Jessica Simpson shares new details about her divorce from Nick Lachey
In her new memoir, "Open Book," Jessica Simpson shies away from nothing, sharing candid and in many cases difficult memories about her past, from the revelation that she got sober in 2017 after a battle with alcohol and stimulants to the sexual abuse she endured as a little girl. The singer turned businesswoman also opens up about her most public romances, including her marriage to Nick Lachey, which made her a household name in the early 2000s when they appeared on the reality show, "Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica." In her book, Jessica reveals she met the 98 Degrees singer at a Christmas party in 1998 and knew he was The One — or so she thought. '"Hi I'm Nick," he said. Hello, my life. I thought," she writes (via The Blast). Explaining the nature of their attraction, Jessica says, "Nick loved the fact that I was so strong in my faith and that I had this wide-eyed innocent approach to life." They got engaged in 2002 but as she tells her readers, they soon fell victim to career-related anxiety. "We had been together almost seven years when I told Nick, 'I think I want a divorce,'" she recalls. Referencing a quote from Nick she saw in the press at the time in which he said he was "blindsided" by the split, she said that seemed off to her. "At that point we were not even speaking to each other. Maybe he was just shocked that I stood up for myself. I don't think he ever thought I would take the leap," she muses. Jessica went on to marry Eric Johnson, with whom she's currently happy and raising three children. But as she explains in "Open Book," the divorce took a toll on multiple levels. Because they had no prenup, she says she was forced to fork over $12 million to Nick, who earned less while they were together. "Open Book" hits shelves Feb. 4.

Brad Pitt was 'blissfully naive' about reactions to his SAG reunion with ex, jennifer Aniston
As far as Brad Pitt's concerned, the Internet is welcomed to lose its collective mind over his SAG Awards reunion with his ex-wife, Jennifer Aniston. SJP reveals who she thinks Carrie should have ended up with on 'Sex and the City'
Even Sarah Jessica Parker struggled with whether her "Sex and the City" character, Carrie Bradshaw, should end up with Big (Chris Noth) or Aidan (John Corbett) during the long run of the show. But as she said on the "Bradshaw Boys" podcast during a call-in appearance this week, she ultimately knew in her heart where Carrie should land. "As you can imagine, this puts me in a terrible position," she said when asked to choose (via ET). "There is a very quick and simple answer. You have to be Team Big or Team John (Big's real name). I guess, only because you can't tell a story that long and not in the most conventional way kind of root for that ending. And I love Chris Noth so much, and it felt wonderfully and skillfully written by Michael Patrick [King]." In perfect Carrie fashion, she then flip-flopped the other way: "But I love John Corbett so much and I loved Aidan. I loved his Aidan," she said. "The best of both worlds is in fact having your cake and eating it too. So I feel like I got both teams." So …? "Ultimately, Carrie should have ended up with Big," SJP said, "… but it was a delight to mess around before she arrived at that."
John Boyega shares footage of the emotional moment when he gave his parents a new house
Now that he's made it to the big leagues, John Boyega is relishing his success by sharing it with two A-listers who mean more than anyone to him — his parents. On Instagram this week, the "Star Wars" actor shared a video clip that showed his parents coming to what they thought was an interview about the son. "I just bought my mum and dad a house," he says in the clip (via E! News). "I've always wanted to do that." When his parents walk into the London home where they've been told the interview will be filmed, John announces: "I'm here to tell you, there's no interview. That was a lie. This is your new house. It belongs to you." He goes on to say he'd been working on the purcahse for months, then thanks them for supporting him his whole life. As he hugs his father, John's dad is visibly moved and wipes away his tears. "Moments like these make all the hard work worth it," John wrote alongside the clip. He told ET about the gift back in 2017 but this was the first time he showed footage of the emotional moment he gave it to his parents.
Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos' son broke his nose while wrestling
"You win some, you lose some, and sometimes you get a tampon shoved up your nose." That's how proud wrestling parent Kelly Ripa captioned a photo of her 16-year-old son, Joaquin, on Instagram, after he competed in the Mayor's Cup tournament in New York City over the weekend. On the Wednesday, Jan. 23, edition of "Live with Kelly and Ryan," the co-host revealed that Joaquin broke his nose in the ring — and neither she nor her husband Mark Consuelos even knew it had happened at first. "He took a knee to the nose," she told Rynan (via People). Ultimately, she said "he was fine" — he'd been wrestling a close friend, apparently — but he did get hurt badly enough that a medic rushed out to check on him. "From our point of view, it looked like he got poked in the eye," she said. "I was like, 'I get it, that hurts, sometimes your eye won't open.' But we were like, 'OK, Joaquin, for heaven's sakes, pull yourself together.' And I was saying, 'See? He's an actor.' Because he was [covering his face]. It was very dramatic!" That's when she noticed the team helping him was "rubbing" something. "What we don't know that we can't see is that he's bleeding and they're wiping the blood off of him," she continued. In the end, though, Joaquin won the match. "Did you know that when you break your nose while you're wrestling, that they put tampons up there?" Kelly asked Ryan. "I guess the doctor looked at him and said, 'Put two tampons up there and call me in the morning.'" Nothing like having your mom discuss your tampon-nose on national TV while making corny jokes …
