How Kelly Clarkson lost nearly 40 pounds
Lookin' good! Kelly Clarkson co-hosted the "Today" show on Friday, June 8, where she opened up about her major weight loss to Hoda Kotb. Turns out it had nothing to do with exercise. "I don't work out. I mean, I should, [for my] heart and stuff. I do wine instead," she joked (via ET). The singer and mother of four went on to explain she was diagnosed with an auto-immune disease and a thyroid problem in 2006. She's since read a book called "The Plant Paradox," and it's changed her entire eating regimen — and, apparently, her figure. The book, she said, is about, "understanding food and understanding what we do to food." Once she took its contents to heart, the weight just came right off. "It worked wonderfully for me. It's, like, 37 pounds, like that's a side effect," she said. "Here's the best part, y'all. It's not even the weight. I mean, I know the industry loves the weight gone, but for me it wasn't really the weight, for me it was [that] I'm not on my medicine anymore. My blood work came back and I haven't been on my medicine since, like, February." Kelly also revealed she's still eating the food she loves. "Honestly, it's the same stuff you eat, I just use different ingredients," she explained. "I still have, like, cake. Like, literally, I still have everything the same as I did, even, like, fried chicken, but I use, like, casoid flour, tapioca, or almond flour. And I use, like, non-hormone chicken." Before changing the subject, she made a low-key plea to the powers that be to make diets like hers more accessible in this country. "Honestly, I'm going to be real with you. It's really expensive to do. I wish the government would really back humanity on this because it's really, really hard to find [ingredients]," she said. "I was poor growing up, there's no way my family could have afforded this. It helps out so much with health. Like I said, my auto-immune disease is, like, gone. And I'm, like, 37 pounds lighter!"

Mila Kunis says Ashton Kutcher 'empowered' her to try producing
On Wednesday, June 6, Variety welcomed industry leaders to a one-day conference on "eliminating gender bias in media and entertainment." In a keynote conversation with Mila Kunis, an editor for the magazine spoke with the actress and newly minted producer about what led her to broaden her focus and take on an off-camera role. "I've worked with so many incredible producers and I worked with so many not incredible producers that I realized that production was so dependent on that, that I wanted to fix it from the ground up," Mila said, according to Us Weekly. "I didn't realize that that's now how you get stuff done until I met my husband [Ashton Kutcher], who empowered me more than anybody else because he was like, 'Get on the phone. When they're negotiating, get on the phone and start negotiating yourself.' And I was like, 'No! That's what other people do.' And he was like, 'Learn, learn.'" Mila also spoke frankly about basic gender differences she's discovered now that she and Ashton are parents to their daughter, Wyatt, 3, and son, Dimitri, 16 months. "Yes, raising girls that are independent and smart and great is a wonderful job and we should all do it, but what's more important is to teach boys to have respect," she said. "The one thing that I learned — and I have a boy and a girl — is this constant of, like, 'OH, they're just a boy. Oh, that's just a boy thing. Boys do that.' No, they don't. They don't have to punch. They don't have to pull hair. They don't have to tease because they're a boy. Like, that's not a constant. We don't have to make it a constant." Earlier this year, speaking to Ellen DeGeneres, Mila admitted her kids are "incredibly different," and cited their different genders as part of the reason. "My boy's like a sloth," she said, joking with the TV host. "He's wonderful and I love him … One day he'll probably watch this and be like, 'Why did you say that?' … But the truth is, women are smarter than men. And I have this evidence from my two different humans that I created."

Anthony Bourdain had contemplated suicide before: 'I don't know that I would do that today'
The culinary world was left reeling and shocked amid news of Anthony Bourdain's suicide on Friday, June 8. Although the chef and writer had spoken openly about his struggles with depression that "could last for days" but as People reminds us, he had recently nixed the idea of taking such a final step, telling the magazine he felt "some responsibility" to "at least try to live" ever since the birth of his daughter, Ariane, now 11. "I also do feel I have things to live for. There have been times, honestly, in my life that I figured, 'I've had a good run — why not just do this stupid thing, this selfish thing … jump off a cliff into water of indeterminate depth,'" he said in February. "In retrospect, I don't know that I would do that today — now that I'm a dad or reasonably happy." Presumably referencing his girlfriend, Asia Argento, he said he was "happy in ways that I have not been in memory" and "happy in ways I didn't think I ever would be, for sure," thanks to "somebody really strong." Calling him her "love," her "rock" and her "protector," Asia said in a statement about Anthony's death that she was "devastated." The beloved chef was 61.

