Courteney Cox and David Arquette to reunite for new "Scream" movie
Courteney Cox will be reprising her role as reporter Gale Weathers in the fifth installment in the "Scream" franchise, the actress shared on Friday, July 31. In an Instagram video post, "I can't wait to see this face again," flashed against a photo of the iconic "Scream" mask. Cox's ex-husband, David Arquette, who she met while filming the original 1996 film, will also appear in the fifth installment, once again playing Sheriff Dwight "Dewey" Riley. "I am thrilled to be playing Dewey again and to reunite with my Scream family, old and new," Arquette previously said about the new movie. "Scream has been such a big part of my life, and for both the fans and myself, I look forward to honoring Wes Craven's legacy," he explained of the the original director, who passed away in 2015. Both Cox and Arquette, who share daughter Coco, 16, have appeared in all of the films in the series. Pending the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, production is hoping to begin this year in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Kanye West continues conversation around his abortion confession
Earlier this month, Kanye West hosted a political rally in South Carolina where he shared that he and wife, Kim Kardashian West, had considered aborting their first pregnancy, which resulted in the birth of their daughter, North West. "My dad wanted to abort me. My mom saved my life. There would have been no Kanye West because my dad was too busy. I almost killed my daughter! I almost killed my daughter," he said at the time. His rant, part of his presidential campaign, led to Kardashian West addressing his bipolar diagnosis. In response to the public reaction to his emotional confession, he tweeted on July 31, "I cried at the thought of aborting my first born and everyone was so concerned about me… I'm concerned for the world that feels you shouldn't cry about this subject."

Naya Rivera's final TV appearance is now streaming
What is likely to be Naya Rivera's last television appearance is now streaming on Netflix. The "Glee" actress, who tragically drowned while boating on Lake Piru with her son Josey, earlier this month, appeared as a guest judge on the baking competition "Sugar Rush." The show, which is in it's third season, was filmed in February, before productions shut down due to COVID-19. In the episode, Rivera joins host Hunter March, along with chefs Candace Nelson and Adriano Zumbo, to assess the baker's avian-themed desserts. On the show, March asked if the actress bakes. "I do," she said. "I have a four-year-old son so you're kind of required to know how to bake at that point." She also shared that her son's favorite baked good is her chocolate chip cookies.

Ryan Reynolds launches diversity program
Ryan Reynolds has self-financed and launched a diversity and inclusion program called The Group Effort Initiative, which works to give people of color a chance to work and learn on his productions. Reynolds will bring on 10 to 20 trainees who are black, indigenous, other people of color or people from marginalized communities. The paycheck and housing for these trainees will come out of Reynolds' salary. "I've had a front-row seat to the immense talent of so many artisans, storytellers and experts," Reynolds told The Hollywood Reporter. "Being a member of a film crew is a special experience — but that privilege hasn't been extended to everyone. There's a ton of untapped talent out there. This action is the right thing to do, but it's worth noting that inclusivity will also make our industry stronger and more dynamic. We will tell better stories." As of right now, the first project the initiative will focus on is his upcoming, untitled time-travel adventure film for Netflix. Production is on pause due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dwayne Wade and Gabrielle Union praise daughter Zaya at GLAAD Awards
On Thursday, July 30, Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union presented the award for Outstanding Drama Series at the GLAAD Awards. During their speech, which they presented virtually, they also took the time to praise 13-year-old daughter, Zaya. "We stand as allies with the LGBTQ+ community as proud parents of a transgender child," the NBA star said. "Our daughter Zaya is leading us in our journey, and we're doing all we can to give every one of our kids the ability to live their truth." He continued by saying he did not always understand how to be an ally, "I thank Zaya for teaching me, and GLAAD for elevating the images and messages that accelerate acceptance in every family." In February, Union, who is Zaya's step-mother, introduced her to the world. "Meet Zaya. She's compassionate, loving, whip smart and we are so proud of her," the 47-year-old actress tweeted. "It's ok to listen to, love & respect your children exactly as they are. Love and light good people."

