Jennifer Lawrence and her ex Darren Aronofsky are thinking about giving it another go.
On Dec. 20, the two were spotted together in New York City, even walking into a residence together. Now, a source tells E! News that the actress and director are just taking it day by day.
"They are not officially back together but are spending time together again," a source told E! "They never stopped speaking after they broke up. They care about each other. They are just seeing what happens."
Jen and Darren began dating in fall 2016, but split in October after a year together. At the time, a source said that the two planned to remain friends.
In November, a month after the split, Jen said that the negative reviews about "Mother!" caused issues in the relationship (she was the star of the film that he directed.)
During an interview with Adam Sandler for Variety's Actors on Actors series, she said that Darren's response to the reviews became "unhealthy" for them as a couple.
"Normally, I promote a movie, ask people to go see it, and then it's just out of your hands," she said. "I normally just kind of let it go. Dating the director was different. We'd be on the [press] tour together, I'd come back to the hotel, and the last thing I want to talk about or think about is a movie."
She continued, "He comes back from the tour, and that's all he wants to talk about and I get. It's his baby. He wrote it. He conceived it. He directed it. I was doing double duty trying to be a supportive partner, while also being like, 'Can I please, for the love of God, not think about 'Mother!' for one second?'
"I finally was just like, 'It's not healthy. Neither of us are doing it because if I read it, I start getting defensive.' Especially because it's my man," she said. "It's awesome, what we did — some people hate it and the people who hate it, really hate it. But it's nothing that needs to be defended and if I read a negative review, I just feel defensive."
