Kelly Ripa explains her concern about her daughter going to college in NYC
When Kelly Ripa and her husband of 23 years, Mark Consuelos' daughter, Lola, moved out on Aug. 25, the "Live With Kelly and Ryan" host wrote on Instagram that "the nest is getting roomy." As Kelly explained to Ryan Seacrest on his radio show on Tuesday, Sept. 3, she wants her home's near-empty nest vibe to last because that means Lola's working out who she is and what she wants and needs in life. "College is where you start establishing yourself as an independent person, so when you send your kid … off to college and your kid stays local … if she feels homesick, I have to say to her, 'You can't come home. You have to work it out,'" she explained, according to Us Weekly. "I treat it [like long-distance]. I did the same thing for my son. 'You're going to have to figure it out.' My main concern was, 'I don't know if you should be this close to home because I don't want you using home like it's your home. I want this to be your experience.'" Kelly, who also shares Michael, 22, and Joaquin, 16, with Mark, went on to say she's had trouble convincing her children to find colleges they like on the West Coast — if only to give her an excuse to spend more time out there. "I tried getting my daughter to go to school in San Diego. I tried," she told Ryan. "I am so desperate to get any of my kids to go to school on the West Coast. I want Thanksgiving on the West Coast. Who wants to go to school with a climate that's so terrible?" Instead, Lola opted to attend NYU's Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music. Lola's brother, Michael, also goes to NYU, making Kelly's chances of a warm and sunny holiday season pretty slim. On the plus side, Lola did warn her mom she wouldn't be dropping by Kelly and Mark's pad as if she still lived there her first semester. As Kelly told Ryan on "Live" last month, the college drop-off scenario involved a lot of threats from Lola to the effect of, "Don't think I'm gonna be home before Thanksgiving because I'm not." Joked Kelly: "To that, I said, 'I'll see you in four hours when you come home because you don't know how to use the washing machine!'"

Whoops — Kim Kardashian West got drunk and leaked her own baby news
Turns out Kim Kardashian West and Kanye West had no intention of announcing they were expecting baby No. 4 as early as they did. Then they threw a holiday party, Kim got wasted and the rest is history. In a newly released bonus clip from "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," Kim admits to her mom, Kris Jenner, her sister, Khloe Kardashian, and Scott Disick that she leaked the news she and Kanye were expecting Psalm. "I told someone at Christmas Eve and I don't remember who I told 'cause I was drunk," she says in the clip, according to People. "Multiple people?" asks Scott. "Are you upset?" Kim laughs and says, "No, 'cause I mean, it was my fault. That's why I don't drink!" To be fair, the idea of having four young children at home probably warrants a little pre-baby stress relief — and it sounds like that's what Kim was going through at the time. "At first I was having so much anxiety," she says, "just because I'm going to be a mom of four." Scott then jumps in, joking, "Look at your mom, she's got 19 kids. She's not stressed." (Badum-ching!) Kim and Kanye's fourth child, Psalm, was born via surrogate in May. The couple also shares North, 6, Saint, 3, and 19-month-old Chicago.
Justin Bieber gushes that 'getaways with' Hailey are all he needs
Their formal (second) wedding celebration is just around the corner, but Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber already seem to be in honeymoon mode. On Tuesday, Sept. 3, the couple, who got legally married in a New York City courthouse last September, shared photos from a romantic beach date, complete with snacks, cold beer and a gorgeous view of the ocean. "Getaways with you are all I need," Justin captioned one shot. Hailey posted a selfie of the two cuddling up together that she captioned, "The most perfect day with my person :)." The R&R break comes just one day after Justin opened up on Instagram about how his rise to fame affected his mental and emotional health and contributed to his abuse of drugs from the age of 19, which in turn destroyed his relationships and left him "a shell" of himself. The post ended with his thoughts about how marrying Hailey, by contrast, led to his "navigating the best season of" his life. A source tells People the couple have had "a great summer," between planning their wedding and in Justin's case, getting back to the studio. "He really seems to be back feeling more like himself," says the insider. "And he seems very motivated to create new music." The source added that, "for the first time in a long time, he is really addressing the things he needs to address," pointing to Hailey as a key factor in that. "Hailey is his biggest supporter," the source says. "She is there for him in a way that you wouldn't expect from a newlywed. She understands him deeply and is 100 percent ready help him. He realizes how blessed he is to have her." Justin and Hailey are reportedly planning to say "I do" before family and friends later this month in South Carolina .

