Wonderwall.com is taking a look back at the stars who found love, suffered heartbreak or experienced some other major event in their love lives in late May 2020, starting with this split… Less than a week after it was first reported that Scott Disick and Sofia Richie were "on a break," multiple media outlets reported that they've officially called it quits. Page Six reported on May 27 that, according to a source, the relationship simply "ran its course," although other issues — like the father of three's "past traumas," including the mental health issues for which he sought treatment earlier this month — contributed to the breakup. "Scott had gone back to his old ways, and Sofia got fed up," said the Page Six source, adding that Scott's relationship with former partner Kourtney Kardashian — with whom he recently celebrated his 37th birthday, sans Sofia — also played a role in the split. "Kourtney didn't make it easy for [Sofia], and you can only tolerate that kind of treatment for so long," said the insider. An Us Weekly source added that the breakup "was only a matter of time," noting that Scott "isn't the best version of himself right now," which "has been a lot" for his much younger girlfriend. The Us Weekly source also said that Sofia is "sad about the situation but trying to take care of herself," while Scott is "definitely feeling sad and defeated in a way right now." As for Kourtney and her famous family, "[They're] trying their best to be there for him … and show him how loved and cared for he is." Meanwhile, an E! News source said that although Scott and Sofia "are technically 'split,'" they've "been in touch" and "it's very likely they will reconcile" in the near future. According to the E! insider, "there wasn't a fight or anything bad that happened between them" that led to the split. Rather, the model simply wishes to "do her own thing," while Scott focuses on taking "care of his health." Continued the source, "Sofia thinks Scott has a lot on his plate right now and thinks it's best for them to be apart so he can focus on himself. She is only looking out for him and his best interest and it was primarily her decision for them to split. On May 25, Page Six reported that the Maryland-based mystery man to whom NeNe Leakes has been recently linked is a USDA director named Rodney White. According to the New York Post's gossip column, they've been "family friends" for years — since before she found stardom on "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" — but started growing closer in late 2017. "People close to him have said that it's all about the lifestyle," said a source of NeNe and Rodney's rumored relationship. "If it wasn't for that, he wouldn't give her the time of day … because he didn't before when she was a nobody. He knew her before she became the NeNe Leakes that she is today and before the multiple surgeries to change her looks." Two more sources allegedly witnessed the duo packing on the PDA during a night out in Miami in January 2019: "They were all over each other," said one spy. "They were touching each other, laughing, giggling, kissing, but it wasn't like they were full-blown slobbering down. I don't think she was trying to hide it." Said a second witness, "She was all over this guy. Kissing, cuddling, holding, sitting on his lap." Yet another Page Six source said that Rodney often accompanies NeNe to Los Angeles and has even met several of her "Housewives" co-stars, as well as pal Wendy Williams. As for NeNe's husband, Gregg Leakes, yet another Page Six source speculated that he's aware of the relationship and "is OK with it" because his missus "is taking care of him" financially. (Earlier this year, NeNe said she wouldn't divorce Gregg and deprive him of her health insurance amid his cancer battle.) Still another source suggested that vanity is behind NeNe's eyebrow-raising relationship with Rodney: "She knows deep down that [Rodney] could never give her what she's seeking — and that's love, but she's trying because all of the other ladies on the show have young men that look nice and they're not Gregg," said the insider. During a May 26 interview with Us Weekly, Kenya Moore confirmed that she and her castmates — as well as "Housewives" from other iterations of the Bravo franchise — "knew that [NeNe] was out with this man constantly being affectionate" and "knew what she was doing on the side." Added Kenya, "We certainly have had a lot of conversations about her and this man. They've been seeing each other for a very long time." She went on to explain why she doesn't take relationship advice from NeNe: "For me, it's like, if you're so comfortable being out in public with someone and kissing them and being just inappropriate — you're a married woman — so for me, there was nothing that she could tell me about a marriage, because your own behavior with your own husband is not something that I would want to emulate at any point in time during my marriage," she said. Us Weekly added that according to a source, "It's an open secret [that] Nene and Rodney spend time together. … NeNe goes to visit him in Maryland." The insider also made it clear that their relationship is "absolutely romantic."

