movie & TV Awards on June 17, Wonderwall.com is taking a look back at the nominees' best recent style moments. Let's start with Lupita Nyong'o, who had one of our favorite street style moments of the year so far when she visited the "Good Morning America" studios in New York City on March 19. The "Us" star — who scored nominations for best performance in a movie and best villain for her work in the Jordan Peele-directed thriller — sported a marigold Mansur Gavriel cashmere coat over a skirt and blouse from Prabal Gurung's Pre-Fall 2019 collection. Ravishing in red! Sandra Bullock hasn't been photographed publicly since late 2018, but boy did she close out the year with a bang! The "Bird Box" star — who scored nominations for best performance in a movie and most frightened performance for her work in the Netflix thriller — stunned in a Martin Grant gown with a midriff cut-out and an asymmetrical bustle at one hip at a screening of the horror flick in New York City on Dec. 17. Her blunt middle-part bob and red lips added to the look's overall drama.

Brie Larson slayed the style game throughout the "Avengers: Endgame" international press tour. Case in point? The eye-catching Rodarte gown that the "Captain Marvel" star — who scored a nomination for best hero for her performance in the action flick — donned during a fan event in Seoul, South Korea, on April 15. The unique royal-blue number featured sequined floral designs and a giant asymmetrical pink ruffle.

Zachary Levi raised temperatures while keeping warm in an all-burgundy look — a Dunhill suit, an Eidos coat, Christian Louboutin shoes and a tie from The Tie Bar — at a photo call for "Shazam!" in London on March 20. The funnyman, who's also hosting this year's MTV Movie & TV Awards, earned two nominations for his work in the superhero flick: best hero and best comedic performance.

Major menswear moment! Kiernan Shipka is known for her fun and feminine sense of style, which is why we were so obsessed with the Thom Browne suit that the "Chilling Adventures of Sabrina" star — who scored a nomination for best performance in a show for her work on the Netflix series — sported during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live in Hollywood on April 11.

Lady Gaga totally owned the 2019 Met Gala in New York City on May 6. The "A Star is Born" singer-actress — who scored a nomination for best performance in a movie for her work in the musical drama — started the evening in a voluminous hot pink Brandon Maxwell gown with an epic train and a matching oversized hair bow. Later, she stripped down to reveal three more looks.

Dan Levy looked white-hot at the FYC Screening of "Schitt's Creek" — for which he scored a nomination for best comedic performance — in Los Angeles on May 30. The funnyman was perfectly geek-chic in his signature wide-brim glasses and brown brogues, which he wore sans socks, naturally!

Emilia Clarke donned one of her best looks ever — a dazzling lavender Balmain number with an asymmetrical neckline — during the 2019 Oscars in Hollywood on Feb. 24. The "Game of Thrones" star — who scored a nomination for best performance in a show for her work on the HBO fantasy drama — topped off her look with Niwaka jewels: dainty diamond drop earrings and a wrist-crushing diamond bracelet.

Rami Malek knocked it out of the park at the Valentino Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2019 presentation during Paris Fashion Week on Jan. 23. The "Bohemian Rhapsody" star — who scored a nomination for best performance in a movie for his work in the biopic — sported an exceptionally well-tailored ensemble from the fashion house featuring all black pieces except for the fun black-and-white print button-down that peeped out at the neck.

Serena Williams topped many best dressed lists with the bright yellow Versace gown featuring pink leaf appliqués — a true work of art! — that she donned during the 2019 Met Gala in New York City on May 6. It was a major fashion moment for the tennis champ, who scored a nomination for best real life hero for her documentary "Being Serena."

Maisie Williams brought the drama to the New York City premiere of the eighth and final season of "Game of Thrones" — for which she scored a nomination for best hero — on April 3. The former child star looked all grown up in a black Miu Miu gown with a bustier top featuring a keyhole cutout and a skirt of tiered, embellished ruffles. She topped off her look with a black bow tied up in her lilac tresses.

John David Washington officially arrived in 2019 … and quickly developed a penchant for wearing fun, colorful suits! We especially loved the tan suit he wore with a black-and-white polka-dot button-down at a Deadline screening of "BlacKkKlansman" — for which he scored a nomination for best hero — in Los Angeles on Jan. 7.

