Angelina Jolie reveals what she tells her daughters is 'the most important thing they can do'
Elle magazine's September 2019 edition brings attention to the glory of "wicked women," courtesy of a natural choice — "Maleficent" star, Angelina Jolie. The actress, activist and mother of six penned an essay for the magazine's cover story, explaining her take on why, as she puts it, those who have historically been deemed "'wicked women' are just women who are tired of injustice and abuse … who refuse to follow rules and codes they don't believe are best for themselves or their families … who won't give up on their voice and rights, even at the risk of death or imprisonment or rejection by their families and communities." Angelina continues, "If that is wickedness, then the world needs more wicked women." She goes on to say that because women are often expected to "nurture" others, they're at risk of compromising their own needs, which can send them "offtrack." "It can be hard to take the time to ask ourselves who we truly want to be — not what we think other people will approve of or accept, but who we really are," she writes. "But when you listen to yourself, you can make the choice to step forward and learn and change." That idea informs the way Angelina raises her daughters, Zahara, Shiloh and Vivienne, too. "I often tell my daughters that the most important thing they can do is to develop their minds," she writes. "You can always put on a pretty dress, but it doesn't matter what you wear on the outside if your mind isn't strong. There is nothing more attractive — you might even say enchanting — than a woman with an independent will and her own opinions."

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani 'still act like lovebirds' ahead of their fourth anniversary
Four years after falling in love while co-starring on "The Voice," Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are heading back to the set where those early sparks began. "They're coming up on their four-year anniversary, but Blake and Gwen still act like lovebirds," a source tells People. "They're really happier than ever, and being back where they first fell in love has been fun for them," the source says. "They can't believe how quickly time has flown by, and their relationship is very solid. Blake worships her, and Gwen feels very secure with him." Gwen and NBC recently announced her return to the show in the wake of Adam Levine's exit. "It's like she never left," says People's source. The insider isn't the only one who's noticed time seems not to apply to the musical pair. Back in June, Blake echoed a similar sentiment, telling People: "It's actually shocking that it has already been that long. It's kind of a blur. It still feels like it's pretty new to me. I guess it is, relatively. Four years isn't forever, but man, it seems like it just happened in no time." "The Voice" returns to NBC for Season 17 on Sept. 23.

Eva Longoria stopped by the "Today" show on Monday, Aug. 5, to promote her new movie, "Dora and the Lost City of Gold." But after a weekend in which at least 31 people were killed in mass shootings — including one in her home state of Texas — she also felt it was important to talk about the need for stronger gun control legislation in America. "Now, as a mom, everything makes me cry because I think about [how] that could've been my child, that could've been my mother," Eva said, referring to her 1-year-old son, Santiago (via ET). "… It's always heartbreaking and horrifying, but it's [not] inevitable. People think it's inevitable and it's not. We can change it. And I just hope that there's some real changes that are going to be made." She went on to point out the indifference that's taken hold as the country sinks further into an epidemic of gun violence. "People aren't really… getting outraged because it's not in their state, or it's not their child, or it's not their mom," she said. "But you have to think [that] this was somebody's mom, it is somebody's family member, it is somebody's friend. So I just think, you know, it is a mental health problem. I get that. But it's also a gun problem," she added, in light of Donald Trump's assertion that we're seeing more mass shootings than calendar days in 2019 because of "mental illness" rather than guns. "Being from Texas too, I understand the Second Amendment," Eva noted. "I grew up with, you know, that environment. And it's not about taking guns away, it's about making sure responsible people have them."