Mary-Kate Olsen officially filed to divorce Olivier Sarkozy on May 25 — the day New York City courts reopened to electronic filings. (The coronavirus pandemic thwarted her previous attempts to begin the process of legally ending her marriage.) Two days earlier, Page Six reported that, according to a source, the French financier's attitude toward his wife "completely changed" prior to their breakup: "Even his view of the marriage had changed, which surprised people who knew them," said the source. Another insider hinted that the divorce could get messy: "[Olivier] seems like a fun guy when you meet him but he is a shark. Very tough," said the second source. "He's not somebody you want to go up against. His divorce from [his first wife] got very messy for a while and they really went after each other. Don't underestimate him if it gets messy with Mary-Kate. … He sees himself as the alpha male. He will get even more French as he fights her. They can turn cold very fast on their wives once the relationship is over." Meanwhile, People magazine reported on May 21 that, according to a source, Olivier "never understood" Mary-Kate's "drive and passion" for her work. "He would have loved to have a stay-at-home wife," said the source, adding that while MK rarely travels due to work commitments, Olivier "loves traveling to tropical places with his French friends" and "traveled without her several times." Said a second People source, "Mary-Kate is super career-focused and he wanted her to be more available. But you can't control a girl who has been on the billionaire track since her 20s." On May 27, Page Six reported that, according to a source, "the final straw" for Mary-Kate came in April when Olivier told her he was "concerned for the safety of his family" living in New York City amid the pandemic and intended to move everyone — his first wife, Charlotte Bernard, their two children and his mother — into the home he shared with the former child star in the Hamptons. "The plan to move in his family was his way of moving on," said the source, adding that there was "no cheating or betrayals" that led to the breakup. "It was simply erosion … growing apart. … Sometimes couples just run their course," noted the insider. As for Olivier's relationship with Charlotte, "there's no romance between" them, said the source, noting that she was on hand when he and MK tied the knot and that "it was not uncommon for Charlotte to be around and stay in a separate bedroom in the Hamptons on holidays or birthdays." According to a second Page Six source, Mary-Kate "loves" Olivier and Charlotte's two children, but "it was too much to have his ex-wife living with them during the pandemic." Olivier and Charlotte, meanwhile, are "on good, very friendly terms."

Page Six reported on May 25 that "Riverdale" co-stars Lili Reinhart and Cole Sprouse recently called it quits after three years of off-and-on coupledom. "Cole and Lili split before the pandemic hit and have been quarantining separately. They remain good friends," said a source. In mid-April, there were reports that Cole cheated on Lili with pal Kaia Gerber. At the time, he took to his Instagram Story to slam the "baseless accusations," and E! News reported that although they weren't quarantining together, Cole and Lili were still an item.
Jaime King's split from her husband of more than 12 years, Kyle Newman, is turning nasty. On May 22, the filmmaker requested an emergency hearing seeking sole physical custody of the two sons he shares with the actress, who've been living with him in Pennsylvania amid the coronavirus pandemic. (He's also asking for joint legal custody and for his estranged wife to vacate the family home in Los Angeles so that he can live there with the boys.) According to TMZ, he alleges in his legal paperwork that Jaime is an alcoholic and "spent the last decade high" due to an opioid addiction, putting their sons at risk. He goes on to claim that in January, he and 14 of Jaime's friends staged an intervention, during which he told her that if she didn't get help, he and the boys would "leave for their own safety." He claims that Jaime briefly sought treatment at a Utah rehab facility but, writes TMZ, "left shortly after arriving because she tried to check in with a bunch of pills on her … including Adderall and Clonazepam." (Two nannies and a former assistant submitted declarations echoing Kyle's claims that Jaime is addicted to opioids and has put the children at risk — specifically by driving with them while under the influence.) He also alleges that the "Sin City" star hasn't made much effort to spend quality time with their sons, is guilty of "innumerable infidelities" and admitted to having an affair in February. Kyle says things between him and Jaime took a turn for the worse on May 15 when they were discussing their divorce plans and she suddenly accused him of "stealing" their kids. "He tried to reassure her but claims she got angrier and threatened to ruin him," TMZ writes, adding that Kyle claims he felt "blindsided" when Jaime suddenly filed for divorce and obtained a restraining order against him. Ultimately, a judge rejected Kyle's request for an emergency order for custody, ruling that he and Jaime will need to pursue the normal channels to determine custody at a later date, but that the boys can stay with him in Pennsylvania for now. A rep for the actress told TMZ that Kyle's attempts to secure full custody are "another vicious, failed attempt … to continue his abuse of Jaime and manipulate the court system." The rep also noted that Jaime's "temporary domestic violence restraining order remains in place to protect" her from Kyle. Meanwhile, Jaime is accusing Kyle of tracking her electronically, isolating her from friends and work opportunities and taking "hundreds of thousands of dollars" out of their joint bank account. "She says she feels sick to her stomach with every encounter with Kyle," writes TMZ. According to Us Weekly, Jaime's accusing him of a wide array of emotionally abusive behavior. "While outwardly I am a strong, working actress and producer, behind closed doors I was beaten down," she writes in legal documents. "I have suffered the most confusing trauma-filled experiences involving emotional manipulation and gaslighting. … He has systematically made me feel inadequate, insecure, unsafe and traumatized." She also denies that she's ever had addiction issues and alleges that Kyle staged the intervention as a means of controlling her.
