Bruce Springsteen, Jon Bon Jovi, Halsey and more unite for New Jersey pandemic benefit concert
New Jersey's biggest names came together to help raise money to aid in the COVID-19 crisis on April 22. Stars like Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, Halsey, Sza, Bon Jovi, Chelsea Handler and more took the stage from home during "Jersey 4 Jersey" to benefit the New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund. "We're here tonight dedicated to our health care workers and all of those who lost loved ones who are suffering and dying from this terrible disease right here, right now, in our beloved state," Bruce said. The New Jersey Pandemic Relief Fund, which was founded by first lady Tammy Murphy, seeks to help state organizations get resources to vulnerable communities.

Whitney Houston biopic in the works from Clive Davis and the Houston estate
Are you ready for another Whitney Houston biopic?! It was announced on April 22 that famed music mogul Clive Davis, who discovered Whitney in 1983 and guided her career, is working with the late singer's estate on the biopic "I Wanna Dance With Somebody." Anthony McCarten, who wrote the Queen biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody," will pen the screenplay, while Stella Meghie, who was behind the Issa Rae romance "The Photograph," will direct. Whitney's sister-in-law and former manager, Pat Houston — who oversees the estate — will produce. Thanks to the cooperation of Whitney's estate, the movie will be able to use the icon's entire music catalog.

Post Malone plans Nirvana tribute for Friday livestream performance
Smells like… Post Malone? It was announced on April 22 that Post Malone would be hosting a live concert on April 24 in which he'll perform a selection of Nirvana classics. The music star has long been a fan of the iconic Seattle band and has even performed some of their songs at his concerts. The show will be a fundraiser for the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization. A "donate" button will appear on the screen as the performance airs live. An announcement said Google will match viewer donations "at a 2:1 rate" up to $5 million.

On April 21 — four years after his death — CBS aired its pre-taped Prince special, "Let's Go Crazy: The Grammy Salute to Prince." The star-packed show featured nearly two dozen performances from Prince collaborators and superfans including his band The Revolution, The Time, Mavis Staples, Sheila E., Beck, Earth, Wind & Fire, John Legend and more. John sang a sexy version of "Nothing Compares 2 U" (Prince wrote it) while ballerina Misty Copeland danced to a selection of Prince songs. Chris Martin and the Foo Fighters also sang classic Prince songs with their own sonic twists. Legends never die.
Lady Gaga reveals "Chromatica" album tracklist: Ariana Grande and Elton John are on delayed album
As major musical artists are being forced to push their new releases back amid the global health crisis, Lady Gaga is still trying to give her fans some information on what to expect when her album "Chromatica" eventually drops. On April 22, it was confirmed that it will feature duets with big names such as Elton John, Ariana Grande and Blackpink. Ariana confirmed her collaboration with Gaga, "Rain On Me," on social media. Her tweet had water emojis, a heart and the hashtags #Chromatica and #LG6 (to mark Gaga's sixth studio album). Gaga has not announced a new release date for "Chromatica," which was originally supposed to be out on April 10.
Dixie Chicks postpone imminent "Gaslighter" album release
Say it ain't so! Fans have been waiting 14 years for a new Dixie Chicks album, and now they'll have to keep waiting. On April 22, the band released a statement saying their "highly anticipated fifth studio album, 'Gaslighter,' originally scheduled to drop on May 1, 2020, via Columbia Records, has been postponed. Additional details are forthcoming. Fans should continue to check @DixieChicks social media for additional updates and announcements." The cancellation isn't exactly a shock as several A-list music acts including Sam Smith, Lady Gaga and Luke Bryan have pushed their new releases back in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Travis Scott partners with "Fortnite" for new in-game concert "Astronomical"
Travis Scott is keeping his fans entertained even while we are all dealing with lockdowns. On April 20, Epic Games announced that the rapper will be the newest addition to the Icon Series for the incredibly popular game "Fortnite." Fans will be able to access his outfits, emotes and more, plus Travis will deliver a musical performance series titled "Astronomical," which will see him headlining an in-game concert from April 23-25 and debuting new music. This comes as artists are trying to find new ways to connect with fans while concerts are banned across the world.
Critics are already declaring Fiona Apple's "Fetch the Bolt Cutters" the album of the year
Talk about a welcome back! On April 17, indie music star Fiona Apple released her highly anticipated comeback album, "Fetch the Bolt Cutters," and critics are already saying it's the album of the year. This is the first album the reclusive singer-songwriter — who's known for being anti-commercial in terms of her music — has released since 2012. Glowing reviews have included comments calling the project "raw, introspective and everything we need out of a Fiona Apple album" and "a blistering, emotional triumph." Fans have noted that the infamously private and introspective singer released the album during coronavirus lockdown, which seems quite on-brand. Some critics, however, did note the the album isn't always easy to listen to as Fiona addresses heavy issues like sexual assault, bullying, internalized misogyny and depression. Welcome back, Fiona!
