Celeb couples who've collaborated on music together

Join Wonderwall.com as we take a look at the famous lovers who've made magic in the music studio together… starting with the reigning king and queen of hip hop, JAY-Z and Beyonce. The Carters have a long history of collaborating, including on their 2003 Grammy-winning song "Crazy in Love" and their 2018 Grammy-winning album "Everything Is Love." More recently, Bey and Jay recorded the hit song "Mood 4 Eva," which was featured on 2019's "The Lion King: The Gift" soundtrack. Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello went public as a couple in the summer of 2019. In 2015 — when they were just friends — the two released "I Know What You Did Last Summer." Then in 2019, they collaborated on the sexy summer single "Senorita," which features lyrics hinting about a pair who are more than pals — like "You say we're just friends / But friends don't know the way you taste."

The musical collaboration between Taylor Swift and then-beau Calvin Harris included a third wheel. Their song, "This is What You Came For," was co-written by Taylor under the pseudonym Nils Sjöberg but was performed by Calvin and pop star Rihanna. The video for the hit single won an MTV Video Music Award but Taylor and Calvin's romance flatlined in 2016 just a few months after the song hit the airwaves.

Speaking of Taylor Swift, even though she only dated John Mayer for a few months (does it even count as a relationship?), the world got "Half of My Heart" to commemorate their short-lived love affair. The song was featured on John's fourth studio album, "Battle Scars," which dropped on Nov. 17, 2009 — right before the pair reportedly kicked off their micro-romance.

Katy Perry fell for John Mayer in 2012 and the following year, they released a song together, the duet "Who You Love." John and Katy, who were on and off for years, eventually parted ways for good in 2015.

Meek Mill and Nicki Minaj might have chucked a deuce on their two-year romance, but before they split in 2017, they gifted the world with multiple song collaborations (many recorded before they were officially an item), including the 2015 track "All Eyes on You." Following their breakup, Nicki has gone after Meek in verse, rapping on "Barbie Dreams," "Meek still be in my DMs / I be having to duck him."

You might not remember that Gwyneth Paltrow is an amazing singer (we present the song "Cruisin'" that she sang with Huey Lewis in the film "Duets" as evidence). It's no wonder then that she and her first husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, collaborated on the song "Everglow" off Coldplay's 2016 album "A Head Full of Dreams." Here's the catch: They actually worked together after they consciously uncoupled.

The studio collaborations between Migos rapper Offset and rapper Cardi B are many. The couple, who got together and married in 2017, have contributed to numerous songs on each other's albums including the tracks "Lick," "Bartier Cardi," "Clout" and "Motorsport," among others.

Ariana Grande has collaborated on music with her lovers several times, including on "Stick Around" with Graham Phillips, "Almost is Never Enough" with Nathan Sykes and several songs (like "The Way" ) with the late Mac Miller. Of course, Ariana also released several tracks with former boyfriend Big Sean (seen here) before and during their eight-month relationship. Our favorite was the 2014 single "Big Mistake," which may or may not have been a window into the young couple's fast-paced relationship.

Tim McGraw and Faith Hill are country music royalty. Over the course of their more than two-decade-long marriage, they've collaborated on numerous romantic melodies. Some of our absolute favorite duets include 2017's "Keep Your Eyes on Me," 1998's "Just to Hear You Say That You Love Me," 2002's "Let's Make Love" and 2005's "Like We Never Loved At All" (the latter two songs won Grammys for best country collaboration).

The Beatles star John Lennon and wife Yoko Ono had a creative connection that stimulated and inspired multiple collaborations in art, photography and, of course, music. Together, they created iconic songs like "Give Peace a Chance" and "Imagine." John also helped Yoko write many of the songs on her album "Fly" including "Don't Worry Kyoko," "Hirake" and "Mrs. Lennon."

Music superstar and former "The Voice" coach Alicia Keys and her husband, rapper and music producer Swizz Beatz, haven't just recorded a song together — they've also written music together. The couple, who married in 2010 and share two sons, first collaborated in 2007 on Alicia's "Waiting For Your Love" then returned to the studio in 2009 to co-write songs like "Put It In a Love Song," "Wait Till You See My Smile" and "Million Dollar Bill" (Whitney Houston recorded that last one the same year). In 2011, Alicia and Swizz — whose real name is Kasseem Dean — dropped the club hit "International Party" featuring both of them on the mic.

Exes Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber reportedly worked together on a song called "Can't Steal Our Love" back in 2013. It was never released, but in 2017, while Jelena seemed to be rekindling their romance, the song was leaked online, though it was missing most of Justin's lines. While the two have moved on in their lives — Justin married Hailey Baldwin in 2018– we can still dream that the two might reunite to finish their song.

