It's been 15 years since "Friends" concluded on May 6, 2004, after 10 incredible seasons. In celebration of the big anniversary, Wonderwall.com is taking a look back at what Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer and Matthew Perry have been up to in the years since their hit NBC sitcom came to an end. In January 2005, amid rumors that he'd fallen for his "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" co-star Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt separated after less than five years of marriage. She filed for divorce a few months later, and by that August, their marriage was officially over.
In 2005, Matt LeBlanc earned his third Golden Globe Award nomination — and his first following the conclusion of "Friends" — for his work on spinoff series "Joey." He finally took home a Globe in 2012 for his performance as a version of himself on "Episodes." (He scored his fifth Golden Globe nomination the following year.) Matt also earned Emmy nominations in 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2015 for his work on "Episodes."
In mid-2005, reports first surfaced that Jennifer Aniston had fallen for Vince Vaughn on the Chicago set of their film "The Break-Up." Though they initially denied the romance rumors, the duo were spotted canoodling that October. They ultimately parted ways in December 2006.
In mid-2005, shortly after "Friends" came to an end, Matthew Perry and cocktail waitress Rachel Dunn parted ways after an off-and-on relationship of about two years.
In 2006, Lisa Kudrow scored her seventh Emmy nomination — and her first for her performance as a character other than Phoebe Buffay on "Friends." (She was recognized in the best actress in a comedy series category for her work on "The Comeback.") She also earned an Emmy nomination in 2012 for executive producing "Web Therapy," Emmy nominations in 2012, 2014, 2017 and 2018 for executive producing "Who Do You Think You Are?" and her second Emmy nomination for best actress in a comedy series for her work on "The Comeback" in 2015.
In January 2006, Matt LeBlanc and Melissa McKnight separated after three years of marriage and nearly a decade as a couple. According to People magazine, the former model was blindsided by the breakup, which was inspired in part by Matt's relationship with another woman. (More on that to come!) In March 2006, the actor filed to divorce the mother of his daughter, Marina, who was born in 2004. The divorce was finalized in September 2006.
Matthew Perry started dating Lizzy Caplan in 2006. Their relationship reportedly came to an end in 2012.
Matt LeBlanc and "Joey" co-star Andrea Anders reportedly took their relationship to the next level in early 2006 while the "Friends" alum was still married to former model Melissa McKnight. They called it quits in late 2014 amid reports that he cheated.
In 2007, Matthew Perry earned his fourth Emmy nomination — and his first since "Friends" came to an end — for his work on "The Ron Clark Story." He also scored his first Golden Globe nomination and his first non-"Friends" SAG Award nomination that year for his performance as the titular elementary school teacher.
David Schwimmer first connected with British waitress-photographer Zoe Buckman in 2007. They got engaged three years later and secretly tied the knot in June 2010.
In 2009, Jennifer Aniston scored her sixth Emmy nomination — and her first for a performance as a character other than Rachel Green on "Friends" — for her work as a guest actress on "30 Rock." In 2015, she earned her first non-"Friends" SAG Award and Golden Globe Award nominations for her performance in "Cake."
In 2010, Courteney Cox earned her first Golden Globe nomination for her work on "Cougar Town."
David Schwimmer became a father in May 2011 when wife Zoe Buckman gave birth to daughter Cleo.
In July 2013, Matthew Perry opened up about a very personal problem in his life — addiction. The actor shared that he went from having a problem with alcohol to a problem with pills after a Jet Ski accident and that he dealt with these addictions while starring on "Friends" and handling massive fame. After getting sober, Matthew became an advocate for helping to rehabilitate addicts and even transformed his Malibu residence into a men's sober-living home called Perry House.
Courteney Cox and Snow Patrol guitarist Johnny McDaid were first linked in late 2013. They announced their engagement in June 2014 after a whirlwind six-month courtship but parted ways in late 2015. But that wouldn't be the end of their romance!
It wasn't truly over for Courtney Cox and Johnny McDaid! After an engagement and a split, the two reconciled in the spring of 2016. Though there's been no talk of wedding plans, he solidified the commitment by getting her initials tattooed on his right wrist in September 2016.
In May 2016, Jennifer Aniston's mother, former model Nancy Dow — from whom she was estranged on and off over the years — died at 79 "after enduring a long illness," the actress told People magazine in a statement. Nancy reportedly suffered strokes in 2011 and 2012.
The Chandler and Joey bromance lives on! At the Summer TCA press tour in August 2016, Matt LeBlanc got candid about his close friendship with former co-star Matthew Perry. "I can not see him for five years and then put me in a room with him and it'd be like I saw him yesterday," Matt shared. "We still shorthand with one another. It's amazing. Ten years in a building with no windows with the door locked, we got to know each other pretty well."
Courteney Cox opened up in August 2016 about an issue that most actresses don't address — aging and plastic surgery. Courteney spoke about her past plastic surgery regrets on "Running Wild With Bear Gryllis," sharing, "I have done things that I regret and luckily there are things that dissolve and go away. So that's good because it's not always been my best look."
After 10 years together and seven years of marriage, David Schwimmer and Zoe Buckman announced they would be taking time apart in April 2017.
Are we in for a Phoebe Buffay spinoff? Lisa Kudrow made news in June 2017 when word got out that she was in talks to star on a spinoff based on her "Friends" character. A source talked to In Touch magazine about the possible new show, explaining that it would likely feature a divorced Phoebe moving back to New York City. As of April 2019, the rumored spinoff had yet to move forward.
A new lady for Matt LeBlanc! Rumors swirled in late June 2017 that Matt was dating "Top Gear" host and producer Aurora Mulligan. The two met while working together on the show.
Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux shocked fans when they announced in February 2018 that they'd separated weeks earlier. The decision was "mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year," they said in a statement. "Normally we would do this privately, but given that the gossip industry cannot resist an opportunity to speculate and invent, we wanted to convey the truth directly." The exes also insisted they wanted to "maintain the deep respect and love that we have for one another."
Matt LeBlanc spoke out for the first time about his rumored romance with producer Aurora Mulligan in March 2018. When asked on "The Graham Norton Show" if he spends his time in Los Angeles or London, Matt responded, "It's half and half. I have a flat here with my girlfriend but my home is in L.A." He added, "I spend a lot of time here so I have to kind of like it!"
Matthew Perry had a very serious health scare during the summer of 2018. The former "Friends" star underwent abdominal surgery to repair a gastrointestinal perforation that June. Matt tweeted about his recovery in September, writing, "Three months in a hospital bed. Check."
David Schwimmer returned to network television in late 2018 when he landed the recurring role of Noah Broader on the "Will & Grace" reboot. Noah is a cantankerous divorced writer who's Grace's love interest on the show.
TV fans rejoice! Jennifer Aniston will be returning to television for the first time since "Friends" wrapped in 2004. The A-list actress is set to star on the Apple TV+ drama series "The Morning Show" alongside fellow movie star Reese Witherspoon. The series is scheduled to premiere in late 2019.
There's nothing better than a "Friends" reunion! In April 2019, former co-stars and current besties Lisa Kudrow and Courteney Cox met up for a fun girls night in. Lisa shared this adorable Instagram selfie of the two crying from laughter, writing "My eyes! My eyes!"
