Fashion hits and misses from the 2019 Tony Awards

Now that the Tony Awards have been handed out, it's time to critique the night's fashion! Wonderwall.com is rounding it all up for you, starting with our least favorite look of the night — from Emily Ratajkowski. The red carpet at the Tony Awards has never been known for its risque fashion, but the model attempted to spice things up in this black Michael Kors getup. Unfortunately, the ridiculous cut-outs felt tacky and out of place at the event, and the bodice that essentially resembled a bralette that gave way to a full pleated skirt didn't help matters. So which stars fared better in the fashion department? Keep reading to find out…

Pretty in pink Prada! Our best dressed star of the night? Regina King, who shut down the red carpet at the Tony Awards after arriving in this hot pink halter-style gown. The frock featured a gorgeous ruched bodice and dramatic train, and she took it up a notch with her accessories. See them next…

Regina King added some sparkle to her pink Prada ensemble in the form of these dazzling diamond drop earrings from Jacob & Co. jewelry. We loved this pick, and the way she added a bright pink lip and smokey eye to the mix when it came to her beauty look.

Bringing more bold color to the red carpet? Lucy Liu, who donned this darling Christian Siriano confection in bright purple. From the interesting bodice filled with cut-outs to the tiered layers of tulle, we loved every inch of this over-the-top frock. Next up? A look at her hair, makeup and our favorite jewelry selection of the night!

Instead of pairing her purple look with diamonds, Lucy Liu rocked these stunning green gemstones from Lorraine Schwartz, bringing yet another bold pop of color to her look. We loved the daring choice, which definitely paid off, and the way she picked subdued shades of makeup to let the other hues shine.

Feathers are always a risky move on the red carpet, and unfortunately, Cynthia Erivo's attempt didn't pan out well. Her Gris Gelinas dress was a fashion miss with its off-the-shoulder cut trimmed in layers and layers of white and yellow feathers. The dramatic top half felt unbalanced when compared to the slinky bottom, which featured a thigh-high slit.

A+, Tina Fey! The star rocked the chicest pantsuit of the night at the Tony Awards — this gold Thom Browne number with red, navy and white detailing along the sleeves, to which she added a white dress shirt, tie and matching clutch.

Though we loved the hue, we weren't fans of Samira Wiley's Tony Awards ensemble. Her Pamella Roland strapless gown's plunging neckline and thigh-high slit created a cool structured feel, but those silver heels did this design a disservice, throwing off the whole look.

Rachel Brosnahan wowed in this dreamy Dior dress. The pale gray spaghetti-strap gown appeared to have ruffled off-the-shoulder sleeves from afar, but you've got to see the dress up close to get a better look at the detailing…

Up close you can check out all the exquisite detailing on Rachel Brosnahan's Dior gown. The star's spaghetti-strap frock actually had ruffled detailing all along the bodice, giving the illusion of sleeves from certain angles. It also featured a thin, delicate belt detail at the waist and metallic embellishments throughout. And when it came time to add accessories, she went with pretty earrings by Selim Mouzannar.

Some things just don't go together… like a ballgown and a high-low hemline. Camille A. Brown proved that with this disastrous blue ensemble. Her strapless dress didn't start off great with its embellished and tulle-trimmed bodice, but it was the skirt that lost us. The mounds of tulle ended high in the front but continued to surround her and end at the floor at the back — a truly unfortunate silhouette.

Marisa Tomei gave us a gorgeous floral moment on the red carpet when she arrived rocking this strapless number with a sweetheart neckline. To fully appreciate this one, you've got to take a closer look at the print…

How pretty is this floral design?! Marisa Tomei's gown featured navy piping and a gray and magenta floral print overlay, complete with a green leaf motif. Our only complaint? That red-orange lip clashed terribly with this superb fashion choice.

Stunning at 70! Judith Light shut the red carpet down in this gorgeous Badgley Mischka gown. The silver frock employed an unexpected color combo with its pale pink embellishments, which we'll take a closer look at next…

We loved the way Judith Light's long-sleeved Badgley Mischka dress featured a light pink ribbon detail down the bodice and around the waist. The button embellishments and matching trim at the sleeves tied this look together perfectly. Judith matched her makeup to the feminine shade, rocking pale pink eyeshadow and a pink lip.

It looked like Catherine O'Hara plucked this look straight from her "Schitt's Creek" character Moira Rose's closet. And though we love both Catherine and her alter ego, we couldn't get behind this bold black-and-white look with horizontal and arched stripes. (But we do love the fact that it pays homage to her film "Beetlejuice"!)

