Sex and the City's best fashion moments

It's coming back! On Jan. 10, 2021, Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis took to social media to confirm that their hit show "Sex and the City" is returning for a 10-episode reboot titled "And Just Like That…" The HBO Max series, which begins shooting in New York City in the spring of 2021, "will follow Carrie, Miranda and Charlotte as they navigate the journey from the complicated reality of life and friendship in their 30s to the even more complicated reality of life and friendship in their 50s," the streaming service revealed. Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones on the original six seasons of the show and in the franchise's two movies, will not be returning. To celebrate the reboot news, Wonderwall.com is taking a walk down memory lane to relive some of the greatest fashion moments from the original series' six-year run. Keep reading for more…

Undoubtedly one of the biggest style icons on the show and in pop culture at the time was Carrie Bradshaw (played by Sarah Jessica Parker). From the onset of season 1 in 1998, fans saw Carrie in a variety of incredible and sometimes bizarre outfits. One staple was her full-length fur coat, which was often worn as a look in itself. Paired with lacy capris and leopard-print heels, the coat gave Carrie an aura of effortless glam.

Although Charlotte York (played by Kristin Davis) was one of the more prim and proper characters on "Sex and the City," she occasionally turned up the dial on her fashion. On season 5, Charlotte rocked knee-high boots, a skin-tight black miniskirt and a gorgeous pink wool jacket, giving a punch of sexy color to her edgy look.

Miranda Hobbes (played by Cynthia Nixon) rocked the perfect non-traditional wedding dress during season 6 of "Sex and the City" in 2003. Instead of a typical white gown, Miranda wed Steve in a burgundy velvet suit and gold slingback heels. The look was completed with a fall-themed auburn-hued bouquet.

Le sigh! Carrie's Atelier Versace Couture Mille Feuille gown worn for the "An American Girl in Paris Part Une" episode during season 6 of "Sex and the City" was one of the most glamorous looks of the entire series. The sequined dusty blue-gray gown with layers of tulle (which Carrie famously fell asleep in) made her look like royalty.

Of course, Carrie wasn't the only one with style on "Sex and the City." Public relations maven Samantha Jones (played by Kim Cattrall) could rival Carrie's fashion prowess on any given day. On the season 2 finale, "Ex and the City," Samantha looked smokin' in this figure-hugging little red dress with a zebra-print purse.

One of Carrie's go-to fashion staples on "Sex and the City" was a basic white tank top. In this pic from season 3, Carrie's dressed up her tank with a gorgeous floral pin on her shoulder. Her pastel-pink skinny pants were paired with a cute white jacket and a white-and-gold Dior purse.

When Sarah Jessica Parker's Carrie Bradshaw started wearing a "Carrie" nameplate necklace on the show, every woman everywhere had to have one. We still remember sharing that soul-crushing feeling when Carrie lost her iconic necklace!

Miranda was often too busy being a bad-a** lawyer on "Sex and the City" to worry about her style, but occasionally even she knew how to make our jaws drop. During season 3 of the series, Miranda hit the streets in this belted black dress with an exaggerated collar, giving her a seriously enviable hourglass shape and just a touch of drama.

Carrie rocked some of her best looks while living in Paris during season 6 of "Sex and the City." She wore a beautiful baby blue coat, black turtleneck, white fur hat and white mittens and carried a soft gold clutch while checking out the window display for her book in a Parisian bookstore.

Carrie was never shy about adding headgear to her looks on "Sex and the City." On season 4 in 2001, she rocked this chocolate pageboy hat with a navy pinstriped capri suit and pointy-toe white heels on her way to walk boyfriend Aiden's dog. She matched the menswear ensemble with a neutral bag and (of course) a fashion magazine in her spare hand for further studying.

Even though Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker famously feuded after "Sex and the City," the women never failed to bring it when the cameras were rolling. In this scene still from season 4, Samantha and Carrie walked down the street wearing eye-popping bold colors. We can thank the show's stylist, Patricia Fields, for these vibrant looks, including Carrie's adorable black bow-tie belt, sunshine yellow heels and matching purse.

Charlotte had another enviable fashion moment on season 6 of "Sex and the City." Her midriff-revealing black halter top and flowing, floral-printed skirt were nothing like the buttoned-up looks she'd worn in earlier years on the series. We're totally feeling the wide belt and small white handbag she accessorized the look with too.

Carrie Bradshaw's white tutu and pale pink tank top ensemble is one of her most iconic and memorable looks of the whole series. Too bad we really only saw it in the credits while she narrowly avoids getting splashed by a passing bus advertising her newspaper column on the side. How fortuitous!

Carrie was all about high fashion during season 6 of "Sex and the City." In this scene still, Carrie's wearing an off-the-shoulder Richard Tyler floral dress with asymmetrical ruffle detail — and we're in love. Not only is the look totally romantic, but it drapes across her figure perfectly. The dress was matched with gold heels and a soft pink bag, which elevated it from sexy to sophisticated.

Even dressed down, Carrie somehow looked ready for a photo shoot. In this 2002 picture, Carrie is walking the streets of NYC in cuffed denim shorts with an oversized bohemian top that revealed her lacy black bra underneath. Her look was accessorized with a colorful head wrap, black Manolo Blahnik heels and a baby-pink bucket bag. Tres chic! Fun fact: At the time of this pic, Sarah Jessica Parker was very pregnant with her first child, James Wilkie Broderick.

