Jennifer Lawrence spotted with some new bling on her left ring finger
Did Darren Aronofksy put a ring on it? When Jennifer Lawrence stepped out in Los Angeles on Thursday, Oct. 5, her left hand was almost dwarfed by the massive sparkler on her ring finger, prompting outlets like the Daily Mail to wonder if her director boyfriend had popped the question. Other publications, however, quickly cited the ring's costume jewelry vibe as reason enough to dismiss any engagement rumors. (The couple's age gap — he's 48 and she's 27 — might be worth taking those wedding bell whispers with a grain of salt, too.) J. Law and Darren reportedly started dating last year, and while they took months to confirm their romance, the pair's proclivity for PDA made the nature of their relationship pretty obvious.

Ryan Gosling opens up about his late dog, George
Hey, girl. Get your hanky ready. Ryan Gosling showed up to "Ellen" this week wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with a photo of his late dog, George. And then he made us weep. "He passed away in December. He was a good friend to me," the "Blade Runner 2049" star said of George when Ellen Degeneres asked about the backstory for the shirt (via ET). "It's funny to say 'dog' because I feel like there was something about George where I think he felt like being a dog was beneath him. He would not do tricks. If you wanted him even to sit down, you had to convince him it was in his best interest," Ryan continued. "One time we were at an outdoor restaurant and he was sitting on the pavement looking forlorn down the street. Someone got up to go to the restroom, and he, I guess, had had enough and he got up onto their seat and sat down at the table like a gentleman and looked around the table like, 'Yeah, that's right.'" As George got older, Ryan continued, "… he started looking like an aging rock star. He was sort of skinny fat and he had big hair, you know, no teeth, open sores, but still sexy." Finally, Ryan showed Ellen that the necklace he always wears has George's tags on it. Asked if he'll get another pet someday, Ryan shook his head, showing a definite "no," then said, "we'll see." Rest in peace, George.

Amal Clooney pals around with Isla Fisher in vintage Versace
Amal Clooney took a night off from double-mom duties on Thursday, Oct. 5, to hang out with some girlfriends at a party hosted by the William Vintage x Gianni Versace Archive Collection on Farfetch in the Beverly Hills section of Los Angeles. While posing for pics with the likes of Isla Fisher and Rachel Zoe, Amal looked stunning (what else is new?) in a shiny, vintage gold Versace shift dress. According to People, London-based William Vintage, noted for its world-renowned selection of haute couture vintage looks, is one of Amal's favorite shops. The slinky, meshy material she chose for the evening was the same fabric worn by Carla Bruni, Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen and Claudia Schiffer at the Milan Fashion Week tribute to Gianni Versace on the 20th anniversary of his death last month.
More rumors of budget drama over Katy Perry's salary hit 'Idol'
ABC continues to deny that Katy Perry's rumored $25 million salary created drama behind the scenes at the rebooted "American Idol." Multiple reports from the New York Post, however, tell a different story. This week, one insider told the tab the talent budget for the show was initially capped at $50 million before Lionel Richie came on board and allegedly demanded more than the initial offer, reportedly forcing the network to expand the show's budget. According to an ABC network source, the budget problems started with Katy's deal. "[EO/President] Ben Sherwood blew the budget on Katy without thinking how that would impact other areas of the show budget," said the insider. "He gambled on her because of her appeal to a younger audience and huge social-media following. But Katy is effectively taking money from the other judges, who then had to be paid way less." The source added, "The negotiations with Luke and Lionel have been fraught and difficult because of [Katy's paycheck]. They expected similar deals to Katy, but are, in fact, getting a hell of a lot less. In the end, ABC had to cough up a second round of money to sign the other judges." A spokesperson for ABC, meanwhile, maintained there has been no drama and no budget-tweaking in signing Lionel and Luke Bryan as judges after Katy was confirmed. "Ben never had to get involved," said the rep, "and the deals were done within the original ABC talent budget for the show."
JAY-Z, Beyonce, Blue Ivy Carter and the twins helicopter into NYC
At age 5, Blue Ivy Carter's already gone yachting around the island of Capri, toured Paris in Gucci dresses and checked out the beaches of Hawaii, so it should be no surprise that her twin brother and sister, Sir and Rumi, are already traveling by helicopter. On Wednesday, Oct. 4, TMZ spotted Beyonce and JAY-Z, along with the twins and Blue Ivy, arriving at a heliport in New York City. It may not have been the first chopper ride for the 3-month-old twins, either — the fam's new mansion in the Bel Air section of Los Angeles reportedly has its own helipad.
