What's more exciting than the fashion explosion at the annual CMT Music Awards, where we get to see country music's biggest and brightest wear their honky-tonkiest outfits on the red carpet? In honor of this year's award show — which airs on June 7, 2017 — Wonderwall.com collected our favorite fashion looks from CMT Music Awards over the last 12 years to whet our appetites for the wild and elegant looks that are surely coming our way this year… beginning with the lovely Carrie Underwood on the red carpet at the 2016 CMT Music Awards. By today's fashion standards, it's possible Keith Urban and Loretta Lynn (who was 73 years old in this picture) may not love their look from the 2005 CMT Music Awards, but we think they deserve some praise. Not only does velvet-rocking Keith look comfortably handsome, but he's clearly thrilled he gets to wrap his arms around Loretta — one of the biggest legends in country music — who chose a stunning turquoise beaded ball gown for the big night.

O' captain, my captain! We barely recognized country star Dierks Bentley in this hilarious (and somehow super-hot) pilot's uniform at the 2014 CMT Music Awards. It doesn't matter if he's hiding behind a fake mustache, because our hearts still take flight whenever Dierks is near.
Curve-a-licious Miranda Lambert turned heads in this little black-and-white number at the 2008 CMT Music Awards. The strapless, lined dress with a fitted bust and floral design hugged her gorgeous shape and made her stand out on the red carpet.
LeAnn Rimes hit the 2014 CMT Music Awards red carpet in a gown that must've needed a whole lot of double-stick tape. The wrap-style dress with a plunging neckline made LeAnn look more like a Grecian goddess than a country music star.
Jewel looked as if she deserved a crown at the 2006 CMT Music Awards. Her body-hugging sheer lacy gown featured a playful mermaid-style skirt that made this top-charting folk songstress look positively regal.
If we've learned anything about the CMT Music Awards, it's that male country singers, like Jason Aldean and Keith Urban, don't step too far outside of their comfort zone for the red carpet. The pair came to the 2016 CMT Music Awards in their favorite everyday attire, including lots of denim and their comfiest (no doubt designer) T-shirts.
Gretchen Wilson made waves with her 2004 country hit "Redneck Woman." The following year, at the 2005 CMT Music Awards, she was all sass in belted, distressed denim and a midriff-baring black cropped tuxedo jacket. The look on her face says it all: She's bad (in the best kind of way) and she knows it.
There's something very "Miami Vice" about Luke Bryan's look at the 2014 CMT Music Awards, and we were totally into it. His shimmery, baby blue blazer, basic white V-neck T and fitted jeans made already gorgeous Luke look even more delectable.
Former Steel Magnolia band member Meghan Linsey arrived at the 2012 CMT Music Awards in a dress that was hard to miss and possibly even more difficult to describe. The shimmery fabric, mixed color patterns and halter neckline made the singer look like she was a Barbie doll dressed by an ambitious little girl with ice skating on her mind.
We loved how Charles Kelley, Hillary Scott and Dave Haywood of Lady Antebellum managed to rock their own high-fashion style while still complementing each other's looks at the 2015 CMT Music Awards. Charles and Dave worked slim-fit slacks while taking their top halves in totally different (but also totally stylish) directions. Hillary's plunging neckline and fitted bodice added a touch of elegance to her dress's flowing, flowery skirt.
Long before Blake Shelton was a coach on "The Voice" or dating pop princess Gwen Stefani, he was making hearts skip a beat with his sexy cowboy style. Pairing his Stetson hat with a matching black jacket and shirt and well-fitted jeans, Blake looked every part the bad-boy country music star at the 2007 CMT Music Awards.
We loved how pretty in pink Carrie Underwood looked at the 2010 CMT Music Awards. The bold hue really popped with the addition of a black embroidered belt and matching collar. It's easy to see that Carrie looked (and felt) like a million bucks.
We loved the figure-hugging minidress with black and tan leather patchwork detail that Martina McBride wore to the 2016 CMT Music Awards. At 49 that year, Martina looked as beautiful as she did when she first entered the country music scene 25 years earlier.
The siblings of The Band Perry — Neil Perry, Kimberly Perry and Reid Perry — gave a nod to the 1970s with their fun style at the 2011 CMT Music Awards. Brothers Neil and Reid opted for wide lapels, open necklines and fitted jeans and leather pants while sister Kimberly went for more of a disco-chic look that dazzled on the red carpet.
Is it wrong of us to call Trace Adkins' style at the 2006 CMT Music Awards "yummy"? His broad, muscled shoulders looked positively hunky in a fitted black leather jacket and printed T-shirt. But he kept his look totally country with a Stetson hat and good-ol'-boy smile.
Just because you're in a band doesn't mean you have to wearing matching attire. We liked how the members of Little Big Town honored their own individual senses of style at the 2015 CMT Music Awards. We especially adored Kimberly Schlapman's nod to Marilyn Monroe in her beaded white floor-length gown.
Eric Church had only been on the country music scene for a few short years when he was snapped on the red carpet at the 2009 CMT Music Awards looking every bit the honky-tonk hipster. With his gray blazer, black printed T, wispy bangs and perfectly trimmed beard, we can't tell if Eric wants to sing us a song or brew his own craft beer.
Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush of the band Sugarland looked extra-sweet at the 2011 CMT Music Awards. Jennifer's ruffled one-shouldered leather dress hugged her in all the right places and managed to make Kristian's fedora-topped basic two-piece suit look even more stylish.
Darius Rucker, the former frontman of Hootie and the Blowfish and current country music star, kept his style classic and clean at the 2013 CMT Music Awards. Along with his perfectly fitted charcoal two-piece suit, Darius rocked a rather dashing salt-and-pepper goatee that added to his dapper charm.
Jay DeMarcus, Gary LeVox and Joe Don Rooney of Rascal Flatts strutted their stuff at the 2012 CMT Music Awards. The trio looked like they coordinated their mostly all-black style, though they added a touch of individuality with their shiny metallic jackets (and hair styles that put Justin Bieber to shame).
When we look at this picture of Toby Keith at the 2008 CMT Music Awards, we can't help but think he's a guy who knows what he likes and will not deviate from it. Wearing his trademark Stetson hat, an open jacket over a fitted T and a worn pair of jeans, Toby looks every bit the cowboy we know and love.
The only singer to appear three times on our list is the always fashionable Carrie Underwood. We can't help but girl crush on her amazing 2007 CMT Music Awards style. In this strapless, warm-toned floral-print dress with a belted waist, Carrie looked like she stepped straight off a 1960s magazine cover.
