Miranda Lambert takes her husband on a working vacation in Hawaii

Miranda Lambert mixed business with pleasure over the weekend, courtesy of the BMI Songwriters Festival in Maui, Hawaii, and her husband, Brendan McLoughlin, who joined her for the trip. Photos posted to the singer's Instagram show her beaming as she wraps an arm around her guy against a series of gorgeous backdrops including a waterfall, a sunset and a lush expanse of gardens. "Thank you @bmi songwriters festival for having us back this year. Maui is a magical place. Playing music here with great friends is a dream. Headed home for family time!" she captioned the shots. According to ET, Miranda's work-related duties at the festival ranged from performances to songwriting sessions with performers like Maren Morris and Willie Nelson. Miranda and Brendan, a New York City Police officer, secretly tied the knot in early 2019. As she recently told Health magazine, it was pretty much love at first sight.

Cardi B gets candid about reconciling with Offset after he cheated

For Cardi B, love has lots of layers and some of them aren't pretty. But as she tells Vogue in the magazine's January 2020 cover story, some things are worth working through. Cardi's marriage to Offset is clearly one of them. "Everybody has issues," she said in a candid talk about her husband's infidelity last year. "I believe in forgiveness. I prayed on it. Me and my husband, we prayed on it. We had priests come to us. And we just came to an understanding like, bro, it's really us against the world," she continued. Cardi, who shares 1-year-old daughter, Kulture, with Offset (Kulture appears with her mom on Vogue's cover), explained how and why it hurt when Offset cheated as well as how it felt when the outside world decided she should leave him over it. "He has my back for everything, I have his back for everything, so when you cheat, you're betraying the person that has your back the most. Why would you do that? We have come to a clear understanding. For me, monogamy is the only way," she said, adding, "I'll beat your a– if you cheat on me." Still, Cardi said, when she chose to stay with Offset and "work together with him" through what happened, "a lot of people were so mad at me; a lot of women felt disappointed in me." She continued: "But it's real-life s—. If you love somebody and you stop being with them, and you're depressed and social media is telling you not to talk to that person because he cheated, you're not really happy on the inside until you have the conversation. Then, if you get back with them, it's like, how could you? You let all of us down."

Kanye West staged "Mary," his second opera over the weekend, using the Christmas nativity story as his story guide — and whole lot of silver body paint as part of his costume. According to a review from Pitchfork, 'Ye showcased his latest work on the final day of Art Basel Miami at Miami Marine Stadium, a boat-racing venue accessible only by watercraft. Once the production began — an hour after the announced start time — the rapper and his Hollywood-ified Sunday Service choir reportedly performed from a floating barge, covering new arrangements of some of Kanye's older songs as well as Christmas classics like "O Holy Night." It's unclear what the budding opera producer did to tie tracks like "I Thought About Killing You" to "Drummer Boy," but the reviews seemed slightly more favorable overall than those for " Nebuchadnezzar," his operatic debut.

Khloe Kardashian clarifies her sisters' contract responsibilities amid Kourtney drama

Last month, Kourtney Kardashian confirmed she was taking a less central role in "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" going forward. Now, details about the discussions that led to that decision are turning up on the show — and on social media. This past weekend's episode showed Khloe Kardashian and Kim Kardashian West taking issue with Kourtney's assertion that she needs more private time, having allowed what she's since determined was an unhealthy amount of her relationship with ex, Scott Disick, to play out on TV. As Kim said in a confessional (via Us Weekly) after she and Khoe accused their sister of keeping things from the cameras, the less Kourtney appears, the more sharing of their personal lives Kim and Khloe have to do to pick up "the slack." Kourtney stood her ground, though, which led one Twitter user to ask why Kylie Jenner and Kendall Jenner don't seem to have the same pressures to appear on camera that their sisters do. "This ain't shade AT ALL but do Kendall and Kylie have different contracts now for #KUWTK? cos Kendall rarely films and Kylie isn't featured a whole lot? 👀 #KUWTK," the fan asked. "Kendall and Kylie have different contracts," Khloe revealed in response. "Kourt, Kim and I have an equal contract." Speaking to ET last month, Kourtney said she's "not saying goodbye," she's just appearing a bit less in Season 18, which was still being filmed at the time.

Why Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' wedding pics will no longer appear on Pinterest

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' wedding photos will soon be removed from Pinterest and possibly other websites. E! News and Buzzfeed report Pinterest and The Knot have adopted policies that preclude images that glorify plantation weddings from appearing on them, relegating Blake and Ryan's 2012 Charleston nuptials off-limits since they were held at the Boone Hall Plantation. The new policies were reportedly a response to pressure from civil rights advocacy group Color of Change, which sent letters to Knot Worldwide and Pinterest detailing what's wrong with the sites being complicit in romanticizing the venues, given their history. "Plantations are physical reminders of one of the most horrific human rights abuses the world has ever seen," the letter said. "The decision to glorify plantations as nostalgic sites of celebration is not an empowering one for the Black women and justice-minded people who use your site. The wedding industry routinely denies the violent conditions Black people faced under chattel slavery by promoting plantations as romantic places to marry." The Knot is reportedly focused on keeping "language that glorifies, celebrates, or romanticizes Southern plantation history" out of its content while Pinterest is removing photos from the site showing weddings on plantations. "Weddings should be a symbol of love and unity," said a rep for the platform. "Plantations represent none of those things."

