Trevor Noah to host 2021 Grammy Awards, Beyonce leads nominations
Thanks to the Recording Academy, music fans can argue about something a little less toxic than politics over their Zoom Thanksgiving dinners. Yep, nominees for the 2021 Grammy Awards were announced Tuesday, Nov. 23, just a few hours after the academy revealed "Daily Show" host Trevor Noah will helm the ceremony. "In a year that most human beings would love to forget, there has been one constant force that has brought us together – Music," Trevor tweeted Tuesday. "I'm truly honoured to be hosting The #GRAMMYS, a night celebrating all of our favourite artists who've helped keep us sane while we're all stuck indoors!" This year, Beyonce tops the list of major category nominees with nine chances to win Grammy gold, including nods for record of the year, song of the year, best R&B song and best R&B performance for "Black Parade." She's also up for best music video and best music film for "Brown Skin Girl" and "Black Is King," respectively. Bey's "Savage" collab with Megan Thee Stallion, meanwhile, is nominated for record of the year, best rap performance and best rap song. Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa and Roddy Rich are all right behind Beyonce, numbers-wise, while Harry Styles and BTS both snagged their first-ever nominations. As far as health precautions regarding the pandemic, a recent post on Grammy.com said organizers are currently developing multiple plans for the show's format — which could be anything from a limited audience to no audience, likely with some combination of virtual and live segments. The 68th Grammy Awards airs on CBS, CBS All Access and Grammy.com on Jan. 31.
Taylor Swift's fans are having a really happy Tuesday …
Taylor Swift fans around the world lost their collective minds early Tuesday, Nov. 24, after the singer — who just two days ago posted that she had "not a lot going on at the moment" — revealed she was releasing a surprise, previously unseen film about her new album, "Folklore." "It's 11/24 and 24 – 11 = 13 so I've got an announcement," Taylor tweeted, referencing her favorite number. "… Folklore: the long pond studio sessions will be out tonight at midnight PST on DisneyPlus!" Swifties quickly began buzzing about the news on Twitter. "YOU SAID THERE WASN'T A LOT GOING ON AT THE MOMENT! THIS IS A LOT!!!" one fan wrote in response to the film news. "honestly this is the BEST way taylor swift could've brought folklore to us live, in my opinion," another posted. "not that i'd ever turn my nose at hearing it in full concert, but i think this will best capture the isolated spirit of the album and i am so so so excited." That excitement was hardly quelled a few hours later when the Recording Academy announced the 2021 Grammy nominations, which included six overall for Taylor — five of which, including album of the year, best pop vocal album and song of the year ("Cardigan"), come courtesy of "Folklore." In her speech at Sunday's American Music Awards, Taylor also confirmed she's currently rerecording her back catalog following Scooter Braun's controversial purchase and subsequent sale of her masters.

Drew Barrymore faces backlash over on-air wedding between a teacher and his alleged former student
Drew Barrymore and her new show are under fire amid new claims about the couple whose wedding Drew and her producers recently orchestrated. Last week, "The Drew Barrymore Show" gifted a pair of guests named Dan and Selina with an on-air ceremony to replace the wedding they had to cancel because of the pandemic. While Dan and Selina said only that they "met several years ago in school through mutual friends," YouTube users posted claims this week indicating Selina met Dan when she was 17 — and he was her high school teacher. "It would be a great story if it was actually true. They met 'in school' because she was his student. The mutual friends was the physics class he taught," one viewer commented. Another user asked if CBS couldn't "find a couple whose relationship didn't begin completely inappropriately," while a third chimed in to say, "I just hope he's more observant of his marriage vows than he was of the law when he started dating her," according to Page Six. The couple said they've been together for seven years. As of Tuesday afternoon, neither the show nor the newlyweds had weighed in on the claims about the beginning of their relationship.