"I know you mean it kindly," another fan wrote to the commenter, "but 'you should have more kids' is not always a nice thing for someone who's struggled with fertility to hear." The original commenter took the note in stride, responding, "you're right ♥️ i know she freezed her eggs and it looked like it worked well for her but I'll keep that in mind for the future ✨." Rather than elaborate on the difficulties she endured, Chrissy told the first commenter, "all good!" and gave all her fans a clue about whether a third baby could be on the horizon. "Gonna try to wait a few years before attempting again," she wrote. "These guys are exhausting!"
A$AP Rocky hits Kanye West's Sunday Service after returning to the U.S. from Sweden
Two days after his release from prison in Sweden, A$AP Rocky celebrated his return to Los Angeles on Sunday, Aug. 4, with a visit to Kanye West's musical Sunday Service. Page Six reports the rapper, who was arrested last month for his involvement in a street fight he maintains was instigated by two men who attacked him and his entourage, was spotted talking to his rumored ex, Kendall Jenner, as well as Kanye at the gospel-oriented weekly event. Earlier that day, he shared a photo of himself with singer Tony Williams, a regular attendee and performer at Kanye's services. "THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART TO ALL OF MY FANS, FRIENDS AND ANYONE ACROSS THE GLOBE WHO SUPPORTED ME DURING THESE LAST FEW WEEKS," he wrote on Instagram on Saturday. "I CANT BEGIN TO DESCRIBE HOW GRATEFUL I AM FOR ALL OF YOU THIS HAS BEEN A VERY DIFFICULT AND HUMBLING EXPERIENCE I WANT TO THANK THE COURT FOR ALLOWING ME BLADI AND THOTO TO RETURN TO OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL OF THE LOVE AND SUPPORT." The rapper has said he was attacked after two men who appeared to be on drugs started harassing him and his security guard. The other men involved claim to have been hit with bottles in the fight. A judge in Sweden is expected to announce a verdict in the case on Aug. 14.
The 2019 Met Gala made Kim Kardashian West more nervous than her wedding
Kim Kardashian West had more than just that insanely tiny corset to worry about the night of the 2019 Met Gala. As she reveals in a new clip from the next season of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" published by ET, she was filled with anxiety before squeezing into her Thierry Mugler dress and hitting the red carpet with her husband, Kanye West. "I don't know why I have such anxiety for the Met. I feel this sense of pressure, responsibility," she tells the camera. "This is probably as nerve-racking as my wedding. I don't know why I get so nervous for the Met, maybe even more so, just because there's pictures from every single angle." That was even more true than usual, given that the famed designer came out of retirement to dress Kim in her "wet" look for the camp-themed gala. "It's such a full-circle dream come true," she mused in the clip. "But it's a huge responsibility because he, I'm sure, after not designing for 20 years, wants it to be something magical and special and new and I just want it to be perfect." Mugler retreated from fashion in 2003 after his Clarins line was closed. He told the New York Times in 2010 he essentially quit designing because fashion was no longer "enough" for his life.
Matthew Perry's condo hits the market as the most expensive condo in Los Angeles
Now that he's spending more time in New York City, "Friends" alum Matthew Perry hopes to unload the Los Angeles condo he's been renovating — he's looking to turn a pretty major profit on the property, too. Page Six reports the full-floor penthouse overlooking the Century City neighborhood is listed for $35 million, making it the most expensive condo in the Los Angeles market right now. Matthew reportedly bought the nearly 9,300 square foot, four-bedroom pad for $20 million in 2017. Its amenities include an in-home theater with a wall-length screen, four terraces, plush seating and carpeting, "sculptural lighting fixtures" and plenty of white marble. The hallway is apparently still decorated with Matthew's collection of "Batman" memorabilia. The realtors' listing also mentions the space comes with remote controlled curtains and "jet-liner views across the city."
Lindsay Lohan's rep denies the star is now pals with the crown prince of Saudi Arabia
Lindsay Lohan's rep is weighing in on a rumor that the actress is currently palling around with the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammad bin Salman. It's unclear what sparked the odd claim that Lindsay is now buds with the man accused of ordering the grisly murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, but according to Page Six, there have been whispers suggesting he's "been flying her around in his jets and showering her with presents — including a gift-wrapped credit card." The tab checked in with Lohan's rep, who confirmed the actress has met bin Salman. But the rep slammed LiLo's (alleged) friends' claim that Lindsay and bin Salman have exchanged texts and are friends, calling those claims "lies." Sources also told Page Six it's "not unusual" for "Middle Eastern dignitaries" to try to get close to the star. Said one insider: "They go crazy for her out there."
Ryan Seacrest's 'American Idol' negotiations may still be up in the air
This week, ABC announced Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie will all return to "American Idol." Whether the show's long-running host will be on board, however, remains to be seen. According to ET, ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke implied that negotiations about his return may be faltering. "I do not believe that he will not be [a part of Idol]. We are in ongoing discussions with Ryan about returning, and I'm hopeful that he will," Burke said. In a May interview, Ryan also sounded hopeful about doing "Idol" again. "My plan is to be back next year, of course," he told ET. "I can't imagine not doing this show."
