Jamie Foxx defends Jimmy Fallon amid "Saturday Night Live" blackface backlash
Jimmy Fallon made headlines on May 26 when an old "Saturday Night Live" sketch from the year 2000 — in which he donned blackface while impersonating Chris Rock — resurfaced on Twitter. As outrage grew online, E! News took to Instagram to address the backlash and the "Tonight Show" host's apology for his "unquestionably offensive decision" to don blackface. That's when Jamie Foxx came to Jimmy's defense, writing in the comments section on E!'s post, "He was doing an impression of Chris Rock. It wasn't black face. … I know it's a tough time right now. But this one is a stretch. On a show called 'In Living Color,' we played every race. Let this one go. We got bigger fish to fry … #changecourse."

"Seinfeld" actor Richard Herd — who memorably portrayed Mr. Wilhelm, George Costanza's demanding boss at the Yankees organization — died of complications from cancer at his home in Los Angeles on May 26. He was 87.

Mary-Kate Olsen swiftly files for divorce from Olivier Sarkozy amid court reopening
Mary-Kate Olsen officially filed to divorce her husband of four years, Olivier Sarkozy, on May 25 — the day New York City courts reopened to electronic filings. The coronavirus pandemic thwarted her previous attempts to begin the process of legally ending her marriage: The former "Full House" actress first signed a divorce petition on April 17 but was told that New York courts were, at the time, only handling emergency divorce petitions. In mid-May, she sought an emergency court order to end her marriage, arguing that the French financier put her personal property at risk by forcing her to vacate their NYC apartment amid stay-at-home orders. (She's alleged that he ended their lease without her knowledge.) But on May 14, a Manhattan Supreme Court Justice ruled that her situation did not constitute an emergency.

Chris Cuomo says he's still "not 100 percent" recovered after battle with COVID-19
On the May 26 episode of "Cuomo Prime Time," Chris Cuomo said that although he's no longer testing positive for COVID-19, he's yet to fully recover from his battle with the highly contagious disease. "I'm not back to where I was before I had the virus, but I can work. I can hang out. I can engage with my family," he said, adding that he's "not 100%" yet and that there's "funky stuff" in his bloodwork "that doctors say is what they see in people who have had COVID." Continued the CNN star, "It freaks me out a little bit."
Lori Loughlin is "longing" to "move on" from college scandal "nightmare"
Us Weekly reported on May 27 that, according to a source, Lori Loughlin, husband Mossimo Giannulli and their two daughters — Bella and Olivia Jade — are "all longing for the day when they can move on" from the "Operation varsity Blues" college admissions scandal "and put this nightmare officially behind them." On May 21, the actress and the fashion designer announced that they'd decided to plead guilty to wire and mail fraud charges as part of a plea deal that will see them both spending time behind bars, paying fines and conducting community service. "It's scary, but Lori just wants to move forward," said the source. According to a second insider, the former "Full House" star is "preparing to be interviewed by the Bureau of Prisons for the pre-sentencing report that will be given to the judge to be used as guidance for formal sentencing." The second source added that Lori and Mossimo, who are set to be officially sentenced in August, are hoping to serve their respective sentences at different times. "Even though their daughters are adults, Lori wants one parent to be free to provide emotional support to the girls," explained the insider. "Lori's concern all along has been Isabella and Olivia Jade."
"Duck Dynasty" patriarch Phil Robertson reveals he has an adult daughter from an affair
On May 28, "Duck Dynasty" patriarch Phil Robertson dropped a bombshell, revealing on his "Unashamed" podcast with sons Al, Jase, Jep and Willie Robertson that he'd recently learned he has a 45-year-old daughter, Phyliss, who was conceived when he had an affair in the '70s while married to wife Kay. Al said he and Jase got a letter from Phyliss about three months ago in which she explained "that by a DNA search, she thinks that Dad might be her dad." Al initially dismissed it since the woman was born after Phil became a Christian, but after a family member spoke to Phyllis and got more details, the brothers took it to Phil and he underwent a DNA test — which came back as a "99.99 percent match," Al said. Phil invited his daughter to Louisiana to meet the family and they plan to have her as a guest on the podcast in the future. "We know that in all things — in all things, even sin — God works for the good of those who love him who have been called according to his purpose," Phil said, quoting a Bible verse.
Why John Krasinski sold "Some Good News" — "It wouldn't be sustainable with my prior commitments"
On the May 26 episode of Rainn Wilson's Instagram Live series "Hey There, Human," John Krasinski opened up about his controversial decision to sell his "Some Good News" YouTube series to ViacomCBS following a massive bidding war: "I was only planning on doing eight [episodes] during quarantine because I have these other things that I'm going to be having to do very soon, like 'Jack Ryan' and all this other stuff," he said, adding that "writing, directing and producing" the web series with a few friends "was so much" effort. "I knew [continuing] wouldn't be sustainable with my prior commitments," he continued. "I would love to keep doing the show from my office forever. It just wasn't sustainable." According to The Hollywood Report, John will serve as an executive producer on the new iteration of the show and appear on camera in a recurring role, though someone else will take over full-time hosting duties. "We have a lot of really fun stuff planned, and I can't wait to dig in. I'm going to be a part of it whenever I can, and I'm going to host a couple [episodes] and bring on a different community of people. But we're really, really excited about it," he told his former "The Office" co-star.
Not really a billionaire
Back in March 2019, Forbes declared that reality star and Kylie Cosmetics makeup mogul Kylie Jenner was the world's youngest self-made billionaire. But on May 29, the magazine published a story claiming that it just wasn't true and that the Kardashian-Jenner machine had manipulated, fabricated and told white lies about financial information. Forbes said it learned this after Kylie sold 51% of her Kylie Cosmetics to beauty company Coty in a deal valued at $1.2 billion in January, which led it to examine filings released by Coty, which is publicly traded. According to the magazine, "Kylie's business is significantly smaller, and less profitable, than the family has spent years leading the cosmetics industry and media outlets, including Forbes, to believe." Forbes added, "Based on this new information — plus the impact of COVID-19 on beauty stocks and consumer spending — Forbes now thinks that Kylie Jenner, even after pocketing an estimated $340 million after taxes from the sale, is not a billionaire." Kylie responded to the allegations on Twitter, writing, "What am i even waking up to. i thought this was a reputable site.. all i see are a number of inaccurate statements and unproven assumptions lol. i've never asked for any title or tried to lie my way there EVER. period." Her lawyers also called Forbes' allegations lies and encouraged the outlet to retract their statements.

Ruby Rose stunned fans when she announced on May 19 that she'd "made the very difficult decision" to walk away from The CW's "Batwoman," which the network renewed for a second season back in January. On May 27, she took to Instagram to cryptically allude to what prompted her surprise departure following the conclusion of the first season: "Thank you everyone for coming on this journey," she captioned a video of highlights from her time on the superhero show. "Thank you to the cast, crew, producers and studio. It wasn't an easy decision but those who know, know. I didn't want to not acknowledge everyone involved and how big this was for TV and for our community. I have stayed silent because that's my choice for now but know I adore you all. I'm sure next season will be amazing also." She then added that she was hanging up her "cowl and cape," leaving fans to speculate what exactly she was holding back from saying.