Simon Cowell is launching a new talent show in spite of 'AGT' controversy

The controversy around Gabrielle Union's firing from "America's Got Talent," which reportedly came after she complained about what's been called a "toxic" work environment that's now the subject of multiple investigations, didn't stop "AGT" executive producer Simon Cowell from pressing on with the launch of another new talent show. According to Page Six, Simon and Pussycat Dolls alum Nicole Scherzinger have been auditioning candidates for "The X Factor: The Band," which airs on ITV in the U.K. beginning on Monday, Dec. 9. Meanwhile, Deadline reports the sit-down NBC held with Gabrielle last week centered around Simon's "acerbic behavior" and his "overlording." According to a Deadline source, "The ball is in NBC's court to see if they can get Cowell to agree to make some changes to the way things are done on the show."

Beanie Feldstein joins critics in asking where the women directors are in the 2020 Golden Globes nominations

After the 2020 Golden Globes nominees were announced on Monday, Dec. 9, the biggest gripe in the "snubs" category was arguably the complete shut-out of women for the Best Director prize. As critics, Time's Up and organizations like the Women's Film Directors have noted, women-directed performances got lots of nominations but, as the Women's Film Directors put it in a tweet, "somehow this never translates into nominations for women directors. The top contenders for Best Director, according to reviews, seemed to be Greta Gerwig, Lulu Wang, Lorene Scafaria and Marielle Heller for film and Ava DuVernay for TV, according to Variety. The outlet checked in with Globes-nominated actress Beanie Feldstein ("Booksmart"), who also failed to comprehend the lack of nominations for women directors. Calling Greta's "Little Women" some of "the most extraordinary filmmaking I've ever seen," Beanie told Variety: "I cried for a literal two hours after I saw it. This is truly a remarkable year for female directors, of course Olivia Wilde and Lulu [Wang] and Alma [Har'el], the list goes on and on. 'Hustlers,' 'A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,' there's so many beautiful, extraordinary films directed by women, so I wish there was room for them [at the Golden Globes] this year."

Meryl Streep breaks her own record to become the most nominated Golden Globes star in history (again)

"Big Little Lies" snagged three nominations for the 2020 Golden Globes, but Meryl Streep's nomination was the most historic. Her inclusion in the Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Limited-Series, or TV Movie category for her performance as Mary Louise Wright marks Meryl's 34th nomination from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association over the years, giving her more nominations than anyone in history, according to E! News. Of course, she already had more nominations than anyone in history as of the 2019 Golden Globes. This year, she broke the record she set herself. To take home her tenth statue, she'll have to beat some stiff competition: the other nominees in that category include her HBO costar Patricia Arquette ("The Act"), Helena Bonham Carter ("The Crown"), Emily Watson ("Chernobyl") and Toni Collette ("Unbelievable").

Ellen DeGeneres pranks Clint Eastwood just in time for the holidays

When Ellen DeGeneres' Warner Bros. studio lot neighbor, Clint Eastwood stopped by the Monday, Dec. 9, edition of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," he was greeted with a little holiday prank courtesy of Ellen and her crew. "You're a good neighbor," Ellen told Clint as he let a smile creep over his otherwise stony demeanor (via E! News). "You never complain, and so, we wanted to do something nice for you. It's the holidays and we wanted to decorate your bungalow for you because maybe you're too busy." She then flashed footage on the screen behind them that showed the entrance to Clint's building surrounded with two massive — like, almost treetop height — inflatable Christmas creatures. As the huge Rudolph swayed its giant head in the breeze alongside an equally enormous blow-up Frosty the Snowman, Clint finally chuckled. "You're welcome," Ellen said. "You know, this is very nice," Clint told the audience. "It's a lot better than some of the things she comes up with. One time, she called up and said, 'somebody made a pinata of her,' our hero here. They said, 'you're supposed to go out there,' and I said, 'Oh I'm going to go out there and just look at the pinata and maybe get a free candy or something.' But they said, 'No, you're going to take a baseball bat and you beat the hell out of it.' So there's all kinds of things. Being her neighbor requires a lot of versatility." Good to know!

Eddie Murphy shares an update on 'Coming To America' sequel

Eddie Murphy is beyond excited about his forthcoming sequel to the 1988 comedy classic, "Coming to America." "I'm just over the moon with how it's turned out," Eddie told Antonio Banderas in a recent chat as part of Variety's "Actors on Actors" series (via People). "I don't know what it is about that movie, but that's the one movie that I've done that, like, on Halloween people dress up like the characters, and people always say lines from that movie to me," he reminisced. "We figured out a way to connect it, and that's what we're doing now," he added. "Coming 2 America 2" features Eddie along with original cast members including Arsenio Hall and James Earl Jones, plus new additions Tracy Morgan, Leslie Jones and Wesley Snipes. It's expected to hit theaters next summer.
