Angelina Jolie opens up about family movie nights and more during quarantine
For Angelina Jolie, quarantining with six kids, some pets and the general chaos that combination creates is actually kind of ideal. "You know, I've never been one who valued relaxation. I like chaos," the actress mused in a recent chat with E! News. Of course, you'd kind of have to like chaos to juggle six children, particularly when most of them are teenagers. "I've been on high level meetings where there's dogs and balls and kids and things," Angelina said of Maddox, 19, Pax, 16, Zahara, 15, Shiloh, 14 and twins Knox and Vivienne, 12. "You kind of just enjoy being human with everybody else and laughing through it." The younger children Angelina shares with ex, Brad Pitt, also have the bonus of getting to spend more time than expected with their older brother, Maddox Jolie-Pitt, who came home from college early because of the coronavirus pandemic. While Angelina's ongoing divorce from Brad has hit a few road bumps this month, that doesn't seem to have hampered her ability to enjoy the downtime with her kids' go-to group hang, family movie night. "Well, we're all there. So, all six kids, my oldest son's home from Korea," she explained. "Lots of popcorn and just like really every family, we're just pajamas, robes, snacks."

Lori Loughlin will likely get two months in prison for her role in the national college admissions scandal
On Friday, Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli are scheduled to learn how much prison time they'll get for paying a $500,000 bribe to get their non-athlete daughters into USC as rowing recruits. And federal prosecutors have already urged the judge overseeing the case to agree to the sentences they've proposed, which include two months behind bars for Loughlin and five months in prison for Giannulli. "The government respectfully requests that the Court impose the agreed-upon dispositions: a term of imprisonment of five months, a $250,000 fine, and 250 hours of community service for Giannulli; and a term of imprisonment of two months, a $150,000 fine, and 100 hours of community service for Loughlin," the U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts wrote in a sentencing memo, according to Deadline. The former "Fuller House" star and designer are expected to serve their time in California, despite the hearings having taken place in Boston, Deadline notes. Since Loughlin is a first-time offender — and the coronavirus pandemic has caused massive problems in prisons across the country — the actress could end up serving much less time than her sentence stipulates. After initially pleading not guilty, the couple agreed to a plea deal in May. The sentencing terms they agreed to then don't appear to have changed, based on the prosecution's latest memo.

Earlier this month, Cardi B hinted about having talked politics with Joe Biden recently. On Monday, Elle released the full video and transcript of a video chat between the rapper and the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, who checked in with Cardi about what she and her fans are looking for in a president. Cardi's first demand was to see Donald Trump voted out. "We're dealing with a pandemic right now …," she said. "I don't want to be lied to … I don't want someone to lie to me and tell me that it's OK not to wear a mask." She went on to say she wants all Americans to have access to free healthcare and college. "And I want Black people to stop getting killed and [there's] no justice for it," she continued. "I just want laws that are fair to Black citizens and that are fair for cops, too." From there, the two talked voting. Biden stressed how different the 2016 election results would have been had the 5.2 million votes that went unused by 18- to 24-year-olds actually been cast. "The vote matters. That's why you keep talking to people about the need to vote. Your generation can own what happens in the next election," he said. The chat turned to other topics next, including after-school programs, the Civil Rights Movement and Biden's admiration of Cardi for focusing on "decency, fairness, and treating people with respect" when she talks to people. When Biden praises Cardi's generation as "the smartest, the best educated, the least prejudiced, and the most engaged generation in history," saying millennials "are going to change things," Cardi agrees. "That's why I want the new generation, my fans, my people to go out and vote," she says. "I know we are so eager to make money, to look a certain way, to have style, celebrity gossip. And it's like, why don't we make a change for real and vote?"

