Dwayne Johnson
As the grandson and son of professional wrestlers Peter "High Chief" Fanene Maivia and Rocky Johnson respectively, Dwayne Johnson was destined to spend time on the ropes. But it wasn't his plan A. He instead pursued pigskin dreams at the University of Miami but was sidelined by a back injury. Plan B, wrestling in the WWF, commenced in 1996. As the first third-generation performer in Federation history, he quickly rose in popularity, started a notorious feud with Steve Austin and changed his nickname to The Rock. The People's Champ had 17 championship reigns including being a 10-time world champion. He retired in 2004 when his film career was solidified. (He did return in 2011 to feud with John Cena and claim another belt.) He cameoed on Wyclef Jean's song "It Doesn't Matter," hosted "Saturday Night Live" in 2000, and had broken into film with a small part in 2001's "The Mummy Returns", which was spun-off into a prequel about his character "The Scorpion King." He was a hit with kids in ffilms like "The Game Plan" and "The Tooth Fairy" but brings muscle more often to action films like "The Fast and The Furious" franchise, "G.I. Joe," and "Pain & Gain." He's scheduled to play Hercules and star in "The Fall Guy" film adaptation. He created/hosted a reality show called "The Hero" and his 2000 autobiography debuted at No. 1 on the New York Time Bestseller List. He married his high school love Dany Garcia in 1997, but the couple, who had daughter Simone in 2001, divorced in 2007.
