Katy Perry's nemesis-turned-pal Taylor Swift praises her new music video
Taylor Swift is all about her former rival Katy Perry's new music video for "Not the End of the World," as taylor made clear on Twitter on Tuesday, Dec. 22. Posting a GIF of Zooey Deschanel pumping her fists, Taylor tweeted, in all caps, "THIS IS GENIUS." She was referring to Katy's decision to cast Zooey Deschanel as the star of the video, which turns on the idea that aliens attempting to save Katy from earth in 2020 ended up abducting lookalike "New Girl" star Zooey instead. Fans, meanwhile, just seemed happy to see Katy and Taylor continue building their friendship after a years-long feud that the pop stars have since blamed largely on the media's penchant for pitting women in music against one another. "QUEENS SUPPORTING QUEENS," one pleased fan wrote in the comments. "Kaylor isn't just a collab, it's a cultural reset, it's the oxygen you breathe, it's a lifestyle, a reason to breathe, an escape from this cruel world, it's art, the first gift you open on christmas, a hug from a loved one, everything you've ever wanted," wrote another. Taylor and Katy began mending their relationship after Katy sent Taylor a physical olive branch in 2018. As they've both recounted in interviews, they started talking in 2019 and Katy eventually made an appearance in Taylor's "You Need to Calm Down" video, with Katy dressed up as a burger and Taylor dressed up as fries.

Hollywood's showing its collective support for John Mulaney following Monday's news the comic is seeking treatment for cocaine and alcohol addiction. "Sending SO MUCH love and support to John Mulaney. You got this," tweeted Olivia Munn. Patton Oswalt chimed in as well, posting a long line of heart Emojis and tagging John, 38. Other well wishers included "The Simpsons" writer and producer Tim Long, who praised John's character and tweeted, "I hope he & everyone who's struggling these days get the help they need," and "Mom" star Kristen Johnston, who posted, "Never, ever be ashamed of being brave enough to ask for help." Page Six was first to report John checked himself into a rehab facility in Pennsylvania for a 60-day program after suffering a relapse during the coronavirus pandemic. The comic first got sober at 23, he's said in past interviews. A source told Page Six John's on board with his recovery."

Billie Eilish has a word of warning for fans who don't like her green hair: Knock off the teasing if you want to hear any new music from the singer. In an Instagram Story post this week, Billie, fresh off her 19th birthday, looks into the camera in a closeup that shows off her lime green and black coif tweaked with a filter to give her pointy devil horns. "Stop making fun of me! Oh my God," she says, playfully. "I'm f—— making you an album! I will not put it out if you keep making fun of my hair. Shut up!" The post comes after Billie began responding directly to fans who were clamoring for a change from the neon, according to BuzzFeed News. "This is the longest i've had the same hair color since i was 13 & that's on mental stability and growth leave me alone," she told one commenter. Replying to another green hair hater, she clarified: "it's called not being depressed anymore pls just be happy for me." Billie has plenty to do besides worry about the color of her hair anyway, which she said in her Story post she plans to change after the release of her Apple TV+ documentary, "The World's A Little Blurry," due out Feb. 26. When she does find a new hue, she told fans on her Story, "it will be the end of an era."

