Last August, Kristin Cavallari sent the pop culture world into a frenzy after reuniting with her ex-boyfriend, Stephen Colletti, and sharing a picture of them hanging out together.
Fans flooded Kristin's Instagram with comments — many pleading for the high school sweethearts to get back together. Even "Jersey Shore" star Snooki wrote, "Omg i am here for this."
Now, Stephen is reflecting on that moment, indicating he didn't expect to get that much of a reaction from the photo.
"It was definitely a bit of a shock there," he told Page Six. "It was nice to see that it was received in a positive way."
While discussing "Laguna Beach," which chronicled his high school romance with Kristin, Stephen said, "People look back on a show that was out a long time ago and have some fond memories of watching it with their friends and maybe can relate to some high school relationships that they had."
So many people reached out to Stephen after the viral photo, he had to turn off his cell phone for the day, he said.
Although Stephen didn't expect the massive reaction to the photo, Kristin did.
During an appearance on Brett Gurksy's podcast, she said, "I knew it was going to create a little commotion — I didn't know to what degree."
When the photo was taken, K.Cav was just a few months into her divorce from Jay Cutler, her husband of seven years.
"That's my most-liked photo on Instagram ever. More than my kids. More than anything in my life. That photo with Stephen," she said on the podcast. "I mean, I think it's really neat that people are still so invested and it really takes people back to that time."
