It might be a tough holiday season for Selena Gomez and her mom, Mandy Teefey. On Tuesday, Dec. 19, TMZ reported Mandy was hospitalized due to her realization Selena and her on-again beau Justin Bieber were getting serious. Shortly after the news broke online, Cosmopolitan noticed Selena and her mom had unfollowed one another on Instagram. Whatever happened between them, however, was not entirely Justin-related. That's according to People, which quotes a source as saying there was more to the hospitalization than a disagreement about Selena's love life. "It's been a stressful time for Mandy and she made the decision herself to go to the hospital and make sure everything was OK. This wasn't just about Justin," a family insider said. A source close to Selena agreed, telling the magazine, "it's true her family doesn't approve of Justin, but this wasn't just over a fight about him."

It seems the singer, Gwyneth's ex-husband, was her main source of emotional support in her mourning period for her dad, making him a natural fit for the job. Much as we'd love to see a new twist in the land of post-concious uncoupling, E! News has already thrown cold water on the claim. Calling the report "definitely false" E! notes that Gwyneth "has made no public plans regarding her nuptials" and her friendship with Chris, who's rumored to be dating Dakota Johnson, isn't quite at the level where she'd invite him to handle such a key duty at her wedding.

Finally, guests showed off their Twister skills on a Twister mat adorned with the faces of cast members from "Real Housewives of New York City" ( "it's just light and easy and it's a good release from when you're having a crazy day," she said in 2015 of her "Real Housewives" obsession, "you're like, I thought my life was crazy, check this out!"). After all the McNuggets and profane cake slices had been served and Xtina's friends had presumably fallen, face-first, on Bethenny Frankel's grinning mug, the singer posed for a wrapup Instagram selfie. "Feeling pretty in bday pink," she captioned the photo, "Thankful for the love & joy my besties fill me with all year round!" Happy birthday, lady. Never change.

The actress and comic recently checked in with Us Weekly about her famous pal's relationship and though she was careful not to give too many details, she did say things are going well between Amy and the Martha's Vineyard-based chef-slash-farmer. "Uh, yes!" Bridget exclaimed when asked about Chris. "I won't say anything other than I'm happy that Amy's very happy." News of Amy and Chris' relationship first surfaced last month when the two were spotted enjoying a romantic dinner together. Amy split from her boyfriend of more than a year, Ben Hanisch, in May.

In less than a month, "America's Next Top Model" returns, complete with tears, model-fights and, according to a new teaser, "deeply-rooted psychological warfare." Helming the craziness is Tyra Banks, who took a break from hosting during the last cycle of the series while she adjusted to her new role as mom. The supermodel and her then-boyfriend Esla Asla welcomed a son, York, in January 2016 and as she told E! News in a recent interview, she's balancing her parenting duties with her career by keeping her nearly 2-year-old son in the loop during her day-today responsibilities. "I am a very hardworking momma and hopefully a good example to my son that you know momma works really, really hard and that's how we have these things and we can travel and get on airplane, airplane, airplane, to go and see the world," she said. "But at the same time with my hard work my son often comes with me," she noted, adding that he was there with her for the E! interview. "So I want him to see mommy's world and to understand what she does, so that when he's away from me he's like, 'Oh mommy's with camera or is mommy in business suit meeting today?'" she explained. "I want him to understand that and so I think he's learning, slowly." The new season of "America's Next Top Model" premieres Jan. 9.

Introducing Hello magazine's 2017 Woman of the Year! The tab honors Meghan Markle in its year-end issue. Praising the former "Suits" star for her ability to endear fans ranging from Joe Schmo to Queen Elizabeth, Hello points out that all eyes will be on the 36-year-old after she and Prince Harry say "I do" in May when she has the chance to "take her humanitarian work to a whole new level." Princess Diana biographer Andrew Morton, who's currently writing a book about Meghan, tells Hello: "Meghan is a flag bearer for a new generation of woman who can do it all. She is a great role model for aspirational women and she is going to make a huge impact on helping the royal family change in the way it is doing things." He also compares the soon-to-be royal to the mother of her fiance. "Meghan is just like Diana was in her thirties," he says. "She has presence, she's stylish and is happy to support positive causes — all with star appeal. I can't think of anyone who has come anywhere near her as the most talked about woman of the year."

