Justin Bieber proposes to Hailey Baldwin

Justin Bieber is officially off the market. The pop singer, 24, proposed to his girlfriend of barely a month, model Hailey Baldwin, 21, on July 7 while vacationing in the Bahamas. "My heart is COMPLETELY and FULLY YOURS and I will ALWAYS put you first! You are the love of my life Hailey Baldwin and I wouldn't want to spend it with anybody else," Justin wrote days later on Instagram, confirming the news.

Dr. Luke claims Kesha wanted to keep Katy Perry rape denial under wraps

Dr. Luke is claiming that pop singer Kesha threatened him with legal sanctions after the producer publicly revealed in June that frequent collaborator Katy Perry had denied Kesha's claims — made in a text to Lady Gaga — that he raped the "California Gurls" singer, according to new legal docs that came to light on July 11. The producer, who's suing Kesha for $50 million in a defamation suit as their legal war approaches the four-year mark, alleges that Kesha and her lawyers wanted the revelation kept secret.

Dr. Conrad Murray claims that Michael Jackson was "chemically castrated" by late father Joe

Disgraced doctor Conrad Murray claimed that Michael Jackson was "chemically castrated" by his late father, Joe Jackson, according to reports published on July 11. "The cruelty expressed by Michael that he experienced at the hand of his father…" Murray said following the patriarch's June 27 death, "The fact that he was chemically castrated to maintain his high-pitched voice is beyond words."

John Mellencamp to receive Woody Guthrie Prize

John Mellencamp will be awarded the Woody Guthrie Prize during a ceremony on Aug. 30, according to an announcement released by The Woody Guthrie Center on July 11. The musician, the Tulsa, Oklahoma-based center explained, "has used his artistic gifts to spread a positive message of hope, equality and freedom." He's the fifth-ever recipient of the prize, which is awarded to an artist who exemplifies Guthrie's spirit and life work by supporting the less fortunate and promoting social change.

Second man arrested in fatal shooting of rapper XXXtentacion

A second suspect has been arrested in the shooting death of rapper XXXtentacion, police announced on July 11. Michael Boatwright, 22, is facing first-degree murder charges for his alleged involvement in the brutal June 18 murder outside a Florida motorcycle shop.

Russell Simmons accused of rape by W.W. Norton's granddaughter

Music mogul Russell Simmons is facing another rape allegation. On July 10, the granddaughter of book publisher W.W. Norton spoke out about the alleged attack. Alexia Norton Jones claims the co-founder of Def Jam Recordings forced himself on her in November 1990. "It was such a fast attack," she told Variety. "He pulled my dress up. I must have said no seven to 10 times."

Drake sets record with new album "Scorpion"

Drake's new "Scorpion" double album became his eighth consecutive effort to hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. The Canadian rapper also set a new record as it had the biggest streaming week ever for an album, with 745.92 million on-demand audio streams. And with 732,000 equivalent album units sold, "Scorpion" can also claim the biggest week for any album released in 2018 so far.

Bruno Mars forced to temporarily stop show after stage fire

Bruno Mars was forced to stop his concert in Glasgow, Scotland, on July 10 after a fire broke out on stage. The singer and his band evacuated when a faulty firework caused a small blaze.
