There was just … so much … going on with Halsey's hair and makeup during the 2019 AMAs — bleached eyebrows, rainbow-hued eyeshadow above and below her eyes, jewels along the bridge of her nose, a bow made of fake hair at the top of her head and extra-large earrings just in case the rest somehow wasn't enough.

We love Selena Gomez, and we REALLY love the chartreuse shade of her strapless Versace mini, which she wore with matching pumps during the 2019 AMAs. If only it fit just a smidge better! We also weren't wild about her styling: Her necklace — the Roberto Coin Cento Diamond Pharaoh's necklace set in platinum — was stunning but sadly clashed with the gold details on her dress, and her bob 'do, which she wore parted down the middle, would've better suited someone much older than her 27 years.

On a night dominated by fashion misses, not even Taylor Swift could pull off a solid fashion hit. The superstar donned a sparkly olive spaghetti-strap draped Julien Macdonald dress that oddly gave way to a miniskirt on one side. She bogged down her look with black over-the-knee Casadei boots, and her super-simple hair, makeup and Ofira earrings did little to elevate things.

The 2019 AMAs were all about sparkles, and no one did the trend better than Carrie Underwood, who looked regal in a deep-purple asymmetrical Stello gown with a thigh-high slit and an extra-long cape trailing off one shoulder. She completed her look with gold platform Giuseppe Zanotti sandals and simple jewelry.

During the 2019 AMAs, Kesha donned … a Versace bathrobe? The singer completed her gaudy look with matching boots and layered bling.

Dua Lipa had a huge year, so it's a shame she didn't don a worthy ensemble during the 2019 AMAs. Her pink strapless dress was kind of a snooze. The only thing that made it stand out was the black velvet tie at the waist, which gave her the opportunity to wear some fun and funky black heels. Dua Lipa wisely kept her makeup simple and wore her hair away from her face in a high ponytail to keep the focus on her jaw-dropping jewels: a diamond choker featuring a massive emerald pendant.

Heidi Klum has clearly stumbled upon the fountain of youth. At first, her somewhat age-inappropriate feathered Monsoori mini gave us flashbacks to her Big Bird dress from the 2015 Emmys. (Never forget!) But somehow, she managed to "make it work" during the 2019 AMAs, completing her youthful look with silver pumps that coordinated with her sparkly bodice and tons of diamond bling. We especially loved the way she wore her blonde locks in loose waves!

Camila Cabello was going for romance during the 2019 AMAs in a beige strapless Oscar de la Renta gown with a high-low hemline, but sadly, there was something cheap-looking about her getup, which featured a corset bodice and asymmetrical embroidered floral details. She also sported matching Jimmy Choo sandals.

Sometimes the truth doesn't hurt! Here it is: Lizzo looked truly adorable in a ruffled one-shoulder orange Valentino minidress during the 2019 AMAs. She completed her look with white accessories, including what has to be the smallest handbag that has ever graced the red carpet. Let's take a closer look…

Christina Aguilera probably should've worn this look to the "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination"-themed 2018 Met Gala. It definitely would've fit in better there than at the 2019 AMAs! The singer donned a Jean Paul Gaultier creation with a sheer hood that might've worked if it hadn't been for her accessories — a chunky belt, heavy boots and layered beaded necklaces that pulled down the otherwise ethereal ensemble.

Like Christina Aguilera, Billy Porter also donned an all-white ensemble, though upon closer inspection, his look appeared to have an under-the-sea theme. The "Pose" star sported a pearl-flecked Thom Browne cape-coat featuring embroidered sea-creatures (note the seahorse at the bottom right) with extremely wide-legged pants and a Stephen Jones hat that looked an awful lot like a coral reef.

Jenna Dewan is heavily pregnant with her second child, but you could hardly tell based on her appearance in this flattering pink Emporio Armani column dress during the 2019 AMAs. It gets even better from the back…

So cute! Jenna Dewan's pink dress featured a big bow on the back. She accessorized with gorgeous pink jeweled drop earrings by Lorraine Schwartz and also rocked one of our favorite hair and makeup looks of the evening.

Well, this certainly wasn't Billie Eilish's worst look ever! The rising star donned a Burberry ensemble comprised of an oversized shirt, loose-fitting pants and matching chunky slides. To coordinate with her rhinestone-studded chainlink button-down, she wore a white studded bonnet with a chainlink veil.

Regina King went way outside of her fashion comfort zone during the 2019 AMAs, and boy are we glad she did! The Oscar-winning actress donned a sparkly black cold-shoulder Ashi Studio gown with an extra-large keyhole cut-out, but it was her unique headpiece that really impressed us. See that next…

At first, we thought Regina King had really shiny bangs. Then we realized she was wearing some exquisitely beaded hair bling. It was a fun and unexpected choice for the serious actress, who also donned diamond drop earrings.

Host Ciara's 2019 AMAs red carpet ensemble — which was all Balmain — had us scratching our heads. The singer sported blue bellbottoms and a top (a necklace? a jumpsuit?) comprised of turquoise stones and metal hardware that was by far the most interesting part of her getup. During the 2019 AMAs, he rocked an MCM ensemble — a brown suede suit with a black leather vest, a black shirt with a high neckline, a black cowboy hat, shades, a silver chain, black boots and several bejeweled rings. The best part? The leather panel on his jacket emblazoned with the MCM logo. Hey, if you're gonna go urban-cowboy, it doesn't get much better than this!

Someone who didn't totally nail the urban-cowboy thing? Post Malone. His black-and-white plaid suit was fine. We didn't even mind his bolo tie. But his barbed-wire-emblazoned white cowboy hat? That's where we draw the line. At least he won't have any trouble re-claiming it if it somehow ends up in the lost-and-found bin…

Meanwhile, Lil Nas X officially said goodbye to his signature urban-cowboy vibe during the 2019 AMAs. How, exactly? He sported a neon-green leather suit and boots with a rhinestone-flecked zebra-print shirt and matching gloves. He also wore mismatched earrings — a thick hoop on one ear and a drop earring on the other.

Someone who wore zebra print a little better? Jameela Jamil, who rocked a sequined strapless Pamella Roland gown with a plunging neckline.

Did Tyra Banks miss the memo that Halloween was last month? She sported what can only be described as a retro-gangster getup during the 2019 AMAs: a camel-colored Don Morphy suit over a black bra, black fingerless gloves and a white wide-brim hat.

Silver was also huge during the 2019 AMAs. Sofia Carson sparkled in a one-sleeve Francesco Scognamiglio gown with a bizarre asymmetrical bib detail along the neckline. We may not have been wild about her dress, but she saved her look with super-glam makeup and a sleek 'do with a deep side part.

Alyson Stoner also sparkled in silver during the 2019 AMAs. The singer-actress sported a sequined suit, which we loved, over a metallic structured strapless top, which we also loved. But sadly, both pieces together were just too much.

Dan Levy usually favors preppy looks, but the "Schitt's Creek" star chose something a little more edgy for the 2019 AMAs, wearing an overcoat with splashes of red along the bottom over his otherwise all-black ensemble. He wore (UGH!) sneakers with red toes to coordinate with his jacket.

Tessa Brooks channeled a Vegas showgirl … but not necessarily in a good way … in a minidress featuring a sheer bodice with strategically placed silver sequins and a lilac feathered skirt.
