Kanye West did better than expected with ballots in just a dozen states
"WELP." That — along with an electoral map showing he'd lost — was how Kanye West initially conceded defeat on Twitter in the 2020 presidential race early Wednesday, according to EW. He later deleted the post and shared the same image with the caption, "2024," implying, as he has previously, that he intends to run again. On Tuesday, the rapper posted that he'd voted for himself in his first experience participating in an election. As it turns out, he didn't do terribly for someone who announced his candidacy on July 4 of this year, was accused of running as a pawn to detract votes away from Joe Biden, bungled the few campaign appearances he made at apparently struggled with manic bipolar episodes during what should have been the key planning stages of his White House bid. According to JustJared, Kanye earned about 60,000 votes nationwide, with the best numbers coming from Tennessee (10,216). Speaking to Joe Rogan on a recent edition of Joe's podcast, Kanye referred to himself as a "visionary," saying, "I believe that my calling is to be the leader of the free world. It was something that God put on my heart back in 2015."

Meghan McCain is missing her late father on her first election since his death
Meghan McCain, who welcomed her first child with husband Ben Domenich in September, spent much of Tuesday thinking about her late father, Sen. John McCain, and what he imparted to her about the nation's government. "My first Election Day without my dad is my first with my daughter Liberty," "The View" cohost tweeted as what's been a contentious presidential race reached its final day of voting. "Feeling overwhelmed w nostalgia and warm sentiments about the circle of life," she continued. "I love Election Day, always will. Don't let ugly fleeting politics remove what's beautiful about our democratic process." Both Meghan and her mother, Cindy McCain, have spoken highly of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, a longtime family friend. In a social media post earlier this fall, Cindy endorsed Joe, writing, "We are Republicans, yes, but Americans foremost."

What's next for Lori Loughlin as she begins her prison sentence?
It's been less than a week since Lori Loughlin began serving her prison sentence for fraud related to the national college admissions scandal, and already, outlets have published conflicting reports about how the former "Fuller House" star is faring behind bars. A report from Us Weekly claims Lori — who plead guilty to charges she and her husband Mossimo Giannulli paid a $500,000 bribe to get their two daughters into USC as rowing recruits — is "a wreck" as she worries "something will go horribly wrong in prison or that her stay could be prolonged." While Yahoo dismisses that claim as false, Mercury News reports the star does have a tougher road ahead of her because of COVID-19. She'll start her sentence in quarantine, possibly alone, for two weeks, according to the outlet, which quotes a former white-collar crime inmate of a nearby California prison as saying Lori's high profile could make things more difficult for her when she does join the general population. Meanwhile, Dublin, the prison East of Los Angela's where the actress is incarcerated, has a ban on family visits. How any of that will pan out remains unclear; previous reports have also suggested her time may well be cut short because of the pandemic. Mossimo is slated to begin his five-month prison sentence on Nov. 19.

