Stephen Collins played Johnny's father, Joe. Joe and Daphne Wilder end up falling for each other. Stephen spoke to TV Guide in 2007 about what it was like to play Diane Keaton's love interest. "Listen, for me, Diane is the thinking man's babe of my generation. I always thought she was stupendously attractive, completely lust-worthy, and getting up close to her doesn't change that one bit. There's something so sexy about an actor who's wildly talented," he said.
After "Because I Said So," Stephen Collins continued to play his most famous role — the Rev. Eric Camden on the TV series "7th Heaven" — until its final episode aired in May 2007. He continued to work on television, appearing on shows including "No Ordinary Family," "Devious Maids" and "Revolution." But his career temporarily came to a halt after he made headlines for sexually abusing three underage women earlier in his career. He issued a public apology through People magazine in December 2014, writing, "I deeply regret the mistakes I've made and any pain I have caused these three women. I admit to, apologize for and take responsibility for what I did." He and second wife Faye Grant, with whom he has a daughter, finalized their divorce about a year later.
