Now that some of our favorite stars from the Latin music scene have hit the 2019 Billboard Latin Music Awards, it's time to critique the fashion. Wonderwall.com is rounding up the hits and misses from the April 25 show's red carpet, starting with Isabela Moner. Stars and sparkles and fringe, oh my! Isabela pulled off a show-stopping silver look in this minidress complete with beaded geometric shapes, a fringed bodice and a skirt full of studded stars. Finishing off this look perfectly? Those phenomenal matching shoes. Let's check them out…
We're starry-eyed over these shoes! Isabela Moner's matching silver star-studded sandals were our favorite accessory of the night. Next up, a look at her equally stellar hair and makeup…
That cat eye! That glossy pink lip! Isabela Moner's makeup was flawless, as was her super-high, extra-long thin braid. We loved her interesting beauty look almost as much as those tiny hoop earrings she sported.
There was so much happening on Mirella Cesa's dress that we don't even know where to start! From that dark green printed top with red and teal embellishments to the silver mermaid-style skirt that included a hot pink printed band before flaring out in bronze, navy and hot pink, nothing about this look matched. The clashing colors and conflicting patterns and fabrics left us scratching our heads — and sending this one to the miss list.
Pink perfection! Becky G looked like a hot pink dream in this fluffy minidress by NEDO. We loved the cut and the delicate feathered detailing down the frock as well as the way she paired it with hot pink heels that matched. Let's take a closer look…
Becky G completed her sweet little pink look with these equally sweet pink heels with a tie detail at the toes and around the ankle. Next up, a better look at her minimal accessories and beauty look…
Becky G, who rocked her hair in messy waves, added a dainty cross necklace and a thin gold choker along with a pair of oversized thin hoops to her feathered pink frock. When it came to makeup, instead of adding more pink, she opted for warmer hues.
Eek! Carolina Sandoval donned a neon green nightmare of a dress — but it wasn't the shade that turned this look into a miss. It was the tulle layered bodice that gave way to a sequined skirt that culminated in — you guessed it! — even more tulle!
Erika Csiszer showed how neon can work perfectly on a red carpet! The star donned this beautiful strapless ballgown with a thigh-high slit in a very bold neon yellow hue.
Also rocking a strapless dress with a thigh high slit? Angelica Celaya, who picked a fiery red version. Only this one featured a dramatic pointed neckline that we weren't crazy about. Making matters worse? Those busy shoes that she added to the mix.
Too gorgeous! Our third strapless frock with a super-high slit was worn by Gaby Espino. This take on the trendy cut reigned supreme over the others thanks in part to that killer pink hue and sweet bow detail around the waist. We also loved how this stunning gown featured a dramatic train, upping the glam factor even more.
There were a lot of super-high slits, but Cristina Eustace's takes the cake. Her sleeveless frock featured a deep-V neckline and floral detailing down the bodice before giving way to a full skirt with a slit nearly up to her belly button. This near-wardrobe-malfunction look definitely nabs a spot on the miss list.
Proving black dresses don't have to be boring, Claudia Vergara (Sofia Vergara's niece!) donned this fitted, sleek black frock that featured unexpected straps. Let's take a closer look…
Instead of boring black straps to complement her sleek black look, Claudia Vergara's dress featured these gold chain straps. She added straight hair and a bright red lip to finish off her glamorous red carpet ensemble.
Black dresses aren't always a good idea. Take Mariah's mess of a dress, for example. We weren't fans of this intricate sleeveless frock with a high-neck detail, lace down the bodice and a massive sheer skirt adorned with tufts of tulle.
Bad Bunny certainly looked dapper in lilac at the 2019 Billboard Latin Music Awards. We loved his spring-ready pastel combo and the way he added a white turtleneck and stark white sneakers underneath. In fact, this look is so sharp that we'll forgive the neon green hair and neon yellow nail color — and the sunglasses he donned down the red carpet!
Though we loved Mari Burelle's high-waisted, shimmering navy pants, we weren't crazy about the sheer black blouse she paired it with. If not for that misstep, this look would have definitely been one of the coolest on the carpet!