On May 21, Demi Lovato took to her Instagram Story to resurface a 2011 tweet from her new boyfriend, Max Ehrich, in which he wrote that all he "wanted for Christmas was Demi Lovato." Added the singer-actress, "Every Christmas? We love a little manifestation." She also shared a mirror selfie in which they could be seen going in for a kiss. "U R Magic," she wrote across the sweet shot. Four days later, they packed on the PDA on her Instagram Story again. "I now spend my days in a bathing suit with no makeup with someone who accepts and loves me for who I am; Flaws and all. I love you @maxehrich," she wrote at the bottom of a selfie showing the former soap star pecking her on the cheek.
On May 20, an old Drake song in which the rapper refers to rumored former love and longtime pal Kylie Jenner as "a side piece" resurfaced during an Instagram Live. The following morning, Drake took to his Instagram Story to apologize, writing that the track — which was "scrapped shortly after" it first leaked three years ago — "shouldn't have been played." Added the chart-topper, "Last thing I'd want to do is wake up having any friends of mine feeling disrespected, so I just had to say that to start the day." On May 22, E! News reported that, according to a source, the makeup mogul wasn't offended by the resurfaced song and, in fact, "appreciated" that Drake acted so quickly to remedy the situation: "She has no hard feelings about it. She knew it was old," said the source. "Her and Drake are still very good friends and she just laughed it off. … [They] still keep in touch regularly and all is good." For the past year, there have been conflicting reports about the nature of Kylie and Drake's relationship.
On the May 26 episode of the "Today" show, Jennifer Lopez gave an update on her postponed nuptials: "There's no planning right now. You just have to kind of wait and see how this all plays out," she said. "I'm a little heartbroken because we did have some great plans, but I'm also like, you know what, God has a bigger plan, so we just have to wait and see. Maybe it's going to be better. I have to believe that it will be." She added that if there's an upside to the coronavirus quarantine, it's having "dinner together every night" with fiancé Alex Rodriguez and their kids. "I've got to tell you, I love that — that part I love," she said. J-Rod reportedly planned to tie the knot in Italy this summer.
On the May 26 episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live," Lisa Kudrow explained why she and her husband, Michel Stern, spent their 25th wedding anniversary — May 27 — apart. After joking that they've only been quarantining together "sometimes" because that's "the best way for a marriage," the "Friends" alum explained that they were together in Palm Springs, where they own a house, when stay-at-home orders first went into effect. Eventually the weather got "too hot" for the actress, so she left her hubby behind in California to deal with the house, which "needed work." Said Lisa of spending their big anniversary apart, "We are so used to not actually being able to be together on our anniversary that we were like, 'Oh, well. Does it matter? I love you. You still love me? Yeah. Great. We're good.'"
Us Weekly reported on May 27 that, according to a source, Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli are still going strong amid their headline-making plea deal over the college admissions scandal. "It's definitely shaken things up in their relationship, and not for the better, but they're going to get through it," said the source. "They'll do their time, and then decide as a family how to move forward. They know the most logical way through this is together. While all this plays out, they need to remain a united front. There's no other option for the time being."
The second season of "Selling Sunset," which debuted on May 22, included a teaser for the upcoming third season of the Netflix reality show, which is due in early August. In the preview, Chrishell Stause reacts to the news that her husband, Justin Hartley, filed for divorce: "I'm just kind of in shock with it all," she says. "It's just a lot all at once because the whole world knows. I love him so much. This was my best friend. Who do I talk to now?" she later adds. During an interview with "Entertainment Tonight" that popped up online on May 22, Chrishell said of her ex, "I obviously really, truly love him and it's unfortunate the way that everything happened and the timing of everything. … Hopefully we can get to a place where one day we will look back at this and laugh. I don't know, hopefully. It's very unfortunate and relationships are hard."
Azealia Banks alleged during an expletive-laced May 25 rant on her Instagram Story that she slept with Dave Chappelle, who's been married for nearly two decades. After saying that she's been with "a lot" of "very powerful" men, she called out the comedian and threatened to "ruin" his marriage. "I should ruin your … marriage. I should tell the … world that we f—–," she said, questioning why she's been "keeping secrets" for men who "don't look out" for her. She then, however, said that she'd be open to sleeping with Dave again. The funnyman has yet to address her allegations.