As the Democratic National Convention kicks off this week, Reese Witherspoon, Shonda Rhimes and Mindy Kaling are doing what they can to support Joe Biden's running mate, Kamala Harris. THR reports the three Hollywood power players are set to co-chair Sen. Harris' first solo fundraising event since she signed on to run alongside presumptive Democratic presidential nominee. As of Monday, no date had been announced for the virtual event, but ticket prices have been announced — and they range from $500 to $100,000. THR notes that during her presidential campaign, nearly half of Harris' donations came from people on THR's "100 Most Powerful People in Entertainment" list, including Eva Longoria, Elizabeth Banks, J.J. Abrams and Anthony Anderson. The Republican National Convention will take place in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Aug. 24.
Lance Bass weighs in on pal, Britney Spears' conservatorship, 'out of character' social media videos
Lance Bass and Britney Spears have been close friends for many years, and as he acknowledged on a new edition of his "Daily Popcast," people frequently ask him what he thinks about her 12-years-and-counting conservatorship, . After telling listeners he usually "stays silent" on the matter because he's conflicted about whether she really still needs the conservatorship, whose future is currently under evaluation by a court, Lance expressed concern about her "out of character" social media videos. "Obviously she's got some problems," he allowed, according to E! News. "I don't know what she's going through, I don't know exactly what her diagnoses are but online these videos are definitely out of character for her. This is kind of a new thing. So something's going on. I think that's why a lot of the fans are like, 'She's being held hostage because she's acting so strange,' but I think it could just be her medication doing this." On the other hand, he said the videos, most of which have featured Britney exercising or showing off various fashion pieces, seem "kind of fun and positive" and seem to make her "happy," adding, I would be more worried if she disappeared from social media." The *NSYNC singer also assured listeners that he knows Britney's siblings well and "they would never want to hurt [their] sister and they would never go along with anyone taking advantage of her." Ultimately, Lance pointed to the fact that a judge oversees the conservatorship, so if the "#FreeBritney" contingent is right and the's being held against her will in some way, the judge should be held accountable. "I just think we need to trust the system," he added. "We can be skeptical and be conspiracy theorists all day long, but then you have to use common sense … She seems very happy and I'm just happy she's happy." Last month, Britney's brother, Bryan, expressed similarly conflicted feelings about the conservatorship, telling the host of another podcast she's long wanted out of the arrangement, but it's unclear how prepared she is for that. The conservatorship was recently extended until Aug. 22, pending evaluation.
Two men indicted in the 2002 death of Run DMC's Jam Master Jay
Nearly two full decades after Run DMC's DJ, Jam Master Jay (Jason Mizell) was murdered, two men have been charged in his killing. On Monday, prosecutors announced that a federal grand jury decided to indict Karl Jordan Jr. and Ronald Washington for allegedly conspiring to shoot Mizell dead in a recording studio in New York City's Queens neighborhood in 2002, according to CNN. "It was important to us then and remains extremely important to us now to bring justice for the victim, his family, friends and the community that cared so much about those events," said Seth DuCharme, the Acting U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York. Mizell died years before his contribution to hip-hop was recognized by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which inducted Run DMC in 2009. The group broke up following Mizell's death.
Lala Kent accuses designer Michael Costello of being a hypocrite after Kylie Jenner slam
"Vanderpump Rules" star Lala Kent is calling out designer Michael Costello for his recent complaint about Kylie Jenner's selective tagging habits. Last week, Michael griped on Instagram that Kylie only tags high-profile designers on her social media pics and doesn't bother giving credit when she wears pieces on social media that were created by less famous folks. According to Lala, Michael plays favorites with better-known celebrities, too. And she says she has firsthand experience. "What a clown. This dude. I literally blew him up to make my custom wedding dress — he would have gotten all the 'tags & @'s' he's talking about. But I never heard back from him… why? Because I'm not 'big enough,'" she posted (via Page Six). "So cool out, Costello-you do the same … [thing]." Because nobody ever really has the last word on social media, however, Michael, a "Project Runway" alum, clapped back at Lala on his Instagram Story. "You wanted us to dress you and we passed!," he wrote, sharing a screenshot of texts with her wedding planner. "You didn't want to buy anything we also confirmed an appointment for you and it was a no show! Why are you complaining a whole year later? God bless." Lala seemed satisfied when Michael admitted his team "passed" on working with her. "You made my point. You passed on me just like Kylie Jenner passes on you," replied. "Get over it." She didn't mention the alleged free dress request. Speaking to Page Six, Michael said in an email that Lala contacted him "in hopes of getting a free wedding dress but we explained to her team that we do not do any custom wedding dresses for free." He added that policy "has nothing to do with the level of celebrity or fame but everything to do with the fact that we take our bridal work very seriously." He said that at the time, he explained to Lala that, "it takes our team a couple of months to make a piece, from my drawings to the first fitting followed by multiple alterations." He said he also offered her 20 percent off her order. "Her assistant scheduled a consultation with me. I was looking forward to seeing Lala but she flaked. No cancellation. No call. No show," Michael continued. He added that it's "wrong" of "reality stars and influencers" to expect free custom pieces, given the amount of work that goes into them.
Adele praises the self-help book she says changed her life
Adele's been hard at work transforming more than just her figure this summer. On Friday, the super slimmed-down singer hopped on Instagram to praise the New York Times Bestseller, "Untamed," a memoir by Glennon Doyle. "If you're ready – this book will shake your brain and make your soul scream. I am so ready for myself after reading this book! It's as if I just flew into my body for the very first time. Whew!" Adele gushed. "Anyone who has any kind of capacity to truly let go and give into yourself with any kind of desire to hold on for dear life – Do it. Read it. Live it. Practice it. We are a lot! But we are meant to be a lot! .. 'A good life is a hard life!'" The singer went on to say that until she read "Untamed," she never understood, "that I am solely responsible for my own joy, happiness and freedom." Adding that that she never knew "our own liberation liberates those around us," she joked, "I thought we were meant to be stressed and disheveled, confused and selfless like a Disney character!" Adele's reportedly spent the better part of the year working with a personal trainer and using the sirtfood diet to keep her metabolism in good working form, according to Page Six.
Bethenny Frankel reveals she once tried to adopt a toddler
Bethenny Frankel revealed over the weekend that she once tried to adopt a 3-year-old — but found that adopting a toddler is even more challenging than adopting an infant. She was commenting on a People Instagram post about a little boy from Oklahoma who now has thousands of potential parents offering to open their doors to him after he spoke to a news outlet about how the only thing he wants in the world is "a family." Bethenny chimed in to say she'd adopt him, too, adding that her 10-year-old daughter Bryn was urging her to do so. In another comment, she elaborated on her experience with the adoption process. "The thing that surprises people is that once they get into the system, it is hard to get them out," she told another user on the thread. "Growing up, we always heard that everyone wants a baby and not an older kid. I tried a while back to adopt a 3-year-old and it was a harder process than a newborn. If it's like other family law systems, it's not as easy as the movies make it." That wasn't her only adoption attempt, either. In 2016, the former "Real Housewives of New York" star told People she was "definitely serious" about adopting a 5-year-old girl who'd been abandoned. Despite her effort to help, she eventually tweeted, "Lawyer says once w the state a private adoption impossible which is now upsetting me more." Bethenny shares Bryn with her ex, Jason Hoppy.
