Miley Cyrus 'didn't expect' Liam's divorce filing as an insider says he felt it 'was time to move on'

When a rep for Miley Cyrus — followed by Liam Hemsworth — confirmed earlier this month that the newlyweds were calling time on their marriage, the announcements used phrasing like "taking time" and "separated," implying they hadn't decided whether to divorce. Now that Liam, 29, has filed to officially end their marriage of just seven months, a source tells People Miley, 26, is surprised but looking towards the future. "She didn't expect it and is a bit disappointed, but she is still doing well and has obviously moved on as well," says a source close to the singer. "What she and Liam had for a long time was very special," the insider continues. "It's just hard for her to think that she will never have this again with Liam. There are really so many things that she loves about him. … She isn't trying to hurt him, but she wants to share what she's been going through. She's channeling her emotions into her work and leaning on her family and friends." One of those friends is clearly Kaitlynn Carter, who recently split from Brody Jenner and has been enjoying more than a little bit of PDA with Miley in Europe and Los Angeles since the news of Miley and Liam's split broke. Liam, meanwhile, seems to have decided that after a decade of on-off romance with Miley, something had to give. An ET source says, "Liam's decision to file for divorce is sad, but in the end, it was never going to work," citing the irreconcilable differences Liam referenced in his Wednesday, Aug. 21, divorce filing. "They are too different. Liam never wanted to share Miley with anyone. He loves her and he is far too traditional. He finally realized he just wants to start fresh," says ET's source. "Liam has come to terms that it was time to move on." Liam has been spending time with his "supportive" family at home in Australia, the insider adds. "At first, Liam wanted to just give it time but he finally felt like things were getting nasty and he didn't want to drag it out publicly. He decided it was all too much."

John Mayer just won the Instagram 'new photo rule' hoax

In case you missed the memo: Time to slow ya roll with the Instagram photo rule reposts. Yes, the grammatical mess of text that popped up all over Insta on Tuesday, Aug. 20, declaring the platform unable to touch a user's content once its alleged new rule allowing IG to use your posts however they like originated in a hoax — back in 2012. Of course, this bit of truthiness — courtesy of multiple news outlets — did not stop your friends and favorite celebs from reposting the message they believed would save their photos, etc. Believing themselves to be officially exempt from the (fake) rule because they'd shared the (hoax) statement, stars like Pink, Josh Brolin and Usher dutifully got themselves punked before realizing what was up. In Rob Lowe's case, it took his son John to alert him by commenting, "Oh god 🤦🏼‍♂️. You literally have a son who went to Law School. @matthewedwardlowe come get him," via People. Pink eventually got the update, too, and commented, "better safe than sorry" on her post. John Mayer, meanwhile, chimed in with a little sarcastic humor, announcing Instagram now has the right to "publish, distribute, and/or sell any or all of my digital content … including but not limited to … *my world famous meatloaf recipes *Joe Camel fan fiction *Fight Club film flubs *photographs of sinks *drawings of Jenga Jengison, my imaginary porn star made of wooden blocks," and last but not least, his "*woke magic tricks." He added: "This post I made on my phone shall stand as a legally binding document, in perpetuity throughout the universe." If such a position as "Sarcasm Influencer" exists, somebody please give Mayer the gig.

Fans spot a sixth toe in Kim Kardashian's latest Photoshop fail

"Why you got six toes," Kim Kardashian West? That's what more than one fan wanted to know after Kim shared a promotional photo for the new fragrance she's launching this week with her sister, Kylie Jenner. The pic shows the sibs side-by-side in skintight, one-legged pastel unitards making their best runway faces. Alas, even their best Kar-Jen riff on "Blue Steel" failed to distract users from noticing that the way the photo was edited made it look as if Kim had sprouted an extra digit out of her perspex sandal heels. "Am I tripping or does Kim have 6 toes? Someone explain, I'm so confused! I counted so many times," asked another user, according to the Daily Mail. The flub comes after fans noticed Kim's thumb looked abnormally long in another photo from the fragrance campaign that went public last week. A few weeks ago, she was also dragged by followers asking things like, "what happened to your face?" after seeing a photo pegged to her KKW Matte Smoke & Matte Cocoa Collections in which her nose and mouth were unrecognizable. As for this week's Photoshop fail? As Perez Hilton put it in the comments, "That sixth toe is iconic."