On May 22, Mackenzie McKee took to Twitter to clarify that her husband, Josh McKee, didn't physically cheat on her with her "close cousin Ashley" — as she strongly implied in a since-deleted Facebook post that surfaced earlier this month. "I never used the word 'banging' or 'cheating,'" she tweeted, adding that Josh "was texting and calling" Ashley for "advice on how to handle" her. The "Teen Mom" star then explained that although Josh didn't get physical with Ashley, their inappropriate communication with one another was "wrong on both ends" and grounds for her to "walk away" from the relationship, which has been tenuous for the past year.
Former "Southern Charm" star Jennifer Snowdon took to Instagram on May 23 to announce that she and her boyfriend of more than a decade, Lee James, are engaged. "WE'RE GETTING MARRIED!!!" she captioned a slideshow of photos depicting the proposal, which went down at an art studio in Sullivan's Island, South Carolina.
On May 22, former "Extreme Weight Loss" star Chris Powell took to Instagram to announce that "with much thought, prayer, and love," he and his wife of nearly a decade, Heidi, "have decided to separate as husband and wife." Wrote the personal trainer, "While this may come as quite a shock to many of you, please know that this decision was made over the course of many months on a quest to create the best dynamic for our modern family, and we are now in a great place. While we feel an immense amount of sadness from the ending of one chapter, there is also an overwhelming amount of hope, peace, and love as we move into this next chapter with a slightly different-looking relationship." He went on to say that he and his estranged missus, who share a son and a daughter, as well as her two children from a previous relationship, "will ALWAYS be a family, bound by 4 amazingly beautiful children (and 2 dads)." Continued Chris, "As crazy as it may seem, we wouldn't have it any other way. All 7 of us receive endless amounts of love and support from each other, as well as from the many wonderful people in our lives. A match made in reality TV heaven? On the May 25 episode of "90 Day Fiancé: Self-Quarantined," Fernanda Flores had "a Zoom date" with Bachelor Nation's Clay Harbor. "I'm excited. I'm a little nervous," she said before the date. She went on to say that she and the professional football player — whom she described as "so hot" and "a guy that I like a lot" — met "a few months ago over social media" and "went on a first date" before the coronavirus pandemic, "but it wasn't the right timing" for her, she said. "I wasn't ready to be dating. Now, we wanna date again, but now we're stuck home with quarantine and we figure we could have a virtual date," she dished. During their digital date, Fernanda told Clay how her thoughts on relationships have changed following her divorce from Jonathan Rivera: "If you asked me [whether or not I want kids] when I was fresh out of my separation, I would say 'No, I will never date again! I don't believe in men,'" she said. "But you know, I'm ready to give love a chance again." She later added during a confessional, "I can't wait for this quarantine to be over and be able to have a real date with him, where I can be physically touching his muscles, and have physical contact."
Meghan King (formerly Meghan King Edmonds!) and her new boyfriend, entrepreneur and "Life Uncharted" podcast host Christian Schauf, went Instagram official on May 27. "I guess if it's in [People magazine], it must be true… 😉 I'll just say this: I'm happy and looking forward to writing my next chapter," she captioned a selfie with her new beau and his dog. She posted the same shot on her Instagram Story, adding that "the rumors (in this case) are true."
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas took to Instagram on May 25 to celebrate the second anniversary of their first date: a baseball game at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. "2 years ago today we took our very first picture together. Every day since then you have brought me endless joy and happiness. I love you @nickjonas Thank you for making our life together so incredible. Here's to many more date nights," the actress captioned a throwback selfie. "Best two years of my life. I love you," her hubby wrote in the comments section. Nick also paid tribute to his missus on his own Instagram feed: "This beautiful woman and I went on our first date two years ago today. It has been the best two years of my life, and to think I am lucky enough to get to spend the rest of my life with her is such an incredible blessing. I love you babe. Happy two years," he captioned a photo of them both rocking cowboy hats.
In other anniversary news, Jessica Simpson took to Instagram on May 21 to mark the 10th anniversary of the day she met her husband, Eric Johnson. "I fell head over slippers in love with this perfect man 10 YEARS ago today! By chance he knocked on my dreamy cottage door (sigh), I let him in and never let him leave. He is mine, I am his…forever #MAY212010," she captioned a selfie with her hubby.