Gina Rodriguez brought back animal print with a vengeance at a PaleyFest panel for the final seasons of "Jane the Virgin" and "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" in Los Angeles on March 20. The "Jane the Virgin" star — who scored a nomination for best performance in a show for her work on the telenovela — wisely paired her leopard-print pencil skirt with a simple black long-sleeved top and nude sandals for a purr-fectly pretty fashion moment.

Elisabeth Moss looked dreamy in Dior at a panel during SXSW in Austin, Texas, on March 10. The star of "The Handmaid's Tale" — who scored a nomination for best performance in a show for her work on the Hulu drama — played with textures, pairing a knit sweater with a full tulle skirt. She completed her ultra-feminine look by wearing her hair in soft waves and sporting pink lipstick and rosy cheeks.

Trevor Noah proved that sometimes the basics are best when he arrived at the Time 100 Gala in New York City on April 23 in a deep blue tuxedo with black lapels and a matching black bow tie. The funnyman scored a nomination for best host for his work on "The Daily Show."

Awkwafina, is that you?! The "Crazy Rich Asians" star — who earned nominations for best comedic performance and best breakthrough performance for her work in the rom-com — impressed in a black-and-white Veronica Beard ensemble comprised of a tweed plaid jacket, a blouse and leather pants at a party for the brand's new store in Los Angeles's Pacific Palisades neighborhood on April 30. She completed her look with funky Sam Edelman pumps and oversized hoop earrings.

Joseph Fiennes looked sharp in a black suit with velvet lapels and a matching velvet bow tie at the 2019 SAG Awards in Los Angeles on Jan. 27. The star of "The Handmaid's Tale" scored a nomination for best villain for his work on the Hulu drama.

From the front, Jodie Comer's Victoria Beckham LBD seemed pretty basic, but once the English actress gave it a spin at the premiere of the second season of "Killing Eve" — for which she scored a nomination for best villain — in Los Angeles on April 1, it was clear that the strapless number was anything but! The dress featured a scooped back and an embellished panel that matched the sparkles on the heels of her Jimmy Choo pumps. She added a fun pop of color with her blue drop earrings.

Marsai Martin is quickly becoming one of Hollywood's best dressed actresses — and she's only 14! Just look at the coral strapless Pamella Roland high-low gown with tiers of tulle ruffles that the child star wore during the premiere of "Little" — for which she earned a nomination for best comedic performance — in Los Angeles on April 8.

Lindsay Lohan scored a rare fashion hit during a visit to NBC Studios in New York City on Jan. 10. The "Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club" personality — who actually earned a nomination for most meme-able moment for The LiLo, her viral dance craze — donned a darling long-sleeved, button-up LBD with a star-emblazoned bodice and a collar with a contrasting print.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the image of a man who's clearly feeling himself — and with good reason! Robert Downey Jr. brought his signature wild style to a press conference for "Avengers: Endgame" — for which he scored a nomination for best hero — in Seoul, South Korea, on April 24. The Marvel star sported a bronze suit with a floral-print tie, a blue floral-print pocket square and red boots.

Wow! Linda Cardellini looked half her age in a lacy black tiered off-the-shoulder Zuhair Murad number during the 2019 Critics' Choice Awards in Santa Monica, California, on Jan. 13. The star of "The Curse of La Llorona" — who scored a nomination for most frightened performance for her work in the horror flick — completed her youthful look by wearing her dark tresses in a loose top knot.

Va-va-va-voom! Gayle King looked red-hot in a completely unexpected look during Diana Ross's 75th birthday party in Los Angeles on March 26. The veteran journalist — who scored a nomination for best host for her work on "CBS This Morning" — stunned in a sparkling red ombre off-the-shoulder gown. She completed her look with a bold red lip, a silver sequin clutch and eye-catching diamond drop earrings.

Amandla Stenberg always keeps things fresh and fun on the red carpet, and she did not disappoint at Common's Fifth Annual Toast to the Arts in West Hollywood on Feb. 22. The "The Hate U Give" star — who scored a nomination for best performance in a movie for her work in the drama — looked super-chic in a black Alaia ensemble with a skirt featuring tiers of metallic fringe. Ncuti Gatwa sported a cornflower blue suit with a white button-down, which he wore unbuttoned and sans tie, at the BAFTA EE Rising Stars party in London on Jan. 31. Haley Lu Richardson wowed in a black Versace dress with a unique neckline, a thigh-high slit and the brand's signature buckle straps at the 2019 Critics' Choice Awards in Santa Monica, California, on Jan. 13.