Ryan Reynolds responds to fan asking him to save 'Spider-Man' amid Disney-Sony impasse

Can Deadpool save Spider-Man? Marvel fans sure seem to hope so. Deadline reported this week that Disney and Sony failed to reach an agreement that would allow Spider-Man's character to continue appearing in Marvel films, an impasse Sony later essentially blamed on the workload that's been foisted on Kevin Feige, the lead producer of the "Spider-Man" films. Details of their disagreement aside, fans on social media made it clear all they care about is keeping Spidey alive in the Marvel Cinematic Universe — and that they think Ryan and/or his Marvel character, Deadpool, might be able to make that happen. In addition to a storm of memes featuring Spider-Man and Deadpool, CNN noticed an exchange between one fan who asked Ryan and Tom Holland (the most recent movie version of Spidey) directly on Twitter, "Can we get a Spiderman & Deadpool movie now @VancityReynolds @TomHolland1996," Ryan tweeted in response: "You can. But you can only see it in my heart." Hardly a resounding "yes" …

Lizzo's tweet gets a response from Hillary Clinton after Mitch McConnell quoted the singer

Could Lizzo be the unifying force that finally brings America together in 2020? As the eagle-eyed pol-slash-pop watchers over at HuffPo point out, both Hillary Clinton and Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell referenced the singer's hit, "Truth Hurts," this month. Though the original tweet has since been deleted, McConnell posted a line from Lizzo's song in a twitter response earlier in August. Now, it looks like Hillary's team is on the Lizzo bandwagon, too. On Tuesday, Aug. 20, the singer shared a video of Clinton, Bernie Sanders and other 2016 presidential candidates preparing to listen to the National Anthem. Lizzo spliced "Truth Hurts" over the song, though, highlighting the opening line, "why men great 'til they gotta be great," a reference to men in power who are held up as exemplars of greatness — then get elected, are expected to prove said greatness and, presumably, fail. On Wednesday, Clinton and her team replied to Lizzo's tweet by posting the G-rated part of the next line, "I just took a DNA test, turns out …" As Lizzo fans are aware, the rest of that line says, "… I'm 100% that b—-."

Artist drops lawsuit against Ariana Grande

Ariana Grande is off the hook in a lawsuit filed against her claiming she didn't have rights to an image of a woman in a candle flame that appears in her video for "God Is a Woman." The Blast reports visual artist Vladimir Kush and his company Kush Fine Arts Las Vegas has voluntarily dismissed the suit after having "met a resolution" with the singer. Kush initially claimed the image in question looked exactly like a piece he painted in 1999 and 2000. He wanted damages and to have the video taken down immediately. it's unclear what he and Ariana's camp agreed to, but according to The Blast, the entire thing has been dismissed.

Millie Bobby Brown launches her own vegan beauty line for Gen Z

The Bobbi Brown makeup empire's about to get some competition. "Stranger Things" star Millie Bobby Brown announced this week that she's launched her own beauty and skincare line. Two years in the making, the collection is called Florence By Mills and focuses on "safe, colorful and useful makeup" that won't cause breakouts, according to MTV News. "I wanted to come into the space because there was a gap in the market for young people," the 15-year-old actress recently told WWD. "I guess I could never find anything that I liked to put on my face and it felt good. I'd take off my makeup and boom, another pimple would appear," she recalled. "There are multiple different products I've put on that weren't good for me. Some of those were anti-aging, and I was 10 years old." As Millie told fans on Instagram on Tuesday, Aug. 20, all Florence By Mills products are clean and vegan. They're also priced for younger shoppers, ranging mostly between $10 and $35 per item. Millie's new collection will soon be available online as well as at brick-and-mortar Ulta and Boots stores.

Nina Dobrev spotted without crutches after injuring her foot

"Vampire Diaries" alum Nina Dobrev is apparently recovering from an injury the Daily Mail suspects was sustained during a mechanical bull ride the star indulged in while hanging out with her boyfriend in Pennsylvania a couple weeks back. Nina, 30, was spotted on crutches a handful of times since photos of the bull-riding situation surfaced on social media earlier this month. This week, however, she stepped out for coffee in Las Angeles, sans crutches. She hasn't addressed the injury other than sharing a photo of herself maneuvering around on crutches on Aug. 13. "Fun," she deadpanned in the caption.

Lori Loughlin reportedly wants a plea deal after all in college admissions scandal case

"Fuller House" star Lori Loughlin and her her husband, designer Mossimo Giannulli, raised eyebrows when they rejected a plea deal in the case filed against them for their alleged involvement in the college admissions scandal. Now, Us Weekly is reporting Lori's back peddling on her initial plan, though she still hopes to avoid doing time behind bars. According to an Us source, the 55-year-old actress "has asked her lawyer to negotiate a plea deal that would involve no jail time, but home confinement with monitoring via ankle monitor." The insider adds that while Lori's "willing to pay a substantial fine, over $2 million" to avoid prison, "any deal would involve significant jail time." Mossimo, 56, still reportedly believes he can be "fully exonerated." The couple is accused of paying some $500,000 to get their daughters into USC on bogus rowing scholarships.

Taylor Swift to rerecord early Big Machine music?

In an upcoming interview for "CBS News This Morning," taylor swift will announce plans to rerecord her early music as a means of regaining control of the masters Scooter Braun got when he bought Big machine Records for $300 million. The move was recommended after the sale by Kelly Clarkson and as TMZ reports, Prince once did something similar. Things may not pan out in taylor's financial favor, though. According to TMZ, there's almost certainly a rerecord clause in taylor's initial label contract that will limit the timeframe and some standards of any rerecording she could do. Big Machine is also now said to be worth as much as $1 billion … The interview is expected to air this weekend.