Diddy gifts his mom a Bentley and $1M for her 80th birthday
It was a very HBD indeed for Diddy's mom, Janice Combs, who celebrated her 80th on Monday with a bash thrown by her son at a mansion in Los Angeles. The party wasn't all Diddy had in store, gift-wise, for his mom, though. Video published by TMZ shows the Bad Boy records exec presenting his mother with a check for $1 million — and a brand new Bentley. "I only exist because of this beautiful, hardworking, loving, hilarious, a—whooping, always telling me the truth, genuine, smart, fly absolutely amazing Black Goddess Queen!!" Diddy later wrote on Instagram, showing off a photo of Janice. "Happy 80th Birthday to the best mother in the world! Love you forever and ever! ❤️ and this is actually her at 80 … no filter … no edit 🖤!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY #MAMACOMBS ❤️." Among the famous family friends who liked and commented on the post was Lizzo, who just shared a video over the weekend from the moment she surprised her mom with a new Audi.
Netflix scrubs Shia LaBeouf's name from 'Pieces of a Woman' synopsis, awards page
Netflix is no longer featuring Shia LaBeouf's name in publicity materials for his new film, "Pieces of a Woman," presumably because of recent abuse allegations made by the actor's ex, FKA Twigs. IndieWire noticed over the weekend that Shia's name had been removed from the streaming platform's "For Your Consideration" page, which lists possible candidates for recognition during the upcoming awards season. Shia previously appeared as a contender for Best Supporting Actor honors, according to IndieWire. His name no longer appears in the synopsis for "Pieces of a Woman," either. In a revealing interview with the New York Times earlier this month, Twigs detailed multiple instances in which Shia allegedly abused her sexually, physically and emotionally. Other women have come forward with similar allegations as well, including Sia. Twigs has also filed a lawsuit against the star. In a statement to the Times, Shia said, "many of these allegations are not true," referring to claims made by Twigs and another ex, Karolyn Pho. He added that he "will forever be sorry" for having hurt anyone during his battle with "PTSD and alcoholism."
Will Leighton Meester watch the 'Gossip Girl' reboot?
HBO Max has yet to announce a premiere date, but production began last month on the rebooted "Gossip Girl," due out sometime in 2021. And while Leighton Meester's unlikely to watch every scene, her husband Adam Brody thinks they will check it out. "I highly doubt we'll watch it front to back," Adam told WSJ Magazine's latest edition of "My Monday Morning" this week. "I don't think we're the audience, but I'm sure we'll dip our toes in," he added. The new show features a new crop of wealthy Upper East Siders making their way through private school in New York City. Original cast member Kristen Bell is slated to return as the narrator, but as of April 2019, it didn't sound like Leighton, who starred as Blair Waldorf, will be involved. "No one's ever asked me," she told E! at the time when asked if she might make a cameo (per Elle). "No one's ever talked to me about it except for in interviews, and I always say the same: 'I never say never.' So, I don't know." Speaking to Variety in 2017, Leighton's costar Blake Lively, who played Blair's bestie, Serena van der Woodsen, said something similar. "Would I do seven years of the show? No, because it's hard work and I've got my babies, and I don't want to be away from them that much," she explained. "But I've just learned in life you never say never. I'm looking to do something that I haven't done yet, not something that I did. But would I do that? Who knows — if it was good, if it made sense. We had so much fun shooting and living and working in New York City." Blake shares three daughters with husband Ryan Reynolds, while Leighton and Adam recently welcomed a baby boy, five years after the birth of their daughter.
Willow Smith gets candid about her severe anxiety on 'Red Table Talk'
In this week's edition of "Red Table Talk," Jada Pinkett Smith and her mom, Adrienne Banfield-Norris, talk to Jada's daughter, Willow Smith, about the anxiety she struggles with. "Four days ago, I was having extreme anxiety. I couldn't talk, I had to just cocoon and like be with myself for a moment," Willow, 20, shares at one point in the Facebook Watch show (via ET). Speaking to her mom, Willow explains that her solo "cocooning" ultimately works better than the alternative, telling her the experience "would have been so much more intense" had she "been looking to" Jada for help rather than pressing through it on her own. Later in the episode, Willow empathizes with others who've battled their demons alone. "There's shame, there's guilt, there's sadness and confusion," the singer says, explaining why anxiety and depression can fuel loneliness. "And then you don't even want to talk about it because you're like, 'I feel crazy, and I don't want them to think I'm crazy so I'm just not gonna say anything.'"
Kristen Wiig on the challenges of being a mom to twins during the pandemic
For new mom Kristen Wiig, pandemic parenting has been a mixed blessing. Kristen, 47, and her fiance Avi Rothman, 48, welcomed twins via surrogate in January. Just a few months later, as the COVID-19 crisis sparked lockdowns and put the entertainment industry on hold, Kristen found the extra time she had with her little ones to be a major silver lining. Still, she has concerns about their lack of social interaction outside the immediate family. "My babies aren't even walking yet," the "Wonder Woman 1984" star tells People. "I want to be home with them, so that has been a positive for me, of course. But also they don't get to see anybody. I have really close friends that haven't seen my kids in a long time." Kristen goes on to explain that she hasn't seen her own parents "in a really long time," though they've been doing what they can to stay in touch virtually, "FaceTiming with the babies [and Kristen's parents] every day." She adds: "They're living in such a bubble, and that I can't have them interact and be social has been a little bit challenging."

Reunited and it feels so good! After spending most of the year apart because of the pandemic, Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid recently popped up on social media, side-by-side. In a pinned tweet from Ráth Mór Creggan, a charity based in Northern Ireland, the couple of seven years stand close together as they share their gratitude to those who've continued supporting the organization's community services and programs. "We just want to thank all the people at Ráth Mór in Creggan for all the incredible work you've done this year," Courteney says. "Well done, guys. Thank you so much for all the work. It's so appreciated," Johnny adds. "I know it's been a really tough year, but here's to a great 2021." In July, Courtney wished Johnny a happy birthday on Instagram, where she also noted it had been 133 days since she saw her beau in person. Earlier this year on "Ellen," Courteney explained that the Snow Patrol frontman "was supposed to go to Switzerland to write," but he stopped in England on the way there. That's when lockdowns began. "I have not seen him in so long," she said at the time. "You don't realize — I mean, we spend a lot of time on FaceTime — now it's like, 'Oh my god, I just miss his physical touch.' It's been hard. This is the longest time."

And as Katy revealed to Zooey in an Instagram Live this week, there was a time when Katy used their resemblance to her advantage. The two were promoting Katy's new video for "Not the End of the World," which features Zooey, 40, getting abducted by aliens that believe she's Katy, 36. "I have to admit something, Zooey," Katy told the She & Him singer (via People). "When I came to L.A., I was pretty much a nobody, and you were just getting so huge at that time — it was like Zooey Deschanel ran the world. … In that moment, I was so complimented to look like you," Katy began. "But I have to admit something to you on a Live: That when I first got to L.A., I went to the club a lot," she said. "And I wanted to get into the club and I had no money, I had no clout, I had nothing, and sometimes I would pose as you to get into the club." It turned out this was not news to Zooey, who laughed as she recalled people claiming to have seen her at various hotspots. "But I'm such a Goody Two-shoes and people kept going, 'I saw you out! I made eye contact with you!' And I was like, 'No!' And then everybody kept telling me about this girl Katy, Katy, who looks just like you,' and I'm like, 'Who is this Katy?'" Zooey continued. Finally, Zooey and Katy met, which allayed one of Zooey's fears about the situation. "You never know when people say you look like somebody what they're gonna look like," Zooey explained. "And I was like, 'Oh my gosh, she's gorgeous. Thank you.'" Katy then admitted she "was a wild child" from the time she moved to Los Angeles at 17 until she hit it big with "I Kissed a Girl" around age 23. "I was turned up to 11 at the club," Katy said. "I'm sorry if I misrepresented you; I wanted to say that now." Zooey laughed again, reassuring Katy that the whole thing was "a compliment." "Not the End of the World" is out now.