Brie Larson tweets about uncomfortable experience with a TSA agent
Just because a woman acts polite doesn't mean she wants to date ya, buddy. That's the lesson Brie Larson tried to teach folks on Twitter on Thursday, Oct. 5, after she shared an experience that made her feel uncomfortable. "I merely smiled at a TSA agent and he asked for my phone number. To live life as a woman is to live life on the defense," she wrote (via JustJared). The tweet got some negative feedback, with one user suggesting the TSA agent deserved a high five for trying to take her out. "And ur hundreds of miles away?" he tweeted. "Makes no sense. The fact he gave it a shot should be applauded. At least he had the guts to show interest." Brie replied by pointing out, "You do realize you're blaming me for a situation I did not ask to be in? A situation that made me uncomfortable?" As more chatter about the first tweet surfaced, Brie explained, "My recent tweets were an invitation to hear my experience as a woman, then asked, "Are you up to learning something that may challenge your current view?" She followed that up with a series of suggestions. "First step: listen. I don't need you explain why my experience is invalid. I need you to listen because I am not a liar and I have a soul," she wrote. "Second: ask questions. If you don't understand, believe in us enough to learn more. This can be challenging if our perspectives differ," she continued. "Third: speak from a place of love. Remember that we are (hopefully) just trying to make the world a safer place for all, Brie added before closing with, "Fourth: social media can broaden your world view. It can bring us together to learn. Don't miss this opportunity to grow in unexpected ways."
Whitney Cummings opens up about her eating disorder in new memoir
For most of her teenage years, comedian and "2 Broke Girls" co-writer Whitney Cummings basically lived on rice cakes, apples and non-fat yogurt. "I became irrationally terrified of fat," she writes in her new memoir, "I'm Fine … And Other Lies" (via People). The book details Whitney's long struggle with an eating disorder and body dysmorphia that rendered her gaunt — "I looked like the shadow of Jared Leto," she writes — and ill to the point where she was losing her hair. "It was as if I were looking in a funhouse mirror that makes your hips comically large. I literally could not see myself how others did," she writes. She goes on to describe how the disorder changed over time, morphing into a binge eating compulsion in which she'd sometimes find she'd eaten in her sleep. Finally, she got help and got healthy. Quips Whitney: "And even crazier… my hairbrush no longer looked like Chewbacca."
Angelina Jolie gets a sapphire named after her
Actress, director, humanitarian and mom Angelina Jolie has one more accomplishment to add to her resume. Later this month, jeweler and frequent Angie collaborator Robert Procop is set to unveil what he says is the world's largest star sapphire. Its name? "Star of Jolie." Forbes reports the 888.88-carat gem sits on the 18k rose gold pendant of a necklace embedded with 70 black star sapphires. The piece will go on tour, making stops in Southern California and the Coachella Valley before it lands at the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C. It reportedly retails for a cool $5 mil.
Sheryl Crow sounds off on gun control laws
Like many other Americans, Sheryl Crow is frustrated and angry in the wake of the mass shooting in Las Vegas, where one man murdered 58 people and injured hundreds more at a country music festival. TMZ caught up with the singer this week to ask if she expects the country community to bounce back from the horrific incident. "We have to do something about gun laws, unequivocally," Sheryl said. "If we don't … our government should be fired, I'm sorry, it's just irresponsible." Asked if she thinks we'll see a change in the association between gun culture and the country genre," Sheryl said she hopes so, then added, "I think it's infringing on the rights of all people if a few people are allowed to have semi-automatic weapons."
All proceeds from Lin-Manuel Miranda's new single slated for relief efforts in Puerto Rico
After lashing out at Donald Trump over his slow response to the hurricane disaster in Puerto Rico, Lin-Manuel Miranda is getting pro-active about helping the devastated U.S. territory. This week, he released an all-star packed single, "Almost Like Praying," to raise money for The Hispanic Federation's disaster relief fund, according to the New York Post. "I was like every Puerto Rican with ties to the island, with family on the island. We all had a terrible few days of silence. For some, those days were weeks," Miranda told the AP in a recent interview. "For me, that helplessness turned into, 'OK, well what can I write that will help? Can I write a tune that we can monetize?'" Guests on the track include Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Camila Cabello, Gloria Estefan, Fat Joe, Luis Fonsi, John Leguizamo and Rita Moreno.