When it came to proposing to Gwen Stefani, Blake Shelton first made sure the other guys in the No Doubt star's life were comfortable with his plan. The guys in question, of course, were Gwen's dad and the three sons she shares with ex Gavin Rossdale — Kingston, 14, Zuma, 12, and Apollo, 6. "Blake told her boys that he wanted to propose and asked their permission," a source close to Gwen tells People of Blake's chat with the boys. Last month, an insider told E! Blake also asked Gwen's father's permission to pop the question, a traditional move she reportedly found super sweet. "Her family very much approves of him," the People source explains. "He's an amazing partner and a great extra dad to the boys. Gwen is ecstatic." Blake surprised his girlfriend of five years with a ring last month while the two were on his ranch in Oklahoma. They reportedly kept their engagement private for a few days before announcing the news on social media last week.
'The Witches' sparks backlash over appearances of main characters
Warner Bros. has issued a formal apology for its depiction of the villainous main characters in Robert Zemeckis' new remake of "The Witches." New photos show the actress made up to appear she has two "split hands" — with three webbed fingers on each— in the film, a choice that quickly garnered condemnation from the Paralympic Games and Paralympic swimmer Any Marren, who explained on social media that while, "it's not unusual for surgeons to try and build hands like this for [those] … with limb differences … It's upsetting to something that makes a person different being represented as being scary." Amy also used the hashtag #NotAWitch, seemingly wet referencing a moment in the movie that involves a "how to spot a witch" lesson, with the idea being witches are often missing toes or fingers. "We the filmmakers and Warner Bros. Pictures are deeply saddened to learn that our depiction of the fictional characters in The Witches could upset people with disabilities, and regret any offense caused," a rep for the studio told E! News this week in a statement. "In adapting the original story, we worked with designers and artists to come up with a new interpretation of the cat-like claws that are described in the book. It was never the intention for viewers to feel that the fantastical, non-human creatures were meant to represent them. This film is about the power of kindness and friendship. As "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" inches toward its final season, Kris Jenner has been attracting interest as a potential contestant on other reality shows. Offset delivers food to voters in line in Atlanta on Election Day
As voters in Offset's home state of Georgia faced long lines at the polls Tuesday, the Migos rapper did what he could to keep their spirits up. Video published by multiple outlets showed Cardi B's husband visiting three polling places in the all-important Gwinnett and Fulton counties, where he passed out food from two popular local cheesesteak joints and spoke to voters over a bullhorn about his excitement about voting for the first time this year. According to USA Today, Offset's food delivery project was a joint effort with The Lincoln Project, which posted at one point that the rapper was "threatened" by the Gwinnett County government in what the political action committee chalked up to an example of voter intimidation. Both Offset and his wife Cardi B have endorsed Joe Biden.
Lady Gaga's dad supports Trump after president slammed singer
After an increasingly heated back-and-forth between Donald Trump and his campaign team and Lady Gaga on social media recently, the singer performed in Pennsylvania at a rally for Joe Biden on Monday while the president, speaking at a rally of his own, slammed Gaga, calling her "not too good," and telling the crowd he could "tell you a few stories about" the singer. Though he didn't elaborate on the "stories," the tone was clearly negative. That apparently didn't stop Gaga's dad Joe Germanotta from supporting the president. On election day, Joe indicated his voting plans by tweeting "realDonaldTrump 2020″ and, in a separate post, "You may have noticed my political and spiritual beliefs are different. liberty and freedom of choice would not be political." Gaga, meanwhile, reminded Biden supporters Monday of the infamous 2005 "Access Hollywood" tapes in which The president was accidentally recorded bragging about his ability to "grab" women by private parts of their anatomy. "To all the women, to all the men with daughters and sisters and mothers," Gaga said at Biden's rally, according to The Independent. "Everybody, no matter how you identify, now is your chance to vote against Donald Trump, a man who believes his fame gives him the right to grab one of your daughters, or sisters, or mothers or wives by any part of their bodies." Trump has been accused of rape, sexual assault and sexual harassment by at least 25 women since the '70s, including at least three women who filed suit against him over the alleged incidents, according to Wikipedia.
Justin Timberlake surprises volunteers on the campaign trail in Zoom call
One advantage of living in a Zoom call-centric world? It's a whole lot easier to meet your favorite pop stars — just ask the group of volunteers for Joe Biden's campaign who were treated to a surprise virtual visit from Justin Timberlake just before Election Day. In a video clip the singer shared on Instagram Monday, JT stuns the group when he dials into their Zoom call. As they gasp and yelp with excitement, he explains that he "just wanted to come on and tell you guys that you've got a huge fan in me," especially given their Pennsylvania location. "Your city, your state is going to be huge in this election," he says of Philly, historically a Democratic stronghold in the battleground state. After chatting with volunteers about how they got involved in the campaign, Justin reiterates how important their efforts are. "I always was told when I was young that the hardest work that you do is the work that nobody gets to see," he says. "I think that really is apropos to what you guys are doing behind the scenes for the campaign."
Garrett Hedlund completed a treatment program for drugs and alcohol earlier this year
Multiple outlets reported Wednesday that Garrett Hedlund voluntarily underwent a month-long residential treatment program and drug and alcohol education counseling earlier this year. According to People, the actor, who's expecting his first child with girlfriend Emma Roberts, was arrested for DUI on Jan. 24. He reportedly had a court date a month later, although details about that are unclear. After Us Weekly's initial report about the arrest, Garrett's rep told People he feels his treatment was "successful" and "today he's in a great and solid place."