On Thursday, June 7, George Clooney found himself surrounded by loved ones including his wife Amal, his close friends, Rande Gerber and Cindy Crawford, and celeb pals like Julianna Margulies, Jimmy Kimmel, Anna Kendrick, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Don Cheadle and Cate Blanchett, as he was feted by the American Film Institute, which honored him at its 46th Lifetime Achievement Award Gala in Los Angeles. Before he accepted the award, Amal spoke about her husband, sharing touching details about what makes him worthy of the honor — and of her love. "First, he is a gentleman," she said, according to Us Weekly. "He is a gentleman in every sense of the word and in a way that seems so rare these days and perhaps even outdated," the 40-year-old gushed. "He is generous with his time. He finds out about people who have suffered the same health issues as him and he writes to give them advice. He helps young people pursue their passion for film. He'll visit an elderly lady at our local nursing home as he thinks it will make her day." She added: "[He] is the person who has my complete admiration and also the person whose smile makes me melt every time. My love, what I have found with you is the great love I always hoped existed. And seeing you with our children, Ella and Alexander, is the greatest joy in my life." The levity of the award, however, seems not to have dampened George's affection for silliness. When Us checked in to ask the father of twins how the family celebrated Ella and Alexander's recent first birthday, George replied: "Well, the kids got drunk. I don't know what you guys were doing, but I came home, they had a bottle of booze. It was really embarrassing, but they're feeling better today." Julia Roberts had planned to present the award to the actor and director but a film project's production schedule got in the way at the last minute, so she (and Brad Pitt) pre-taped speeches in his honor.
Pete Davidson gushes about Ariana Grande at Hollywood Improv Club
Pete Davidson is smitten with a capital "s." The "SNL" star stopped by Hollywood Improv comedy club this week and when an audience member shouted the name of his new girlfriend, Ariana Grande, he apparently lit right up. One clubgoer tells E! News Pete joked that he didn't have any material prepared because "life's good so there's nothing to complain about," while another tells the outlet he replied to hearing her name by saying, "it's pretty dope, huh?" Says a third source: "… That's when he started saying how he felt so lucky like he won the lottery and couldn't believe he was so lucky. He said he's gonna 'ride this one out!' After that, he kind of got into more of a comedy act, but it was pretty sweet because that was the most genuine and happy he seemed during the whole thing."
Alice Marie Johnson wants to help Kim Kardashian fight for prison reform
Now that she's had her life sentence commuted, Alice Marie Johnson says she's ready to help the woman she credits with getting her out of prison help others. "Kim was the key," Alice told TMZ this week. "Without Kim going in and personally presenting my petition to President Trump … this would not have taken place." She went on to say it "would be a great honor to join Kim" in fighting more broadly for prison reform and urged the reality star not to listen critics who may not understand her. "I know the heart of Kim Kardashian," Alice said, "and it's genuine."
Bill Murray is opening a food truck hub in Charleston
Bill Murray's growing empire of "Caddyshack"-themed restaurants are getting a sister eatery. The New York Post reports the star's been planning a food truck project for years. Now, the Charleston Post and Courier reports Bill and a group of partners are planning to open The Container Bar, a hub for the trucks with an indoor/outdoor bar built from shipping containers, in downtown Charleston, South Carolina. The spot was initially an office building before Bill bought it with Brad Creger and Mike Veeck and opened a restaurant there. They hope to finish transforming the venue into its new incarnation by August.
Justin Bieber sued, accused of using 'racial epithets'
Justin Bieber has been sued by a man he fought with outside the singer's Cleveland hotel following Game 3 of the 2016 NBA Finals. The Blast reports Rodney Cannon has filed documents accusing Justin of becoming "irate" and demanding Rodney delete a photo he apparently took of him. According to Rodney, Justin allegedly issued "threatening communications made in public in front of a number of people including racial epithets." Sources tell The Blast that during the argument, Justin used "N" word, which he's been accused of hurling in the past. Rodney claims the fight that ensued left him with a concussion as well as "mental and emotional injuries." The singer has been involved in multiple lawsuits in the past stemming from his interaction with photographers.
New Zealand decides Matt Lauer's 'good character' persona is intact, he may keep farmland
Even Katie Couric, who was friends with Matt Lauer during their shared "Today" tenure and has said he never acted inappropriately around her, found the allegations of his sexual misconduct with NBC employees "disturbing." Authorities in New Zealand, however, don't seem to think there's evidence to indicate his "character" is out of whack. That's according to the New York Post, which reports the country has completed an investigation about the former TV personality in order to determine if he should be allowed to keep hunter Valley Station, the 26,500 acre farm he's leased near Queenstown since last year. New Zealand reportedly maintains a provision that requires "foreign buyers of important assets to be of good character," according to the Post. At least three women have accused Matt of various forms of sexual misconduct; he was fired from "Today" last fall.
Lindsay Lohan spotted at her new Lohan Beach House in Greece
Actress and club maven Lindsay Lohan was still hanging around her new Lohan Beach House on the Greek island of Mykonos this week in the wake of the venue's opening at the end of May. According to Just Jared Lindsay was spotted smiling and wearing beach gear at the property on Thursday June 7. Boasting a beachfront location, a restaurant, boutique and "wellness center," the Lohan Beach House is the second social spot in Greece to bear Lindsay's last name. She opened her eponymous "mega-club" in Athens back in 2016.
