Beyonce reveals how Blue Ivy Carter, 8, 'melts [her] heart'
In her new cover story for the December 2020 issue of British Vogue, Beyonce opens up about everything from her foundation's work to fight COVID-19 and help young people afford college educations to the role fashion and African designers played in "Black Is King." She also gets candid about her relationships with the kids she shares with husband, Jay-Z. "Every Friday, we would dress up in my clothes or make clothes together and take each other's pictures," she says of the "ritual" that helped her and Blue, 8, and twins Sir and Rumi, 3, "handle this crazy year together." As for the social justice issues that have come to the fore in recent months, Bey says her approach to parenting in 2020 is "to love [her children] harder than ever," and encourage them to speak openly about their feelings. "Blue is very smart, and she is aware that there is a shift, but it is my job as a parent to do my best to keep her world as positive and safe as can be for an 8-year-old," Bey says. "I let my children know that they are never too young to contribute to changing the world. I never underestimate their thoughts and feelings, and I check in with them to understand how this is affecting them," she continues. "Blue saw some of the reactions to the 'Brown Skin Girl' video, as well as some of the videos from the philanthropic work I've done this year. When I tell her I'm proud of her, she tells me that she's proud of me and that I'm doing a good job. It's teeeeeew much sweetness. She melts my heart." Bey adds, "I believe the best way to teach them is to be the example."

The Kardashian-Jenner krewe is facing a fresh wave of birthday party-related backlash. Kendall Jenner celebrated her 25th birthday over the weekend with a Halloween-themed bash at Harriet's Rooftop at 1 Hotel in the West Hollywood section of Los Angeles. Guests included Kendall's family and friends like her sisters, Kylie Jenner, Kourtney Kardashian and Kim Kardashian West, as well as Kanye West, Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Justin Bieber and Jaden Smith. As photos from the costume party began to surface online, though, social media users noticed there was a distinct lack of masks and social distancing in effect. "Ok Kendall Jenner blowing out candles as a masked waiter holds her cake and tries to move out of the way was actually the scariest thing I saw on Halloween," one Twitter user posted, sharing a video from Kylie's Instagram Stories. A report from TMZ claims about 100 people attended the party, in spite of California's ban on gatherings of more than three households amid the surging coronavirus pandemic. Kris, however, told Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM show Monday that everyone was tested for COVID-19 once "a few days before Halloween," and again at the venue before they were allowed to enter the space. She also said the family are all tested "once or twice a week" while filming "Keeping Up With the Kardashians." Still, some took issue with the family's access to that many rapid tests, with griping that "normal people can't get tested … unless they're showing symptoms," and then they have to wait for the results, which is the case in multiple states. Said Kris: "You know, we do what we can, we try to follow the rules." The criticism comes on the heels of complaints Kim was "tone-deaf" for posting photos of her mask-less family celebrating her 40th birthday on a private island last month.

Cardi B files to dismiss her divorce filing after reconciling with Offset
Just six weeks after Cardi B filed for divorce from her husband Offset, she's asked the court to dismiss her original Sept. 15 filing — with one caveat. TMZ reports the rapper filed the motion to dismiss "without prejudice," which allows her to file for divorce again in the future, if necessary. The couple, who share 2-year-old daughter, Kulture, reconciled over Cardi's birthday weekend, with Offset making it clear on social media that he wanted to work things out. Among the multiple gifts he bestowed on the birthday girl was a new Rolls Royce, although Cardi shut down fans who suggested it was the gifts that won her over. "It's hard not to talk to your best friend. It's really hard not to talk to your best friend," she said in a video in mid-October. "People saying I took him back because I'm materialistic," she said later, shaking her head. "We're just really typical, two young folks… who got married early. That's who we are," she explained. As of Monday afternoon, a judge still had to signoff on the dismissal motion.