Heidi Klum's East Germany-born husband gifts her a piece of the Berlin Wall
Make love, not walls! That was the gist of a message Heidi Klum shared with her Instagram followers this week after her new husband, Tom Kaulitz, presented her with a special gift — a piece of the Berlin Wall, painted by famed street artist Thierry Noir. Sharing a video of the piece being moved onto the couple's property, Heidi wrote, "Today a special gift from my husband arrived… a piece of the Berlin Wall that had separated East & West Berlin for 28 years." She went on to explain the significance the piece has for the pair, both of whom were born in raised in Germany. "My husband was born behind the wall on the East Berlin side 4 weeks before it was torn down in 1989. This allowed him to grow up in a Germany that was unlike the country his own parents had grown up in…," she wrote. "He was able to experience freedom and joy and creativity and art and hope. Every morning, I will look at this beautiful piece in my garden with the knowledge that walls do not need to be built… they need to come down." The Berlin Wall stood as a separation between West Germany and Communist East Germany for more than 28 years. Heidi's post comes amid news the Pentagon has canceled $3.6 billion worth of military projects in order to build Donald Trump's wall along the Mexican border.
Sarah Jessica Parker gears up to launch her first wine
Sarah Jessica Parker officially joins the growing list of celebs in the wine-making business this month. According to Page Six, the "Sex and the City" alum is set to launch an eponymous sauvignon blanc — Invivo x SJP — in September. (In July, Food & Wine reported the release was slated for Sept. 18, although no firm dates seem to appear on newer promotional posts about the launch.) The actress began teasing the new product on social media earlier this summer, gushing about her experience working with New Zealand's Invivo & Co to produce the wine. Made from grapes grown on various estates in the Marlborough region, the blend boasts notes of "grapefruit, honeysuckle flower, passionfruit, and citrus zest," according to Food & Wine. It's also very much a product of Sarah's personal taste and style — she reportedly hand-painted the original label, which features a teal "X" as a nod to her email signature, "X, SJP," in a shade based on the "Hamilton" teal color that one of her top-selling SJP Collection shoes comes in. the sauvignon blanc starts at $18, according to Food & Wine. SJP and Invivo are expected to release a rose in 2020. Other celebs with their own wine brands include Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Pink, Emilio Estevez, Wayne Gretzky and Guy Fieri.
Shay Mitchell's boyfriend doesn't want her to have an epidural when she gives birth, says she's 'genetically engineered to get through' it
Shay Mitchell and her boyfriend, Matt Babel, have very different opinions about the birth plan for their first child together. On the Wednesday, Sept. 4, edition of their YouTube show, "Almost Ready," Shay says she wants an epidural when she goes into labor because she's "terrified of giving birth." Matte, however, believes that because Shay is female, she is naturally designed to endure childbirth and therefore should not have any anesthesia. "I need Matte to silencio and give me a little bit of space so I can figure [this] out," she says at one point, according to Us Weekly. "I need to get Matte to understand a little bit more how this actually feels, and the struggle that it is." As the couple attempt to talk through their different viewpoints, Shay notes that Matte would never have a root canal without anesthesia because the pain would be so intense. "I'm a hypochondriac, I'm afraid of drugs," he says, somewhat confusingly. "I meet women all the time who choose not to get an epidural … he continues. "A root canal is not comparable because you're not born to go through [a root] canal. As a woman, your body is genetically engineered to get through birth." Matte's natural childbirth position isn't the only subject on which he fancies himself an expert in the mechanics of the female body. Later in the show, while discussing breast-feeding, Shay points out that "some women don't want to" breast-feed. "I'm against that and I think some women are too," Matte says."If you have the innate ability to breast-feed and the kid latches, why wouldn't you want the best for your baby? The physical connection, the things you get from breast-milk if you can do it. If you can't, that's rough, I get it." After suffering a miscarriage, Shay announced in June that she and Matte were expecting their first child together.
Princess Charlotte will attend school as Charlotte Cambridge starting this week
When Princess Charlotte heads to school for the first time on Thursday, Sept. 5, she'll use her given name, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana, nor her title of "princess." In a move that bodes well for positive playground hangs with the other 4-year-olds at St Thomas's Battersea, Prince William and Duchess Kate's daughter will instead go by Charlotte Cambridge a la her dad, the Duke of Cambridge, according to People. Customarily, British princesses don't use surnames. Charlotte's school-name will match that of her brother, Prince George, who goes by George Cambridge — and also attends St Thomas's Battersea. Both William and his brother, Prince Harry, also used a surname attached to their father's royal affiliation in school, taking the names William and Harry Wales in honor of Prince Charles, aka the Prince of Wales.