On season 4 of "Sex and the City," Carrie and Samantha proved prints can be a whole lot of fun. Carrie opted for neutral colors and a tartan scarf to accentuate her gorgeous jungle-themed green skirt while Samantha contrasted plum gloves and an indigo bag with a fur-trimmed white jacket and harlequin-patterned gold-and-violet slacks.

On season 4 of "Sex and the City," Carrie gave us all style goals with this black-and-white Prada skirt and floral-print Marni jacket. Paired with a white crop top and matching heels, Carrie made grocery shopping seem glamorous.

On season 6 of "Sex and the City," Miranda and Carrie welcomed summer in full skirts with heels. While Carrie opted for a playfully patterned blue '50s swing dress, Miranda went for a two-piece look with a creamy pleated skirt and colorful blouse.

After losing her hair to chemo, Samantha, like many women with breast cancer, struggled with her self-esteem. That is, until she found the perfect pink wig to wear on the red carpet for boyfriend Smith Jerrod's movie premiere on season 6 of "Sex and the City." Paired with a white faux-fur jacket and a sexy black dress, Samantha's vibrant locks took center stage.

On season 5 of "Sex and the City," Carrie descended the stairway in this dazzling black-and-white Anna Molinari flapper dress with lace and peacock feather details. Paired with a black wrist corsage and dewy makeup, Carrie looked like a pin-up girl from the 1920s.

If Charlotte had one main style throughout "Sex and the City," this look from season 5 captures it. Wearing a silk blouse with a pleated neckline tucked into a pastel pencil skirt (a la a 1950s housewife), Charlotte looked ready to sip a martini while whipping up a gelatin salad. Carrie, on the other hand, always managed to keep her look intriguing. Her simple purple-and-black striped blouse delivered extra drama when paired with an asymmetrical two-tone sweater with a button closure.

Carrie got the chance to be a runway model for a celebrity fashion show during season 4 of "Sex and the City." Prior to hitting the catwalk, she tried on a variety of amazing dresses including this slim-fit floral-print Dolce & Gabbana number.

On season 6 of "Sex and the City," Carrie was cozy in a cable-knit sweater, loose-fit blue jeans and lace-up suede and fur boots. Samantha was working an edgier vibe with her vibrant yellow leather jacket, black turtleneck dress with matching gloves and sharp-heeled booties.

Carrie couldn't have looked more flawless when she met Big during season 2 and said the iconic breakup words: "Your girl is lovely, Hubble." She rocked a white scoop-neck silk dress with her iconic "Carrie" necklace, clear heeled sandals and a black tassel bag.

Samantha Jones knew how to make her wardrobe work for her on "Sex and the City." In this season 3 pic, she was on the prowl while wearing a sexy deep-V sequined halter mini. She paired the dress with a tiny white purse and glittery silver drop earrings, then worked the room with her come-hither stare. We're smitten.

During season 5, Carrie decided the only lover she needed in her life was her beloved New York City. To mark the occasion, she goes on a date with the city wearing a baby pink bow blouse, a pleated rainbow chiffon skirt and a vibrant orange jacket. Her colorful ensemble was accessorized with a green felt hobo bag and black-and-white kitten heels.

In this season 4 pic of Carrie from the "Sex and the City" episode "I Heart NY," she's rocking a colorful metallic brocade MoMo SoHo jacket over a black accordion-pleated Michael Kors georgette satin and lace camisole dress with to-die-for pink Sharon sandals from Christian Louboutin. Carrie wore the sumptuous outfit for her last date with Big before he left for Napa (to give him something to remember). Unfortunately, her shoes didn't last long as a very pregnant Charlotte's water broke on them toward the end of the episode, which was dedicated to NYC after the 9/11 tragedy.

Technically, Carrie didn't wear this stunning pink coat dress on "Sex and the City," but it was a look she rocked for a photo shoot leading up to the season 5 premiere in 2002. The knee-length baby-pink dress featured shimmery silver and rhinestone embellishments on the shoulders and heavy black embroidery, giving Carrie a look of 1960s couture.

On the series finale of "Sex and the City," Carrie ended the show on a high-fashion note. Wearing her beloved full-length fur coat (that made several appearances over the years beginning on season 1), a pleated tulle and satin skirt, a baby blue wrap blouse, a hot pink scarf and flaming red Manolo Blahnik heels, she made it clear that no matter what happened in her life going forward, she was always going to slay.

Kristin Davis showed off her inner "Park Avenue Pollyanna" when she wore a pale blue floral-print strapless dress with dangling silver earrings and a beige clutch during season 5 of "Sex and the City."

Carrie wore this colorful number while walking the streets of New York City during season 2. She paired her pink, green and orange printed frock with a metallic belt, a rich gold purse, sandals and her "Carrie" necklace.

Very few women can pull off an A-line watermelon dress but Carrie managed to do just that while exploring Paris on season 6 of "Sex and the City." Our favorite fictional writer complemented the red polka-dot dress with white pumps, a black A-line coat and a floral brooch.

Samantha Jones brought Old Hollywood glamour to Miranda's friend's wedding during season 2 when she wore a stunning gold strapless satin gown with gorgeous flower-shaped diamond earrings. Chic!

Carrie looked comfy and cute while chatting with Miranda during season 5 of "Sex and the City." She paired a blue tube top with a gray midi-length skirt, pink slingback heels, a gold statement necklace and a multicolored scarf tied around her arm.