Michelle Williams sees 'a happier ending' for new film thanks to Kevin Spacey, Christopher Plummer change

When Ridley Scott's "All the Money in the World" hits theaters on Friday, Dec. 22, Christopher Plummer — not Kevin Spacey, who was originally cast — will play J. Paul Getty, whose grandson was famously kidnapped at age 16. The last-minute change came after the "House of Cards" star became mired in allegations of sexual misconduct, leading the film's execs to make a move they hoped would prevent the film from being tainted by scandal. Michelle Williams, who plays the mother of the kidnapped teen, tells E! News she was "excited" to learn who would be starring in reshoots of Kevin's scenes. "I have been a fan of [Christopher's] obviously for ages so I was thrilled to work with him and thrilled he was going to contribute to a happier ending on our story," she says. Christopher has previously acknowledged he feels conflicted about the change in casting. "I think it's very sad what happened to [Kevin]," he told Vanity Fair last month. "Kevin is such a talented and a terrifically gifted actor, and it's so sad. It's such a shame." He went on to say he felt as if the change was less of a replacement than a fresh start. "I'm very saddened by what happened to Kevin, but what can I do? I've got a role," Christopher said. "I admire Ridley Scott and I'm thrilled to be making a movie for him. And so I thought, that was it. Ages ago I was in contention for [the role], way back. So I was familiar with it, and then Ridley came to me and I agreed. I wanted to work with him. He's very good. I loved the script. The script is wonderful." Kevin's brother has said he was not surprised to learn of the allegations of sexual assault lodged against his sibling, given what he believed to have been the actor's lifelong desire to hide his sexuality and the abusive upbringing the two endured.

Sylvester Stallone says rape accuser is lying

Sylvester Stallone is prepared to hit back at a claim he raped a woman in 1990 in office in the Santa Monica section of Los Angeles. The actor, via his lawyer Marty Singer, denies he even saw, let alone raped the woman in 1990, telling TMZ he knows her because of three days he spent with her while shooting a movie in 1987 in Israel. The alleged victim apparently went to an unnamed media outlet with the story but the outlet refused to publish it since she had not filed a police report and she was unable to cite evidence of the alleged rape. In November, she allegedly filed a police report, although TMZ has not been able to confirm the filing. According to Sly's lawyer, if the woman did file the report, Marty and Sylvester will "file a complaint requesting she be investigated for filing a false police report." (How's that for police report whiplash?) It's not the first such allegation that's hit Sly since the Harvey Weinstein scandal opened the floodgates for accusations of sexual misconduct in Hollywood. Last month, Sylvester's ex-wife, Brigitte Nielsen, defended the actor against a claim he raped a 16-year-old girl in Las Vegas in 1986. According to Brigitte, she and her then-husband were "inseparable" at the time of the alleged incident, which she said would have been impossible.

Sarah Hyland calls out CVS for prescription mixup

Sarah Hyland took her local pharmacy to task this week when the store allegedly failed to fill a prescription she needed as part of her post-kidney transplant care. ""Hey @cvspharmacy when you tell a kidney transplant recipient that her medication will be ready before you close and that you will notify her when it's ready to be picked up. F—— DO IT BEFORE YOU CLOSE. PEOPLE LIKE ME CANT AFFORD TO GO WITHOUT MEDICATION. 🖕🏼," she tweeted. At least one follower suggested the actress "check to see what time they close like everyone else does," a tweet Sarah slammed by saying they were supposed to have been open until 10 p.m. but they closed an hour earlier. On Wednesday, Dec. 20, a spokesperson for CVS told Us Weekly the store was in touch with Sarah. The spokesperson also indicated that the "Modern Family" star had looked at a website that was not maintained by CVS for the hours. "We responded to Sarah's tweets yesterday to express our concern and to learn more about her experience. A member of our pharmacy management team in California also contacted her directly last evening to apologize, address and resolve her complaints," CVS said in a statement. "We were also able to ascertain that one of the issues was the result of her referring to a third party website's listing of the store's hours, and not our own website that has the correct hours of operation for the pharmacy. We are addressing the service issues with pharmacy staff, and following up with third party sites that post store hours information to make sure their listings for CVS are accurate."

Sarah Silverman on how she thinks the right 'perverted' the idea of patriotism

On her show, "I Love You America," Sarah Silverman looks to connect with people who don't share her opinions with regard to politics and social issues, among other things. On the show, she's said there are "two kinds of patriotism." Vice sat down with the Hulu star to find out what exactly she meant by that. "The right has perverted the meaning of being liberal, or being feminist," Sarah explained. "Even 'social justice warrior' is an insult. We pervert language so much. Patriotism has always been a bit owned by the right. The last delusion on all of our parts is that there are two parties, and they're made up of two very different kinds of people. I have to think that oligarchs and billionaire wealth addicts aside, for the most part, people are more alike than we think. We're just getting our news from outlets that are telling us different types of stories." Patriotism, too, has "been perverted," according to the comic. "We're not on the same page of what it means," she said. Sarah went on to associate Donald Trump, whose rhetoric has been categorized by a desire to put, as he often says, "America first." "To me, being patriotic is loving your country — being a citizen, having a voice, being e pluribus unum. How perverted it is to go from 'We are one' to 'We are number one,' which is such a childish idea,'" she continued. "There's a difference between childlike and childish. The president is childish. He was stunted around 8 years old — maybe something traumatic happened — but he stopped growing emotionally. And yet, he got all the way to the presidency. There are a lot of pathologies that are not healthy but can bring great success, if that's how you measure success. The deepest people look at the world with wide-open eyes — which is childlike, not childish."
