The C word
Jeff Bridges took to Twitter on Oct. 19 to reveal that he's been diagnosed with lymphoma. "Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good," the Oscar-winning actor wrote of his cancer diagnosis. "I'm starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery." He added, "I'm profoundly grateful for the love and support from my family and friends." After Jeff's announcement, many of entertainment's biggest names voiced their support for him.
Cancel culture
The drama caused by those Lily James-Dominic West pictures from Oct. 11 continued this week. The actress, who was photographed getting cozy with her married "The Pursuit of Love" co-star in Rome, canceled multiple interviews to promote her new film "Rebecca" while dealing with the fallout. Lily's reps declined to have her sit down with "Today" and the BBC's "The Graham Norton Show." She also reportedly pulled out of a Hollywood Foreign Press Association event 45 minutes before it was supposed to start. A source told Us Weekly that the scandal has not only affected Dominic's relationship with his wife of 10 years, landscape designer Catherine Fitzgerald — with whom he's putting on a united front — but "has strained Lily and Dominic's working and personal relationship too." Lily did, however, still appear on "The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon" this week, but the host didn't ask or even hint at the scandal.

Block party
Emma Roberts blocked her mom on social media after she unwittingly revealed the actress's pregnancy a few months ago. The "American Horror Story" star recalled the story while speaking to late night host Jimmy Kimmel. According to the Emma, mom Kelly Cunningham recently signed up for Instagram and started interacting with Emma's fans as she learned to use the social media platform. Soon, fans started congratulating the grandma-to-be. The only problem? Emma hadn't yet publicly announced that she and boyfriend Garrett Hedlund were expecting, and Kelly didn't realize that when she confirmed the happy news in the comments section. "When I said to her, 'Mom, you revealed my pregnancy,' she goes, 'Emma, you announced it,'" Emma said. "I said, 'No, I didn't. That was a tabloid.' She's like, 'Oh, that wasn't clear.'" The two even got into a small fight over the incident. "I blocked her at one point. It was my only weapon," Emma said. "She texted me at 2 a.m., 'Queen, did you block me? Sad face.' I was like, 'Yes, I did block you.' Then I unblocked her. It's been an Instagram war with my mother that I never saw coming. A good story to tell the baby."
Rudy repercussions
Days ahead of its Oct. 23 release on Amazon Prime Video, Sacha Baron Cohen's "Borat Subsequent Moviefilm: Delivery of Prodigious Bribe to American Regime for Make Benefit Once Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan" was already making waves… which was bad news for Rudy Giuliani. The man once dubbed "America's Mayor" — who's currently President Donald Trump's personal lawyer — was caught on camera in an apparently compromising position in the film. Reports detailed a scene in which Rudy was seen talking to the actress playing Borat's daughter while she posed as a 15-year-old TV journalist. Following the faux interview, Rudy and the actress are seen in a hotel suite rigged with hidden cameras. Video shows Rudy lying back on the bed, fiddling with his untucked shirt and reaching his hand into his pants. Rudy has denied anything salacious happened — he claimed he was simply reclined to tuck in his shirt — but many stars skewered and mocked him. Conservative "The View" co-host Meghan McCain tweeted, "WHY IS EVERYTHING SO DISGUSTING?!?!!!" Josh Gad declared, "It's worse than you think and more uncomfortable than anything I've seen in a recent film, documentary or otherwise."
Surgery No. 3
"Cake Boss" star Buddy Valastro revealed he's undergone his third surgery on his injured right hand. "Hey guys, just had my third hand surgery. It's been a rough road to recovery but I'm hanging in there," he wrote on Instagram on Oct. 21. "Just wanted to check in and let you all know how much I appreciate all the love, we'll wishes, and positive vibes! Keep em coming!" Buddy's dominant hand was severely injured when it was impaled during an accident at his home bowling alley. He's unsure if he'll ever bake again.
Sexuality reveal
"Tiger King" star Carole Baskin has come out as bisexual. In an interview with Pink News published on Oct. 19, the "Dancing With The Stars" alum said, "I have always considered myself to be bisexual. Even though I've never had a wife, I could just as easily have a wife as a husband." Carole said that working with the LGBTQ+ community in the '80s made her realize she "had just as equal feelings for women as I did for men." She added, "As far as the way I feel about us, I think we are all one and I just don't see us as being different genders or different colors or anything."
Engagement ended
The rumors are true. Taraji P. Henson confirmed on Oct. 19 that she and former NFL star Kelvin Hayden have ended their engagement. While appearing on "The Breakfast Club," the "Empire" star spoke about the split. "I'm dedicated to the Black man, y'all. I just turned 50 and I mean, I hadn't said it yet, but it didn't work out," she said. "I tried. I was, like, therapy. Let's do the therapy thing, but if you're both not on the same page with that then you feel like, you're taking it on yourself, and that's not a fair position for anybody to play in a relationship." Fans began wondering about the status of Tarji and Kelvin's relationship last month when she celebrated her 50th birthday in Mexico without him. In Instagram images, she didn't appear to be wearing her engagement ring either.
Case continues
Danny Masterson's rape case will continue to move forward, a judge ruled on Oct. 19. The actor's team had tried getting the case thrown out, arguing that the allegations are too old to be prosecuted. The "That '70s Show" star is facing three counts of forcible rape from incidents that allegedly took place from 2001 to 2003. Danny is currently out on $3.3 million bail. The actor has yet to enter a plea but his lawyers have maintained his innocence. He will formally be arraigned in court on Nov. 2.
