Fashion hits and misses from the 2020 ACM Awards

The ACM Awards are here! Nashville honored its best and brightest at the 2020 Academy of Country Music Awards on Sept. 16, and Wonderwall.com rounded up the fashion to see which country crooners scored a style hit and who missed the mark. First up? Maren Morris, who falls in the latter category in this hot pink and orange number. The Versace dress wasn't our favorite of the night, with its tie-dye effect and print throughout the long-sleeved and midi-length silhouette, but we did appreciate the way she paired it with matching neon orange heels. We appreciated the fact that Maren Morris accessorized with more hot pink — check out those ear cuffs! — but we weren't wild about her makeup. She opted for lilac eyeshadow and a natural lip, which felt like a weird call when contrasted with the neon shades of her dress. Fortunately her next look at the show was a major improvement…

Maren Morris rocked a killer Versace dress later on during the show — this sweet halter-style midi-length black frock. We loved the green embellishments and the delicate gold belt detail, and the way it paired perfectly with her lime green heels.

On paper, sequins paired with red and purple leopard print doesn't sound like a fashion hit, but Kelsea Ballerini proved that wrong at the ACM Awards. The nominee sported this impossibly cool long-sleeved minidress in a bold leopard print embellished with sequins in red with a purple leopard-print miniskirt. Completing her look? Matching (and equally cool!) red leopard-print boots, which we'll see next…

When it came time for hair and makeup, Kelsea Ballerini opted for an artfully messy updo, a smokey eye in a complementary red shade and a pink lip. She also added some sparkly hoops to bring even more shimmer to her ensemble.

Taylor Swift posed outside the Grand Ole Opry artist entrance in her ACM Awards getup. We weren't wild about her head-to-toe Stella McCartney choice — a sparkly sequined crimson turtleneck tucked into khaki high-waisted pants. She finished off her look with T-strap sandals, cementing this look as a miss.

It was a Canadian tuxedo for Morgan Wallen! The new male artist of the year nominee rocked a denim jacket, denim jeans, a white T-shirt and cowboy boots for a quintessentially country look. Though it wouldn't work in a normal red carpet scenario, for a country show this getup is perfect!

Looking sharp, Dan + Shay! Duo of the year winners Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney of Dan + Shay arrived in style in sleek black tuxes, which they rocked with white dress shirts sans ties and black boots for a perfectly coordinated getup. Their song "10,000 Hours" with Justin Bieber was up for song of the year, video of the year and music event of the year.

Eric Church went with an all-black look with black boots and topped things off with a brown suede jacket and the official accessory of 2020 — a mask. Though we appreciate his commitment to safety, we weren't wild about the color combo the crooner embraced. He was up for entertainer of the year and song of the year for "Some of It."

Lauren Alaina looked beautiful in blue in this glam gown. The singer rocked a fitted frock with a massive ruffled detail at the neckline and topped things off with a sleek bun.

Though it wasn't our favorite look of the night, Miranda Lambert certainly embraced her country roots with this ensemble! The star opted for a blue shirt with plenty of fringe paired with embroidered jeans and a thick sparkly belt for some full country glitz and glam. Finishing things off? Her silver platform heels!

Florida Georgia Line are arguably one of the best dressed duos in country music, so it was no surprise that they arrived in style for ACM Awards events. Brian Kelly rocked a vintage striped denim shirt with jeans and tan books while Tyler Hubbard opted for a tan Dolce&Gabbana getup with denim patchwork and finished things off with brown boots.

Ready for fall! New female artist of the year winner Tenille Townes opted to embrace the changing of seasons and donned this sparkly metallic number. We loved her bronze jumpsuit, which featured a banded waist and a plunging neckline.

We know the men of country music like to keep things casual, but we were underwhelmed by this outfit on one of our faves, Thomas Rhett. The entertainer of the year co-winner — he shared the prize with Carrie Underwood — opted for a plaid shirt, jeans and boots for a super-simple everyday look.

Lily Aldridge looked stunning in this colorblocked Proenza Schouler gown. The model's strapless dress featured a black bodice and a crimson skirt with a thigh-high slit up the front. She accessorized with a thick black choker and strappy black sandals.

Another sharp-dressed man? Jimmie Allen, who donned this monochromatic black getup with plenty of silver embellishments. From fringe and extras down his jacket to the lace-up detail on his leather pants, this funky ensemble was busy but a perfect example of country cool on the blue carpet.

Another big country star who arrived looking just a little too casual? Luke Bryan, who donned a plaid shirt, jeans, a tan jacket and a baseball hat with boots for a seriously forgettable blue carpet look.

And now for a country star who dressed up for the occasion! Darius Rucker donned a sleek and well-tailored black suit with an unbuttoned white dress shirt underneath for a cool fashion hit.

We weren't fans of Cam's funky frock. The singer donned this multicolored dress with wide sleeves and a bizarre nearly circular silhouette. Despite the pretty color palette, this one missed the mark, though we liked her strappy silver sandals.

Mickey Guyton was a vision in this sweet white gown. It featured off-the-shoulder sleeves and a thigh-high slit and worked perfectly to show off her burgeoning baby bump.

One country star who always looks cool? Kane Brown, who donned a shiny leather jacket, a black T-shirt and black jeans for a sharp and simple ensemble.