We're patiently awaiting the end of the sheer trend, but Paula Galindo kept it alive with this nude and gold high-necked, long-sleeved design with strategically placed embellishments down the bodice.
What's going on here? Rosalia donned an odd structured long-sleeved crop top underneath a pair of high-waisted maroon pants with suspenders and a gold belt detail at the waist. Adding to this already over-the-top ensemble? Those bizarre fuzzy tan sandals.
We love an interesting black dress and Marcela Cardozo certainly rocked one at the Billboard Latin Music Awards. She arrived in this thin-strapped confection with a plunging neckline and glamorous ruffled details down the full skirt. Cementing this look as a hit? Her interesting accessories. Let's check them out next…
Marcela Cardozo accessorized her pretty black gown with some unexpected accoutrements — these matching beaded necklaces of different lengths that seemed to have serpent-like charms at the end. She added some oversized hoops to complete her edgy accessories.
The only thing worse than a sheer dress is a sheer dress with tacky embellishments. Unfortunately, Ariadna Gutierrez didn't get the memo before sporting this look — a strapless dress with a corset-style bodice and a completely sheer skirt covered with metallic details that looked more like a shower curtain than red carpet couture.
Stunning in silver! Model Agueda Lopez donned this glitzy frock perfect for a Las Vegas award show. The sparkling gown with three-quarter-length sleeves featured a sweet darker silver bedazzled bow detail at the waist and a daringly short hemline in the front plus a full skirt in the back. She finished this look off perfectly with those pointy-toe white-and-silver pumps.
Yikes! Dalex's black-and-purple getup made us wish we had our own set of those bizarre glasses to block out this look. From the vest to the strange pants and those purple-and-pink shoes, this one was an instant miss.
Obsessed! Luisa Fernanda W rocked a killer red look on the Billboard Latin Music Awards red carpet. The off-the-shoulder neckline of her crop top and the cool cut of those matching high-waisted trousers set this apart. Plus we loved the way it showed off her dainty tattoos.
Miryam Diaz's champagne-hued dress was a pretty shade, but the slit and unnecessary cut-out lost us. Though we didn't love some elements of the asymmetrical frock, we did like the way she paired it with those silver strappy sandals.
Don't mess with Marjorie de Sousa! The embellishments on the neckline of her sleek, long-sleeved black dress looked dangerous — with golden spikey accoutrements along the top. We liked this edgy addition, and the subtle plunging neckline that gave this dress a little more personality.
Erin Lim embraced tinfoil couture at the Billboard Latin Music Awards. The host donned this very shiny frock, which featured thin straps and a little train gathered on the side, for the big night. And though we weren't fans of her shimmering look, we did like the way she paired it with those stark white sandals.
Another silver sparkly miss? Lady Janny, who arrived in this disastrous getup complete with bell sleeves and a tacky lace-up detail down the front.
A Louis Vuitton jacket and skirt combo?! DaniLeigh's look was an instant hit. She rocked the flashy two-piece set with a black bandeau and black strappy sandals for an edgy and on-point red carpet look.
Though we liked Greice Santo's springy white two-piece ensemble, it looked more appropriate for a day of shopping than an award show. The long-sleeved top featured a plunging neckline that started out dressy, but paired with that high-waisted miniskirt, it just turned too casual for our taste.
Ivette Machin had a better idea when it came to her white wardrobe at the Billboard Latin Music Awards — an elegant gown with a plunging neckline and a thigh-high center slit.
It takes a special belt to work on a ballgown. And Sarodj Bertin's bright red Dolce & Gabbana belt was not that belt. The star added the accessory to her otherwise pretty black dress, making for a combination that landed in the miss pile.
This pop of color on Kany Garcia was a hit in our books. We loved the unexpected high neckline and the pretty print atop this hot pink confection.
We're all for a good minidress, but Sofia Reyes' long-sleeved frock fell flat for us. It could have been the combo of the super-high hemline and a plunging neckline or maybe it was that all-over print, but this look just didn't feel red carpet ready.
We adored Alexandra Olavarria's flower-topped confection. The thin-strapped pale pink frock featured gorgeous floral embellishments down the bodice and the pretty tulle-topped skirt, and her side-swept waves added an extra romantic feel.
