Kanye West says he spent 'every dollar I had' on Sunday Services in 2019
In a new interview with Nick Cannon, Kanye West makes more controversial statements about everything from his religious and political beliefs to his infamous Taylor Swift feud. "God brought me to my knees multiple times," he says at one point, according to Complex. "You know, god has a calling on all of us and he uses us in different ways." From Kanye's perspective, he's being "used by God" to voice God's beliefs. "I was snubbed by a magazine," he said in reference to Forbes, which failed to include him in its billionaires issue initially. "But I was recognized by God," he continues. "I would do Sunday Service and there would be atheists who would come and tell me, 'Well, maybe you shouldn't mention Jesus' name so much.' And that's all I need to hear. I was like 'Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!' Thank you for inciting the riot." The rapper and designer goes on to claim that in 2019, he spent a whopping $50 million on his gospel music filled Sunday Services. "I spent every dime that I have from marketing from Yeezy on Sunday Service," Kanye asserted. "Every dollar I had. I spent $50 million last year on Sunday Service." But that loss apparently has nothing to do with his current presidential bid; 'Ye also denied claims his "Birthday Party" campaign is being paid for by the Republican Party as a way of pulling votes away from Joe Biden. Besides, he says, "I got more money than Trump."

Lizzo was originally supposed to be in Cardi B's 'WAP' video
The world narrowly missed out on what could have been a pretty amazing cameo in Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion's "WAP" video — and that's Lizzo. Turns out Cardi wanted the singer in the record-breaking video from the beginning. Speaking to Hot 97 recently (via Page Six), Cardi explained that she and Lizzo had been DMing each other ahead of the video shoot. When it came time to film, though, Lizzo was out of town on vacation. "I was like, 'Oh my gosh,' because I had a whole vision about how I want to see Lizzo and everything," Cardi recalled. While she wasn't able to get Lizzo into the video, Cardi did include Kylie Jenner, Normani and Doja Cat, all of whom were chosen with an eye to diversity and representation. "It was so important to me to include different women that are different races and come from different backgrounds, but are so powerful and influential," Cardi added.

Big Sean admits he regrets Naya Rivera breakup track
After Big Sean and Naya Rivera split back in April 2014, Sean released "IDFWU," which was assumed by fans to have been a dis track. That's not exactly how he meant it to be taken, though. Asked recently if he now regrets having recorded something negative about Naya, who stunned fans and loved ones when she died in a lake accident this summer, Sean admitted he struggles with the song's existence, given Naya's death, but said the two spoke about the song. "That's a tough question to answer because I'm still processing a lot of that … I don't feel comfortable talking about it because I want to respect her," he told Vulture in a new interview (via Uproxx). "She's made such an impact on people, and she's done so many great things in her life and her career that it was hurtful to even have that [song] be associated with her." He cautioned that it "wasn't a dis track," though. "I truly made the song and played it for her," he shared. "She knew about it, and she liked it. We had a breakup that was very public, and we were young and we forgave each other and moved on from that. If I would have known something this tragic would have happened, I would have never made the song."

So what's the name Lyra all about? As Refinery29 reminds us, the name Lyra is implicitly musical, thanks to its root, "lyre," which was the first musical instrument, according to Greek mythology. Created by Hermès, Apollo gave the lyre to his son Orpheus, the story goes. After Orpheus died, Zeus is said to have thrown it into the sky, thereby creating the constellation, Lyra. Other outlets seem more convinced Lyra's named after the heroine in the Philip Pullman book series, "His Dark Materials," which Ed has said on Twitter is among his favorites. The Daily Mail, meanwhile, claims Ed and Cherry's choice of Antarctica as a middle name could mean that's where Lyra was conceived.