The best dressed man of the night? That honor goes to Zachary Quinto, who got decked out in Emporio Armani. The star sported a navy blue velvet tuxedo jacket, a white dress shirt and a bow tie paired with black pants and black boots. But before we move on, the jacket deserves a closer look…

Zachary Quinto's navy blue Emporio Armani tuxedo jacket featured black lapels and a subtle print in a range of metallics over top. We loved the combination of that rich color and fabric, and the way he kept things classic by adding a bow tie.

Minidresses on the red carpet are a tricky thing. It completely depends upon the event, so even though Kristin Chenoweth's Christian Siriano frock had some cute ruffled detailing, we're just not sure it was right for the Tony Awards. And since we were on the fence anyway, those funky rainbow booties put this one in the miss category.

From the color to the cut, we loved everything about model Hilary Rhoda's Tony Awards ensemble — a gorgeous teal Cristina Ottaviano tiered silk ballgown with a sweetheart neckline. Next up? A better look at the jewels she paired with her confection…

When it came time to accessorize her Cristina Ottaviano dress, Hilary Rhoda opted for jewels by Ippolita. She sported the brand's delicate stardust necklace crafted from 18k gold and diamonds, and finished her look with gold Ippolita hoops, which both complemented the teal gown perfectly.

We've already touched on minidresses, and while Vanessa Hudgens's Altuzarra frock certainly felt fancy, we're still putting it on the miss list. The blue-green dress featured a high neck and three-quarter-length sleeves and would have been a perfect fit for the occasion if it had been floor length.

Sienna Miller went with a classic at the Tony Awards this year, sporting this sweet little black dress. The lace frock featured teeny spaghetti straps and a velvet belt at the waist, ending at a tea-length level that helped show off her strappy metallic sandals. Next up, her beauty look!

Sienna Miller continued on her streak of keeping things simple by pairing her black tea-length dress with an updo and a red lip. We loved the way she kept the rest of her makeup minimal and added a pair of diamond earrings to complete this stellar red carpet look.

Vanessa Carlton opted for this striking spaghetti-strap black dress with a pretty floral design throughout. The floor-length gown paired perfectly with her black sandals, but we were hoping for more when it came to her beauty look…

With such a beautiful dress, we were hoping for a little more in the beauty and accessories department from Vanessa Carlton. Though her AUrate diamond circle earrings were nice, their tiny size made them easy to overlook. We felt similarly about her straight hair parted in the center and that pink lip, also pretty but underwhelming when compared to the dress.

Jane Krakowski was feeling blue at the Tony Awards! We loved this long-sleeved navy look with a fun geometric print in various hues of blue. The thigh-high slit kept this dress from feeling too covered up and those platform heels complemented this look perfectly.

Dominique Morisseau made the fashion miss list with this red strapless frock, which was a little too shiny and pleather-like for our taste. And those silver shoes didn't help matters.

Looking dapper, Darren Criss! The actor cleaned up nicely in head-to-toe Givenchy for the Tony Awards, where he arrived rocking a classic black suit with a dress shirt sans tie for a crisper look. He finished things off with black boots and artfully messy hair.

Like we said earlier, feathers are always a risk. And Thalia's attempt didn't fare well, with the odd feather-filled panel of her skirt that from some angles looked like a train, others like a cape, and still others like a lengthy sleeve. It's a shame because without the feathery addition, we would have loved this pale blue look.

On any other red carpet, this look may not have worked, but Danai Gurira picked the perfect ensemble for the Tony Awards with this unique gold and white design. From the bow at the neckline and the sash at the waist to the gorgeous button detail and that pretty golden-hued print, this unique gown stood out. We also loved those romantic sleeves and the pleating down the skirt!

Though the cape silhouette isn't exactly original, Laurie Metcalf's all-white ensemble was pretty on the Tony Awards red carpet. The frock featured a cape detail descending from the shoulders, a low neckline and a modest slit up the front for a crisp look. Our only negative note? We would have loved to see this look paired with something more summery than that black clutch.

Laura Linney looked glamorous in this one-shouldered black gown by Christian Siriano. The long-sleeved design featured an asymmetrical neckline and stunning sparkly embellishments all over. Her beauty look was a nod to classic Old Hollywood glamour — a bold red lip and wide waves.

What's happening here, Laura Benanti? The star arrived in this half-jumpsuit, half-dress ensemble, and though it's a better attempt than a lot of the hybrid looks we've seen in the past, we're still not sold. And though we can't get behind the silhouette, we do love that rich color! Next we'll check out her hair, makeup and jewels…

How amazing are those diamond earrings? We loved Laura Benanti's dangly diamonds and the way she complemented her red dress with a nude lip and bronze-hued eyeshadow.
