'My So-Called Life' cast: Where are they now?

In just one season, "My So-Called Life" made more of an impression on viewers than many long-running series. Not only did it launch the careers of stars Claire Danes and Jared Leto — it still has a cult following more than two decades later. And while we'll never find out if Brian got his chance with Angela, we do know what happened to the stars of this acclaimed '90s series. In celebration of the 25th anniversary of the "My So-Called Life" premiere on Aug. 25, 2019, let's take a look at how Jared Leto, Claire Danes and the rest of the cast have fared. And no, you won't find the oft mentioned, never seen Tino anywhere here…

Claire Danes starred as pensive, painfully insecure angst queen Angela Chase on "My So-Called Life." She was nominated for an Emmy and won a Golden Globe for her performance. Even so, the then-15-year-old star didn't want to return to the show for a second season, which partially fueled the decision to cancel it. Boo!

Claire Danes' love life has been just as melodramatic as Angela's. In 2003, she dumped her boyfriend of six years, Ben Lee, to date her "Stage Beauty" co-star Billy Crudup, who was about to have a baby with girlfriend Mary-Louise Parker at the time. Three years later, she left Billy for her "Evening" co-star Hugh Dancy. Claire and Hugh quietly married in the summer of 2009 and welcomed son Cyrus in December 2012. They had a second son in August 2018. Post-"My So-Called Life," Claire's career skyrocketed. Most notably, she starred opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in "Romeo + Juliet." In 1998, she took a break to go to Yale. Her hiatus didn't last long though: After studying psychology for two years, she dropped out of college to focus on acting. She's since collected three Emmys — one for playing the title character in the 2010 HBO biopic "Temple Grandin" and two for playing Carrie Mathison on Showtime's "Homeland," for which she's also won two Golden Globes. The final season of "Homeland" is set to air in 2020.

Jared Leto played Jordan Catalano, Angela's oblivious on-and-off boyfriend, on "My So-Called Life."

Jared Leto wasn't just a hit with teen fans. He made the rounds with many of Hollywood's hottest leading ladies including Scarlett Johansson, Ashley Olsen and Cameron Diaz, to whom he was engaged for three years. Renowned for making drastic transformations for his acting roles, Jared lost 28 pounds to play a heroin addict in "Requiem for a Dream" and gained 67 pounds to play Mark David Chapman in "Chapter 27." His portrayal of an HIV-positive transgender woman in 2013's "Dallas Buyers Club" earned him an Academy Award and a Golden Globe. He most recently starred in 2018's "The Outsider." When he's not acting, the vegan star is performing with his alternative rock band, Thirty Seconds to Mars. The group's most recent album, "America," was released in April 2018.

A.J. Langer starred as Rayanne Graff, Angela's rebellious best friend, on "My So-Called Life."

A.J. Langer is now Allison Joy, Countess of Devon. In 2004, the actress married British attorney Charles Courtenay, aka Lord Courtenay at the time, as he was the son of the Earl of Devon. The couple — seen here the same year they wed (see them in 2017 on People.com) — met at a bar in Las Vegas and went on to have two children. Following the death of his father, Charles assumed the title Earl of Devon, making A.J. his countess (their daughter is formally known as Lady Joscelyn and their son, Jack, as Lord Courtenay). They moved from the States to Charles's ancestral home, Powderham Castle, in England. Lady Devon suffers from fibromyalgia and is active in raising awareness about the disorder. Although A.J. went on to star on three more series after "My So-Called Life" including "It's Like, You Know…" with Jennifer Grey, none of her shows lasted more than two seasons. In 2005, she took a six-year hiatus from acting, returning to do a stint on "Private Practice" in 2011. However, she hasn't been seen on screen since. She currently oversees the castle's many businesses.

Wilson Cruz starred as Enrique "Rickie" Vasquez, Rayanne's best friend who is gay, on "My So-Called Life." Rickie was the first openly gay teen on primetime TV. Art imitated life for Wilson: The storyline in which Rickie is kicked out of his house after coming out was based on the actor's real-life experience.

Wilson Cruz ended up much like Rickie might have. He's active in advocating for LGBTQ youth. In 2012, he joined the GLAAD staff as a strategic giving officer. (He's also on the organization's board of directors and has been honored by the organization twice.) On the acting front, Wilson has continued to perform through the years, including a stint on "Party of Five" and a role in "He's Just Not That Into You." In 1998, he made his Broadway debut as Angel in "Rent." As of 2019, he's been playing Dr. Hugh Culber on CBS's "Star Trek: Discovery."

Devon Odessa played Sharon Cherski, Angela's ex-best friend, on "My So-Called Life."

Devon Odessa got married in May 2008 to Jeff Baldinger, who works in investor relations for Disney. Claire Danes was in her bridal party, as were actresses Alanna Ubach, Nicholle Tom, Kathleen Coughlin and Staci Keanan; "My So-Called Life" creator Winnie Holzman officiated at the wedding. Devon has continued to act, albeit not in very high-profile roles. She guest starred on "Pacific Blue" and "Private Practice" and appeared in the horror movie "Campfire Tales" and the 2018 short film "Blink." She also starred in Buffalo Tom's "Wiser" music video, which is something that would have impressed the Liberty High gang. She currently works as an acting coach in Venice, California.

Devon Gummersall starred as Brian Krakow, Angela's nerdy neighbor with a hopeless crush on her, on "My So-Called Life." Fun fact: Devon admitted that he had a real-life crush on Claire Danes at the time! "I was smitten with Claire. She knew it," he told Entertainment Weekly in 2004. "But there was no, like, problems or anything. It was cool. We were just real good friends."

Devon Gummersall turned into quite a hottie! He was briefly married to actress Majandra Delfino, with whom he co-starred on "Roswell." Although Devon has kept up with acting, most recently appearing on the TNT series "The Last Ship," he also transitioned into directing, writing and producing. He penned episodes of the MySpace/NBC series "Quarterlife" and his feature directorial debut, "Low Fidelity," was released in 2013. In 2018, he directed two episodes of the hit CMT series "Nashville."

Lisa Wilhoit starred as Danielle Chase, Angela's little sister, on "My So-Called Life."

Lisa Wilhoit has pretty much stuck to the small screen: She played Tom Arnold's daughter on the short-lived sitcom "The Tom Show" and guest starred on shows like "7th Heaven" and "Greek." And even if you haven't seen Lisa's face on screen, you've probably heard her voice: She played Connie D'Amico on "Family Guy" from 2000 to 2017.

Tom Irwin starred as Angela's laid-back dad, Graham Chase, on "My So-Called Life."

Tom Irwin most recently starred in the 2018 flick "On the Basis of Sex." His credit list also includes The WB's "Related" (another one-season series), a recurring role on "Saving Grace," "Marley & Me" and "Devious Maids." He also appeared in the West End production of "Up for Grabs" with Madonna and in a number of off-Broadway productions. When he's not on screen, Tom teaches acting at the Steppenwolf Theater West School of Drama in Los Angeles.

Bess Armstrong played Patty Chase, Angela's high-strung mom, on "My So-Called Life."

Bess Armstrong has been married to producer John Fielder since 1985. Together, they have two sons. Since "My So-Called Life," she's popped up on shows like "Frasier," "House of Lies," "One Tree Hill," "Switched at Birth" and "Mad Men." She also appeared in movies like "Pecker" and "That Darn Cat." She most recently wrapped up a recurring role on CBS's "S.W.A.T."