For Robin Williams' widow, Susan Schneider Williams, losing her husband to an illness he didn't know he had makes the pain of his death even harder to bear. In a Tuesday appearance on "Today," Susan recalled the progression of Robin's Lewy body dementia, a brain disease that altered his thinking, memory and ability to control his movement that eventually sparked him to take his own life in 2014 at age 63. Despite the disease being common, Robin's doctors missed it in the comic. "Robin and I knew there was so much more going on," said Susan, who recently released "Robin's Wish," a documentary about Robin's struggle with the illness. "Robin was right when he said to me, 'I just want to reboot my brain,'" she continued (via People). "In that moment, I promised him that we would get to the bottom of this. I just didn't know that would be after he passed." Thinking back to one of the most difficult moments in Robin's struggle, Susan shared that doctors had them sleep separately so he could get more rest as he battled insomina. "He said to me, 'Does this mean we're separated?'" she said. "That was a really shocking moment. When your best friend, your partner, your love — you realize that there's a giant chasm somewhere, and you can't see where it is but that's just not based in reality. That was a hard moment."
Johnny Depp wants to push back Amber Heard civil trial
Johnny Depp has requested a change of plans in his defamation case against Amber Heard. On Tuesday, USA Today reported the actor's legal team asked to reschedule the trial so it won't conflict with the production schedule for Depp's next "Fantastic Beasts" film, which was pushed back because of the coronavirus pandemic. In documents filed Aug. 21, Depp's lawyers asked to delay the trial in Fairfax County, Virginia, from Jan. 11, to "sometime between March and June 2021," according to the outlet. Depp is suing Heard in a civil case pegged to her 2018 Washington Post op-ed, which strongly implied Depp was the perpetrator in her experience with domestic violence. The actor has denied those claims, saying she was the abuser in the relationship, an allegation Head has denied. Depp is asking for $50 million in damages. The trial comes on the heels of his libel trial against the publisher of The Daily Mail this summer, where Heard testified.

Demi Lovato has a new plan in mind for her seventh studio album. The newly engaged singer recently sat down with USA Today and shared an update on her creative output during the pandemic. "I'm in the process of working on [the next album," she said, adding that she was heading into the studio to work on it later that day. "It took a different direction. Obviously, my life has changed a lot. It was a story about everything that had happened, and now it's kind of evolving into where my life is at today," Demi mused. "It's beautiful to have your story to tell and I'm excited to incorporate that into my next project. I don't have a timeline but I'm working on it." Demi, who's also been busy advocating for the Black Lives Matter movement, got engaged to actor Max Ehrich earlier this year.

Monday, Aug. 31, marked the 23rd anniversary of Princess Diana's death, a milestone her son, Prince Harry, and his wife, Duchess Meghan, honored with a visit to The Assistance League of Los Angeles' Preschool Learning Center. According to the Daily Mail, the couple planted forget-me-nots — Diana's favorite flower — and read books about gardening, veggies and nutritious eating with the kids. Forget-me-nots also appeared in Meghan's wedding bouquet as a memorial to Diana, who died in a car crash at age 36 while being hounded by paparazzi. The Sussexes are now living in Santa Barbara, California, having stepped back from their senior royal roles at the beginning of the year.

As stories of widespread discomfort and toxicity on the set of "Ellen" continue to surface, Mariah Carey addressed her 2008 appearance on the show, when Ellen DeGeneres pressured her to confirm she was pregnant. "I can't believe you did this to me Ellen," Mariah says in a clip from episode (via E! News), which shows the host trying to give Mariah champagne to see if she'll refuse to drink it, thereby confirming the pregnancy. "Let's toast to you not being pregnant if you're not pregnant," Ellen tells the singer. "I was extremely uncomfortable with that moment is all I can say," Mariah told Vulture in an interview published Monday. "And I really have had a hard time grappling with the aftermath. I wasn't ready to tell anyone because I had had a miscarriage. I don't want to throw anyone that's already being thrown under any proverbial bus, but I didn't enjoy that moment." Ellen came under fire this spring after being accused on a podcast of being the opposite of the "kind," nice person she appears to be in the show. Following an investigation into allegations of intimidation and even racism and sexual misconduct, multiple producers exited, and Ellen reportedly apologized to her staff and promised things would be different going forward.

Following a massive post that featured 134 images of Romeo through the years — including pics of the whole family enjoying a rainbow birthday cake with Romeo — Victoria wrote on Instagram, "Happy 18th birthday @romeobeckham…. David chimed in separately, telling his son on Instagram: "Happy 18th to my little man ( or not so little anymore).