In a new interview, Drew Barrymore discusses the possibility of her daughters, Olive, 7, and Frankie, 6, getting into the family business. Barrymore, 45, started acting at just 11 months old, with her debut role in a dog food commercial. She continued acting through childhood, with roles in movies like "E.T.," "Firestarter" and "Irreconcilable Differences." "I would be the first person to help them, but not before 14 or 15," the actress told Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell on a video chat for a "Drew's Movie Night," screening of their movie "Good Burger." She continued, reflecting on her own experience being in the public and eye and working her whole life. "I have all sorts of wonderful baggage that I would never let go of or have it any other way, because I wouldn't be exactly who I am at this moment in time without those experiences."
Seth Rogen reveals fate of a "Pineapple Express" sequel
In a new interview on "SiriusXM's The Howard Stern Show," Seth Rogen chatted about his cult-classic stoner comedy, "Pineapple Express." The 38-year-old shared that he wanted to make a sequel to the movie. "Thanks to the Sony hack, you can like actually find the email when Sony killed the movie. It was something we were very open to several years ago, but Sony was not that interested in it," Rogen, 38, explained, referring to the 2014 hacking which released information from Sony including employee emails, executive salary information and copies of unreleased films. Stern asked why the studio declined to make the sequel, to which Rogen said, laughing, "I think we probably wanted too much money. Studios, they don't like giving away money. Weird thing."

"Bachelor" and "Bachelorette" host Chris Harrison is celebrating two years with girlfriend Lauren Zima. "This was the first crazy leap of faith you took for me and with me two years ago. Beverley Mitchell opens up about one of her scariest moments as a mom
In a new Instagram post, Beverley Mitchell is opening up about one of her scariest moments. Earlier this month, Mitchell welcomed her third child, daughter Mayzel "Mayzie" Josephine Cameron, with husband Michael Cameron. She shared on July 30 that an event last week had her rattled as a mother. "I am not a worrier, and actually motherhood has settled me and I am usually pretty levelheaded. I don't panic, I act," she explained. But last week, her newborn daughter experienced a spike in heart rate, as Mitchell discovered from her Owlet monitor. "The next day she was out of it, not wanting to eat, very sleepy, barely awake, and her eyes would not focus and fully glasses over. Then add a slight fever and I was a mess," the 39-year-old wrote. She wrote that she was afraid of going to the emergency room due to COVID-19, but the parents ended up deciding to bring her in. "I do not regret going to the ER, I was grateful to find that she was given a clean bill of health and honestly gave me a chance to breathe. That helplessness and fear was crippling and being unable to figure out what was wrong made me feel powerless. Allowing myself to rely on others is hard for me, I don't ask for help, I just handle it, but this experience humbled me. It reminded me that I DO have a tribe, people who are willing to help, that I am not alone! This is always hard for me. I am happy to say that Mayzel is much improved and we think she just had a little bug!" she wrote. Mitchell thanked the doctors at Children's Hospital Los Angeles and reminded her followers to follow their instincts, lean on friends and never be afraid to ask for help. She finished her post thanking her number one supporter. "I couldn't be more grateful for my ROCK, Michael you hold me together and I couldn't do this life without you! I love you babe, you are the best daddy ever!!"

"Scandal" star Katie Lowes is pregnant, she revealed in a new Instagram post. The actress, who is already a mom to a son, Albee, 2, with husband Adam Shapiro, shared a series of photo to the social media site of herself at various sonogram appointments, wearing a face mask and Facetiming Shapiro. "We want to share some good news! Baby #2 coming November 2020," she wrote. "Adam, Albee, and I are so excited!" Lowes' post was flooded with love, with Chelsea Handler commenting, "Somebody was getting busy during covid!!!! Yahoo!" and well wishes from Katharine Foster, Jenna Ushkowitz and Laverne Cox.