Kaitlyn Bristowe and Artem Chigvintsev reflects on their 'DWTS' win
For the second year in a row, a "Bachelorette" alum has won the coveted Mirrorball trophy on "Dancing With the Stars." On Monday, Nov. 23, Kaitlyn Bristowe, a lifelong dancer whose mom was a ballerina, was crowned Season 29's winner, along with her partner, Artem Chigvintsev. "If you want a dream to come true, you have to be willing to work for it and go through all of the challenges and appreciate all the hard times to really feel the success," Kaitlyn told "Good Morning America" Tuesday. Artem, who recently welcomed his first child with Nikki Bella, said his "mindset was very different" this season, "especially because I am a dad now and I have a newborn son." Artem added, "I just felt like this was for him."
Chrissy Teigen, John Legend on learning to cope after their pregnancy loss
In the wake of the loss of their son, Jack, earlier this year, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are starting to "see beauty through the darkest clouds," Chrissy told People in a new interview published this week. "It's just been an incredible experience to see the outpouring of love from the internet and the handwritten cards we've gotten," she said. "We couldn't even walk through our house for a week — there were just too many flowers." This fall, Chrissy touched a cultural nerve with her posts from the hospital as she began to suffer pregnancy complications — and shared the experience in great detail on social media. According to John, the support the couple and their children, Miles, 2, and Luna, 4, are getting now comes from his wife's "courage" in sharing her story. "So many other families feel connected to us in a different way than they have before, and I think it was really powerful for her to do that." Adds Chrissy: "You learn how to cope with it. I am very proud to say that there's multiple different therapies I'm using to hopefully become the same person that I was, and I'm OK with that. I'm OK with allowing myself to have bad days and good days." The "Cravings" author also said she's developed more "empathy" when it comes to her online interactions. "I think it's never a bad thing to learn to be a better, kinder person," she explained. Though it was devastating to lose their son halfway through Chrissy's pregnancy, John said, "It's made me just appreciate what we have together — our family … I feel like it's made us stronger." Chrissy, meanwhile, is moving forward. "I have these two toddlers running around that need me and need me to be happy and give them hugs all day," she said. "I have a husband that needs love. I have people that just take such good care of me, and we're all going to get through this together." Chrissy and John are currently working with Ronald McDonald House Charities to help boost the organization's new $100 million #HereForRMHC campaign. As Chrissy told fans on Instagram on this week, McDonald's will make a $100 donation to the charity for each photo or video posted to Twitter, TikTok or Facebook using the #HereForRMHC hashtag .
Goldie Hawn reveals what really made her fall for Kurt Russell
For Goldie Hawn, working with her partner of 37 years, Kurt Russell, on their new film, "The Christmas Chronicles 2," was less like work and more like "a honeymoon," she said on the Monday, Nov. 23, edition of "Ellen." "And being together with him in the trailer in the morning getting made up together like the old days was just so fun." The upcoming Netflix holiday movie will be the first time Goldie, who just turned 75, and Kurt, 69, have worked together on-set since 1987's "Overboard." Looking back on their nearly four decades of love, Goldie added that what really made her fall for the actor was how good he was with her kids. "I remember about Kurt — not only being really sexy and handsome and all that stuff and fun and whatever, a good co-star — I loved the way he looked at my children. It was really something special," the actress said. "He's good at that. He's good with kids. I kind of went, 'Oh my God, this is amazing.'" "The Christmas Chronicles 2" hits Netflix on Thanksgiving Day.
Queen Elizabeth's Sandringham Estate launches a gin made with ingredients from her gardens
Feeling vicarious stress for the royal family after binge-watching Season 4 of "The Crown?" Perhaps a nip of gin straight out of the Queen's holiday getaway is in order. This week, Queen Elizabeth's country home at the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk launched a namesake gin made from ingredients grown in the monarch's very own gardens. Distilled locally in small batches, the new Sandringham Gin is made Sharon fruit grown in the estate's Walled Garden and features "foliage from myrtle plants also grown on the Estate [that] originated from a cutting taken from Princess Alexandra's wedding bouquet on her marriage to Prince Albert Edward, who later became King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra," according to the Sandringham Estate's website. The gin is actually the second edition of booze to come from Queen Elizabeth's residences; over the summer, Buckingham Palace launched an eponymous, small batch dry gin. The Sandringham version is currently selling for about $67, with sales limited to residents of the U.K.