Ciara is no stranger to collaborating with the men in her life. In 2005, she and then-boyfriend Bow Wow dropped the track "Like You," which went on to reach No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Long after she and Bow Wow were through, Ciara connected with another musical star, Future (seen here), in 2013. The same year they confirmed their relationship, the two also dropped the track "Body Party," which explored how they met and fell in love. While their music has lived on, their relationship ended. Not long after becoming parents to son Future Wilburn, the couple broke up right before they'd planned to get married.

Canadian music stars Chad Kroeger and Avril Lavigne fell for one another while working together on one of her albums. They collaborated on music including the haunting love song "Let Me Go" in 2013. Their 2015 divorce after two years of marriage didn't mean the end of their musical connection, however. Chad and Avril have remained friends since their split, with Avril revealing that she occasionally sends Chad her music to get his input.

How heartbreaking is it to listen to Erykah Badu and Common's 2002 love song "Love of My Life," knowing that they broke up that same year? With lyrics like "Love of my life / You are my friend / Love of my life / A dude I can depend, yeah, yeah / Love of my life / Feels like a simple true love, yeah," we can't help but wonder what went wrong in their two-year romance. Common did reveal in 2019 that the breakup left him so crushed, he had a hard time eating. Eventually, however, the loss allowed him to realize his own need for growth and set him on a path of empowerment and self love.

Sonny Bono and Cher are arguably two of the most famous collaborators in the history of music. During their decade-long romance, the couple produced dozens of hit duets including "I've Got You Babe," "The Beat Goes On," "All I Ever Need Is You" (which earned them a Grammy nomination) and "Let It Be Me." After their divorce in 1975, they went on to launch solo careers, with Cher becoming a multi-platinum, Grammy- and Oscar-winning star. Sonny died in a 1998 skiing accident.

"American Idol" winner Jordin Sparks began dating "Whatcha Say" singer Jason Derulo in 2011 and before long, the pair were inseparable. They collaborated on songs like Jason's 2014 hit "Vertigo" and Jordin appeared in the video for Jason's song "Marry Me." Weirdly enough, the matrimonial-themed music reportedly caused friction in their relationship, with Jason later telling Ryan Seacrest that Jordin was "pressuring him" to get married — a claim Jordin denied. The couple broke up for good in 2014.

Former country music sweethearts Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert spent nine years together and in that time, left us with a treasure trove of hits to remind us of their love. From their early duet of "You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma" in 2005 (while Blake was still married to his first wife, Kaynette Williams) to their later hits like "Home," "Bare Skin Rug" and "Over You," Miranda and Blake were no strangers to appearing on each other's albums. In 2015, they divorced after four years of marriage.

Onetime lovers Lil' Kim and Notorious B.I.G. (seen here with Sean "Puffy" Combs in 1995) collaborated on tracks before and, thanks to vocals he'd already recorded, after his 1997 shooting death. They include "Notorious B.I.G.," "Get Money" and "Crush On You."

Rock royalty Johnny Cash and wife June Carter Cash met while performing at the same venue in the 1950s. They later fell in love and spent decades collaborating on music together. Some of their best known hits include "If I Were a Carpenter," "Oh, What a Good Thing We Had," "It Ain't Me Babe" and "Jackson." On Nov. 5, 2002, Johnny released his final album, "American IV: The Man Comes Around," which featured his powerful cover of Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt." June would appear with Johnny in the 2003 video just months before her death on May 15 and his on Sept. 12 that same year.

Long before JAY-Z and Beyonce were music royalty, Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston held the title. After falling in love in 1989 at the height of their careers, it wasn't long before they collaborated in the studio. In 1992, the same year the couple married (and one year before their daughter, Bobbi Kristina Brown, was born), Bobby released "Something In Common" featuring vocals from Whitney, who also appeared in the track's music video. Whitney died in 2012 a few years after they divorced.

After meeting and falling for one another in 2002, rapper Nas and singer Kelis wasted no time collaborating in the studio. Some of their greatest tracks include 2005's "In Public" and 2006's "Blindfold Me" and "Not Going Back." But by 2009, the couple — who'd married in 2005 and welcomed a son, Knight Jones, in 2009 — had split.

Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas briefly dated after meeting on the set of their 2008 Disney Channel movie "Camp Rock" (seen here). Although they technically weren't dating during filming, the future lovebirds did write and perform the song "This Is Me" together, which, as we all know, was featured in the movie.