In still more anniversary news, Elizabeth Chambers took to Instagram on May 25 to celebrate her 10th wedding anniversary with Armie Hammer. "TEN years married, twelve together, thirteen years as best friends. Happy Anniversary, my love. I'm beyond grateful for you, this decade, our family and the dreamiest Friday night anniversary sunset," she captioned a slideshow of pictures including a wedding photo and a shot of herself and the actor posing with their two kids on the beach while watching the sun go down.
On the May 22 episode of Lewis Howes' "The School of Greatness" podcast, Kevin Hart opened up about how he and his wife, Eniko Parrish, survived his 2017 cheating scandal: "She came to an amazing conclusion of, 'I like the fact that we have a family, that we have a household, and I like the fact that we now got a job to do to get better. That's what you owe me. You owe me the get-better,'" he said, adding that moving forward following the scandal "wasn't a walk in the park." Continued the comedian, "It was her understanding that we don't let the outside world affect our inside, and I credit her for setting that tone."
During an interview with The Daily Dish that hit the Internet on May 25, Yolanda Hadid said she's "very much in love" with her boyfriend of 15 months, Joseph Jingoli. "What has connected us is probably horses and the farm life. We live 10 miles apart, so it's kind of perfect," she added.
On the May 26 episode of the "Help! I Suck at Dating" podcast, Dean Unglert revealed that he once attempted to shoot his shot with Andi Dorfman: "I think before I had gone on ['Bachelor in Paradise'] for the second time, I might have slid into Andi Dorfman's DMs. Or I maybe just asked Amanda Stanton to introduce me to her," he said. "I can't remember. I think it's the latter, not the former. I don't know I ever actually officially slid, but there was a point where I had a crush on her. … I just thought she was cute. I think that Amanda Stanton posted a picture with her and I was like, 'Oh, that girl's cute.' And then I click over to her page, and was like, 'Oh, that girl used to be the Bachelorette.' That was basically it." Everything ultimately worked out fine for the two-time "Bachelor in Paradise" contestant, who fell for his current love, Caelynn Miller-Keyes, on season 6 of the spinoff.
During a May 21 interview with Us Weekly, Brielle Biermann said that although she's still friendly with "a few" of her exes, her most widely known former love, Michael Kopech, "blocked" her from contacting him. "I want to keep in touch," she said. "Because I'm not a bitter ex. I actually am super happy for my exes and what's going on in their lives, but it's them. They block me and it's, like, 'You blocked me?' And it's, like, 'Damn, did I hurt you that bad that you don't want to see my stuff anymore? I want to be friends still.'" The "Don't Be Tardy" star went on to say that she's "very single" right now. (Michael, meanwhile, married "Riverdale" star Vanessa Morgan in January.) "I don't know what I would be doing, but staying home and not meeting anybody is not the mood because I mean, I don't even want to get on dating apps," said Brielle. "I was on Bumble and they deleted my account, I guess because they thought it was a fake account. I went to go look on it the other day. During an interview for the cover of the June/July 2020 issue of AARP The Magazine, Alan Alda dished on his marriage of more than six decades to his wife, Arlene: "Arlene's answer is that the secret to a long marriage is a short memory. My answer? Love," he said. "Even when you're yelling at the person — and there will be yelling — keep in mind that this is the person you love more than anything. That changes your tone. So, you don't say, 'I hate you!' You [sing], 'I hate you-u-u.'"
During an interview with the Mail on Sunday that hit the Internet on May 23, Woody Allen opened up about his "happy" marriage of more than two decades to Soon-Yi Previn, the 35-years-younger adopted daughter of his former partner, Mia Farrow. "I admit, it didn't make sense when our relationship started," he said. "On the surface we looked like an irrational match. I was much older and she was an adopted kid. It looked to the outside world that it was an exploitative situation — that I would exploit her as an older predatory male, and she would exploit me for whatever I had. That was never the case. In the past, I had always gone out with actresses, but for whatever inexplicable reason, with Soon-Yi it worked." He went on to say that they "didn't let" the controversy surrounding their relationship affect them. "My view was always that most relationships don't work, which is why people have affairs. But then you can marry, divorce, marry, divorce, or you can go out with 56 people and if you are lucky might find the right one, and that happened to me," he said, adding that he's "calmed down" since he got married and gotten rid of many of his "more neurotic traits." He and Soon-Yi work, he said, because they "agree on the big stuff — raising kids, where to live, how to act with each other." Continued the filmmaker, "We had a lot of fun. … Soon-Yi changed me. She gets me to go out four or five times a week. She likes the social rumble and I enjoy it, too. … I am happy in my marriage."
