Sports might not be our forte here at Wonderwall.com, but fashion sure is! Which is why we've rounded up the best and worst dressed stars and athletes at this year's ESPY Awards, starting with "Total Divas" wrestler Nikki Bella. Now we know this is an award show honoring the sports world, but that's no excuse for wearing athleisure on the red carpet! John Cena's fiancée essentially showed up in an outfit fit for the gym — a zippered crop top and wide-legged pants. We're a little surprised she didn't finish it off with sneakers — instead, she opted for heels, making things even more confusing. This was definitely one of our least favorite looks of the night. Nastia Liukin donned these gorgeous drop earrings by Kimberly McDonald and opted to rock her hair in a middle part. We also loved her smoky eye and nude lip beauty look.
Olympic gymnast Simone Biles opted for a one-shouldered midnight blue number at the ESPYs, and though we loved the shade, the dress was trying to do too much at once. From the asymmetrical neckline to the bronze belt to the minidress style with its bizarre train, this one was definitely among the misses of the night.
NFL player Russell Wilson dominated among the men when it came to fashion, opting for Tom Ford. Ciara's husband looked incredibly stylish in his velvet tuxedo jacket with a matching oversized bow tie and classic patent leather shoes.
We're a little unsure as to why Elizabeth Olsen was in attendance at the ESPY Awards, but we're pretty certain of our stance on her outfit… boring! The star wore a black half-blazer, half-romper to the event, and instead of punching up the monochromatic look with a fun lip shade or shoe, she kept things super-simple.
You can never go wrong with a little black dress! Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn aced this look at the ESPY Awards, rocking a fun, long-sleeved Monique Lhuillier minidress with geometric designs and feather detailing on the skirt. Paired with a super-high, messy ponytail and jeweled stilettos, Lindsey cemented herself as one of the best dressed sports stars of the night!
Oh, Laurie Hernandez! The gymnast hit the red carpet in this black and white frilly, flowered mess and landed among the misses of the night. The floor-length, one-shouldered dress might have not been so bad if its only unfortunate characteristic was the excess of ruffles, but that huge flower, well… Let's take a closer look.
Gymnast Laurie Hernandez's dress featured one gigantic detail we really could have lived without — the huge flower on the left shoulder of her dress. The massive bloom featured black jewel detailing in the center plus some ribbons and was all around just too much.
We love a man in pink… and a man who takes risks when it comes to fashion! So we were all about NFL player Orlando Scandrick's look. The athlete rocked a shimmering pink suit with rose-colored shades and black dress shoes for a colorful, cool ensemble.
We thought we'd be spared a slew of unfortunate sheer dresses at the ESPYs, but we were wrong! Golfer Chelsea Lynn Pezzola showed up in this nude, long-sleeved, sheer number, which featured a skirt with a slit to the hip that also happened to be completely see-through. No thanks!
Just as effective as the LBD? The little white dress! Race car driver Danica Patrick gave us a great example of the perfect LWD on the ESPYs red carpet, rocking this white spaghetti-strap frock bordered with tulle. And the statement shoes — heels adorned with big, metallic beads — and the sparkly clutch just made the look even better!
We're obsessed with watching Rachel Lindsay's love story unfold on "The Bachelorette," but we're not obsessed with this look. The reality star arrived on the ESPYs carpet in this ill-fitting yellow minidress, and while we loved the color, we couldn't get behind the way the dress puckered in strange places. Add in her purple shoe selection, and this was an easy miss. The upside? Her gorgeous beauty look, which we'll see next…
Rachel Lindsay might have let us down in the fashion department, but that berry-colored lip stain and those gorgeous waves ensured that her beauty look was a home run.
Russell Westbrook couldn't have looked cooler on the red carpet. The basketball player opted for a half-unbuttoned black button-down shirt (man cleavage is in these days!), paired with green and white zippered track pants. We're forgiving the more casual choice on the bottom because of those incredible shoes with the buckles and all that layered arm candy. Congrats on the fashion hit, Russell!
We're used to being wowed by the stylish Olivia Culpo's red carpet looks, but this one underwhelmed. We liked the bare shoulders and the pearl detailing on the sleeves of her white halter gown by Mario Dice, but something about the long sleeves lost us. And though the white heels and silver clutch were nice touches, with such a clean look, we wish she would have taken more risks when it came to hair and makeup.
From the back, gymnast Aly Raisman's black dress looked like it had a full ballgown skirt… but that wasn't the case! See the front next!
Aly Raisman's dress had a surprise in store from the front! The gymnast looked lovely in this strapless black gown, which featured sparkly detailing on the bodice and a thigh-high slit.
Though we like her fierce pose, we've got to label fitness instructor Denise Austin's look a miss. The bright orange halter dress is reminiscent of something we'd see back in 2007, and the clunky gold heels weren't a good selection for the shade and style.
Shaun White looked sharp on the ESPYs red carpet! The snowboarder-skateboarder donned a tailored black suit, white dress shirt and black shoes — with slicked-back hair and shades — for an extra-cool vibe.
Maria Shriver was in attendance at the ESPY Awards and opted to wear a big ball gown. The over-the-top dress was a little much for the occasion (especially considering what Nikki Bella showed up in!), so we're going to have to label this strapless, high-low gown a miss. Sorry, Maria!
We loved Zosia Mamet's vibrant, long-sleeved minidress. The coral shade featured just the right amount of ruffles and paired well with those silver platforms. The only part we weren't crazy about? Her makeup! Get a better view next…
We loved the dress, but the accessories and beauty aspect of Zosia Mamet's ESPYs look missed the mark. The star opted to mix metals, rocking these silver detailed hoops alongside layered gold necklaces, and chose to pair her bright coral gown with a super-pale pink lip.
Gymnast Gabby Douglas went with a fitted, pale spaghetti-strap gown for the ESPY Awards. Though we liked the cut, we weren't fans of its haphazard patches of lace and silk.
Two words: beaded jumpsuit! We adored Ayesha Curry's ESPYs look! The long-sleeved jumpsuit featured just the right amount of sparkle and paired perfectly with those hoop earrings and her loose waves.
Gymnast Madison Kocian let us down on the ESPYs red carpet, selecting this matronly beaded creation. And those thick-strapped black heels certainly didn't help matters!
