The internet can't stop laughing about Gwyneth Paltrow's Emmys stage walk
Oh, Gwyneth Paltrow. Where would the internet and all its sarcastic meme-makers be without you? At the Emmy Awards on Sunday, Sept. 22, Gwyneth took the stage in what People described as a "vintage 1963 Valentino Haute Couture gown" with "sleeves that extended into floor-length feathery appliqués" and "a white metallic column skirt." She paired the gown with towering heels that gave her a tiny bit of space between her shoes and the dress hem. It was a lovely outfit — it was also apparently near-impossible to walk normally in. So when Gwyneth began her very long, very slow, very daintily executed walk to the mic to announce "Killing Eve" star Jodie Comer as the winner of the 2019 Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, viewers could not contain their confusion, laughter and general bewilderment as the actress kept one arm firmly in place holding the dress up while the other swung softly as if to propel her towards her mark. "Going from my bed to my fridge wrapped up in the comforter," wrote one Twitter user, sharing a clip of the now infamous walk. "Sorry, sorry, sorry. I need to be HONEST," the user continued. "This is the exact way I move when I am heading to the bathroom but I don't want anyone to know it's an EMERGENCY." Other commented on the use of Stevie Wonder's "Superstitious" as the walk music, posting things like, "Gwyneth awkwardly walking to the tune of Superstition is surreal and sending me 💀." Others, of course, used the walk as an opportunity to joke about Gwyneth's lifestyle website Goop, which sells luxury sex toys including a $66 jade egg, among other things. Wrote one Twitter user: "Gwyneth Paltrow shuffling across the stage like she's trying not to drop the jade egg she's carrying between her legs."

Renee Zellweger: 'I don't remember much of my 30s'
After distancing herself from the public eye for a few years, Renee Zellweger is back and enjoying the pleasant hum of awards buzz thanks to her performance in the new Judy Garland biopic, "Judy." And as she said on "CBS Sunday Morning" over the weekend, she hopes she can live in the moment more than she was able to at the height of her career. Asked if she was "able to enjoy it" while jumping from one big film to the next — Renee made almost two major films a year for a stint — the actress mused: "I don't know. I don't remember much of my 30s. Sounds like a joke, but it's true. But it just feels compressed. It feels like it just happened like that. I didn't want that to happen again." She explained that the whole thing "was just going by too fast," which caused her to feel like she was "repeating herself," which made her, as she put it, "tired of myself." She's pretty sure she'll never tire of her Judy character, though. "I never want to put her away," she said when asked if it was "a hard character to put away" after a day of filming. Later in the interview, she described the "conjuring" she did every day while shooting "Judy," "just hoping that she'd understand what our intentions were." She added, "It was a love letter to her."

Terrence Howard elaborates on retirement announcement in out-there Emmys interview
Fans and reporters were left puzzled by Terrence Howard after the "Empire" star gave an out-there interview to KTLA on the red carpet at the Emmys on Sunday, Sept. 22. The radio station interviewer asked about Terrence's recent declaration that he's done with acting after "Empire." "You made huge headlines when you said, after you complete these 15 episodes of 'Empire,' you're going to walk away. For a while or forever?" the reporter said (via Decider.com). Terrence replied by saying that he's ignoring people's suggestions that he not retire permanently. Things got strange after that. "I've spent 37 years pretending to be people so that people can pretend to watch and enjoy what I'm doing when I've actually made some discoveries in my own personal life with science that Pythagoras was searching for," he said. "I was able to open up the flower of life properly and find the real wave conjugations that we've been looking for for 10,000 years. Why would I continue, you know, walking on water for tips when I've got an entire generation to teach a whole new world to?" When the reporter asked what he planned to do, Terrence responded with this: "Let me put it this way: all energy in the universe is expressed in motion. All motion is expressed in waves. All waves are curved. So where do the straight lines come from to make the platonic solids? There are no straight lines. So, when I took the flower of life and opened it properly, I found all new wave conjugations that exposed the in-between spaces that's — it's the thing that holds us all together." For those who may still be hoping for clarification, the actor also said he plans to explain his theory on Tuesday at his Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. "I'm going to be able to prove that gravity is only an effect and not a force," he said. "I'm putting something on YouTube where I will build the planet Saturn without gravity and build the Milky Way galaxy without gravity."

Sophie was up for an Emmy for her turn in "Game of Thrones," but ended up losing to Julia Garner, who took home a statue for her performance in "Ozark." "I am so proud of you. You are nominated for an Emmy!" Joe wrote to Sophie on his Instagram Story. "You are incredible," he added. "I love you."

Jimmy Fallon just turned 45 — and shared his birthday cake with a group of strangers. On Friday, Sept. 20, one day after his birthday, the "Tonight Show" host was celebrating with his wife, Nancy Juvonen, at the 1770 House in East Hampton, New York, when the restaurant surprised him with a cake. "It was an ice-cream cake, house-made by chef Michael Rozzi and inscribed 'Happy Birthday Jimmy,'" another restaurant-goer told Page Six. The snitch said that after "surrounding tables joined in singing 'Happy Birthday,'" Jimmy, "took a picture of the cake and shared his cake with fellow diners."
