Kanye West interviews psychiatrists, meets with Trump

Kanye West is taking the lead in managing his recovery following his mental health hospitalization. Judging from news Yeezus met with a certain controversial reality show producer-turned soon-to-be leader of the free world on Tuesday, Dec. 13, he's also apparently taking cues of some kind from President-elect Donald Trump. (It's unclear whether the Donald knows Kanye's recent onstage Trump-backing rant came right before he was hospitalized in a psych ward; perhaps that tidbit was included in one of the security briefings our leader-to-be declined to hear.) Political discussions aside, TMZ reports the rapper and producer is in New York interviewing candidates for the medical and psychiatric team that will provide care when he's on the East Coast. He's reportedly all set with a crew in Los Angeles and plans to have additional treatment staff on hand in New York so he can remain bi-coastal without compromising his health. The website also reports that in addition to being careful about taking his medication, he's focused on relaxing versus stress-inducing projects. No word yet on how this week's trip to Trump Tower fits into Kanye's de-stressing plan. According to NYMag.com, he told reporters he and the Donald met to discuss "life."

John Legend missed a big Luna milestone

Even world famous pop star status comes with its own share of downsides. Speaking to Us Weekly at the BBC Music Awards where he was performing this week, John Legend admitted he recently missed a key moment in his 8-month-old daughter, Luna's development. "She said 'mama' the other day. I missed it," said the deflated new father. Even worse? She "said 'dada' as well," John revealed. In happier news, John still has plenty to smile about these days. This week, the singer's new, Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling-fronted film, "La La Land," snagged a Critics Choice Award and seven Golden Globes nominations, including one for Best Picture.

Taking a cue from Hillary Clinton's "stronger together" mantra, Lady Gaga put her differences with Madonna behind her after the elder pop icon's moving Billboard Woman of the Year acceptance speech last week. "@Madonna your speech at the Billboard Music Awards was inspiring. You're so brave & strong. Thanks for being that for us girls we need that," Lady G. tweeted on Monday, Dec. 12. Madge used her moment in Billboard's spotlight to acknowledge the particular challenges she's faced as a woman in music. "Thank you for acknowledging my ability to continue my career for 34 years in the face of blatant misogyny, sexism, constant bullying and relentless abuse," she said (via Us Weekly). "When I first moved to New York, I was a teenager, it was 1979, and New York was a very scary place. In the first year, I was held up at gunpoint, raped on a rooftop with a knife digging into my throat, and I had my apartment broken into and robbed so many times I just stopped bolting the door." Madonna went on to take issue with society's expectations for women. "You are allowed to be pretty and cute and sexy. But don't act too smart," she said. "You are allowed to be objectified by men and dress like a slut, but don't own your sluttiness. And do not, I repeat, do not share your own sexual fantasies with the world. Be what men want you to be. But more importantly, be what women feel comfortable with you being around other men. And finally, do not age because age is a sin. You will be criticized. You will be vilified. And you will definitely not be played on the radio."

An insider tells the New York Post the Casamigos owners sent their whole staff on an "epic four-day trip" to Mexico for their year-end bash. The source said the event "consisted of day parties, tequila lunches, a few daytime meetings, jet-skiing, beach dodgeball, volleyball, beautiful dinners, night parties, glow-in-the-dark golf and fireworks." And, we assume, copious tequila.

Zendaya reflects on her Disney-to-Marvel transition

It often seems like child stardom is a one-way ticket to rehab, arrests and unsavory TMZ headlines. Zendaya, who stars in the new "Spider-Man" movie, happily proves that rule doesn't always hold up. The actress and musician covers the new issue of Allure, where she opens up about her trajectory from Disney to Marvel star. "Everything has been a climb. And I've been able to take my family and friends with me. I came from humble beginnings," she says. As for her "K.C. Undercover" role, she adds that "plenty of people are like, 'Why is she still on Disney Channel?'" The 20-year-old's answer? "Well, I waited and waited for the right part, and now I get to be in Spider-Man." She also used her moxie to get ahead from Day One. "I just popped up out of nowhere," she says, when asked about her Disney audition. "And I was kicking a–. I came. I knew what I wanted. I think they saw that." Today, Zendaya's almost as well known for her confidence and willingness to speak her mind as she is for her acting and music. Look no further than her response to Giuliana Rancic's admittedly ignorant comment about Zendaya's dreads at the Oscars last year. "I heard about the comment through Twitter, and my first reaction was angry—I got really mad," Zendaya says. "Then I realized this has nothing to do do with us. Andy, it seems, was more interested in kissing than answering questions, as evidenced by his first smooch with Trudie. On another turn, Trudy planted a wet one on Andy. Finally, to even things out, Andy shared the wealth — and kissed Sting. "Are we out of time?" Andy asked as the segment came to a close (via E! News). "I already got what I wanted out of this game."

William H. Macy: Emmy Rossum deserves better pay for 'Shameless'

If Emmy Rossum wants more money for her work on "Shameless" than the pay William H. Macy is earning for the same show, William won't stand in her way. The actor chatted with TMZ this week and came out swinging for his colleague, who is negotiating for a higher salary after being paid substantially less than her co-star for many years. The actor minced no words when asked about the situation, telling the website "it's about f—— time" Emmy and other women get paid equal sums of money for equal work. "She works as hard as I do. She deserves everything," he said before joking, "The only thing I've got over Emmy Rossum is I'm better looking!" The actress has threatened not to return for the next season of "Shameless" if her demands are not met.
