Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas — who debuted their romance in Cuba in early March — spent the coronavirus pandemic becoming practically attached at the hip and marking several milestones in their relationship. It started in mid-March when the A-list actor was snapped joining his new girlfriend as she went house hunting in the Los Angeles area. The following month, the duo made their relationship Instagram official: On April 30, the "Knives Out" star shared a slideshow of photos of herself celebrating her 32nd birthday with her beau in the California desert. (The slideshow included a selfie with the Oscar winner and a shot of Ben and Ana taking in the sunset with their arms wrapped around each other.) The happy couple shared their love with the world again when they appeared in the celeb-stuffed music video for Residente's song "Antes Que El Mundo Se Acabe," which debuted on May 14. (They contributed a clip of themselves kissing during Ana's birthday bash.) Then on May 23, they were snapped walking their dogs in Los Angeles with the three children Ben shares with ex-wife Jennifer Garner: Violet, Seraphina and Samuel. On the May 18 episode of his eponymous podcast, Brian finally confirmed what was becoming more and more obvious: He and Megan quietly separated late last year after nearly a decade of marriage and 15 years of coupledom. Although multiple media outlets reported that Megan and MGK had taken their relationship to the next level, Brian insisted that cheating wasn't a factor in his breakup from the actress — and as far as he knew, Megan and MGK were just friends. They certainly seemed like more than friends when they nearly kissed in the music video for the rapper-actor's new song "Bloody Valentine," which dropped on May 20.

The "La La Land" star further stoked the secret-wedding talk when she referenced marriage while chatting with another featured guest on the episode, Dr. Harold Koplewicz. (She first signed a divorce petition on April 17 but was told that New York courts were, at the time, only handling emergency divorce petitions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.) Her efforts to end her marriage hit another roadblock when, according to Page Six, a Manhattan Supreme Court Justice ruled on May 14 that her situation did not constitute an emergency.