#TaylorIsFree trends as Taylor Swift becomes free to re-record her back catalogue
In the months leading up to election day, the concept of November 2020's instilled no small degree of anxiety in American voters. For another group, however, November 2020 means something much more positive. Over the weekend, the phrase #TaylorIsFree started trending on Twitter, thanks to Taylor Swift's fans, who were excitedly posting about the singer's ability to re-record her old material as of this month. "The whole year felt like a whirlwind and now finally TAYLOR IS FREE," one fan tweeted on Sunday. "We all will be deleting all of her old music from our playlists and apps and will only be streaming Taylor's art owned by Taylor. That's it." The singer lost ownership of the masters from her back catalogue and to the ability to re-record music she wrote for her first five albums in July 2019, when Scooter Braun bought Big Machine Records, essentially giving him the rights to all of her pre-"Lover" music. The singer subsequently wrote an open letter detailing the situation that sparked a massive feud with Scooter, who went on to claim he was getting death threats. In August 2019, Taylor confirmed in an interview with Robin Roberts for "CBS Sunday Morning" that she planned to re-record the albums, "Taylor Swift," "Fearless," "Speak Now," "Red," and "1989," explaining that her contract would allow her to record the music again beginning in November 2020. "I'm very excited about it," she said at the time. "I just think that artists deserve to own their own work. I just feel very passionately about that." If she follows through with the plan, the move could have widespread ramifications for how music rights ownership works for other artists, as well.
Donald Trump slams Lady Gaga at rally
As President Donald Trump and his opponent, former Vice President Joe Biden, wrapped up their final day on the campaign trail Monday, Trump reportedly lashed out at Lady Gaga. Though his comments were vague, they appeared to be a follow-up to a recent Twitter spat he and his campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh had with the singer, who was referred to as an "anti-fracking activist" in campaign materials Gaga pointed to over the weekend. Speaking at a rally in Pennsylvania Monday, the same day Gaga was slated to perform at a campaign event for Biden, the president said of the former VEEP, "Now he's got Lady Gaga. Lady Gaga is not too good. I could tell you plenty of stories. I could tell you stories about Lady Gaga. I know a lot of stories about Lady Gaga …," according to JustJared. It's unclear whether he elaborated on those "stories," but The Hill reports Gaga was involved with Yoko Ono's Artists Against Fracking group in 2012. Despite Trump's claims Biden would ban fracking if elected, Biden has maintained he wants to ban "new gas and oil permits on federal land, which only accounts for a small percentage of the industry," according to The Hill.
How 'DWTS' will proceed after Jeannie Mae's surprise departure
In the wake of news "The Real" co-host Jeannie Mai has been forced to exit "Dancing With the Stars" for health reasons, Season 29 host Tyra Banks announced the Monday, Nov. 2, show would scrap plans for a double elimination, ET reports. The "Relay Dances" were still scheduled to proceed as planned, though without Jeannie and her partner, Brandon Armstrong's Viennese Waltz relay performance. Jeannie, 41, confirmed Monday that she had to be hospitalized for emergency surgery after doctors diagnosed her with epiglottis, a rare but "potentially life-threatening condition that occurs when the epiglottis — a small cartilage 'lid' that covers your windpipe — swells, blocking the flow of air into your lungs," according to the Mayo Clinic. "I am heartbroken that my DWTS journey has to end here," Jeannie told People in a statement published Monday. "The last several weeks have been an amazing learning experience. I have pushed myself to new limits physically and mentally, and I am so proud of how far we've come," the statement continued. "I can't thank my partner Brandon enough for being so supportive and believing in me. I also want to thank MAI fans who voted every week and I wish everyone else in the competition the best of luck!" Speaking to ET, Tyra said the condition came as a complete "surprise," while Season 29 contestants including AJ McLean and Cheryl Burke posted best wishes for Jeannie's speedy recovery, calling her "such a light on this show."
Anne Hathaway reveals her best Catwoman advice for Zoe Kravitz
As Zoe Kravitz returns to her Catwoman costume on the set of the new Caped Crusader flick, "The Batman," a former Catwoman has some (non)-advice to share with the star. Anne Hathaway, who played Catwoman in 2012's "The Dark Knight Rises," recently spoke to Collider about what she'd pass along to Zoe based on her experience with the character. After acknowledging that Zoe "doesn't need my advice," Anne did offer her thoughts on how Zoe might deal with the fact Catwoman's previously been played by a long and esteemed list of stars including Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry and Lee Merriweather. "If I had any advice it would be literally don't listen to anybody because I think the only way to play that role is to give your version of it," "The Witches" star said. "All of us had different directors and all of our interpretations were specific to the films that they were in, kind of like my Grand High Witch is specific to Bob Zemeckis and Angelica Huston's is specific to Nicolas Roeg's, and that's great! And all the Jokers were specific to each director they have, and so I don't think you can get too bogged down with the comparison. And especially when you're not the one doing it because your job is to give yours. And I'm so excited to see what she does with it. I thought she was a perfect choice."
Women's rights groups praise British court for dismissing Johnny Depp's libel case
In an online ruling issued Monday, a British judge dismissed Johnny Depp's libel case against News Group Newspapers and The Sun's executive editor Dan Wootton, which Depp claimed falsely branded him a "wife beater" during his marriage to Amber Heard. In the decision, Justice Andrew Nicol wrote that what the outlet published in a 2018 article about the former couple's relationship appeared to be "substantially true," including claims Depp, 57, assaulted Heard repeatedly, according to the New York Times. "I accept that Mr. Depp put her in fear of her life," Nichol wrote. "I also accept that Ms. Heard's allegations have had a negative effect on her career as an actor and activist," he added later in the document. Heard, 34, testified during the trial on behalf of the publisher, detailing 14 incidents in which Depp allegedly hit her, head-butted her, pulled out clumps of her hair and smashed a phone by her face. Depp denied the claims and his legal team argued Heard was the instigator and attacker in the arguments, but Nicol pointed to text messages between the two, among other things, that he believed showed Depp abused Heard. Women's rights groups in the U.K. including Refuge, which provides support for victims of domestic violence, praised the court for its decision, which Refuge spokesperson Lisa King said she hopes "sends a very powerful message," that "every single survivor of domestic abuse should be listened to and should be heard." Depp, meanwhile, is still suing Heard in the U.S. for writing an op-ed for The Washington Post about raising her voice about her experience "with sexual violence," a choice for which she said she later "faced our culture's wrath."
Common gushes about Tiffany Haddish amid split rumors
If there's any truth to online rumors Tiffany Haddish and Common have split, it must be news to Common, because he couldn't stop gushing about the "Girls Trip" star on Monday's "The Karen Hunter Show" on SiriusXM Radio. "We're doing wonderful," the rapper and actor said when asked about their relationship, according to Page Six. "She's a really incredible human being, and the more I get to know her, I just see how dynamic she is as a person. How intelligent, how selfless she is, how she stands up in Hollywood for Black women. I'm learning. You know what I mean?" He went on to praise her for refusing to work on projects that don't have adequate minority representation or to advocate for the addition of Black women to crews. "I think it takes that type of courage and mouthpiece and rawness to get the equanimity that we've been looking for – the equality that we talk about," he explained. "Especially within – any area of life – but then the Hollywood structure, sometimes you have to shake them up and say, 'Hey, y'all, this is what it has to be.'" Finally, the seemingly smitten star noted that the two simply have a good time together, telling the show host, "She's also fun. She's fun. And ultimately…the one thing that I'll say about anyone I've dated that you named, I like good-hearted people, and Tiffany has a good heart at the end of the day." The couple reportedly started dating earlier this year after meeting on the set of "The Kitchn" in 2019.

Selena Gomez is "fine and healthy" despite the IV fans spotted in her arm during a recent Instagram Live chat with Timothee Chalamet. That's according to TMZ's sources, who tell the outlet the IV was not an indication of any new or worsening medical issues — it was apparently just a vitamin drip, much like the one Justin Bieber's been spotted using in the past. Selena, 28, has openly discussed her battle with lupus, her kidney transplant and the mental health treatment she's received in recent years with fans and reporters.
