Katy Perry tells a 3-year-old fan what excites her most about the prospect of motherhood
Just a few weeks before her due date, mom-to-be Katy Perry sat down with People to take questions from some of the magazine's tiniest readers. Concerned their adorableness might unleash her emotions, she warned, "I'm very hormonal!" at one point before answering video queries from a group of kids. After admitting to a fan named Peyton that she had not, in fact, shot the video for "Roar" in a "real jungle" ("it was an arboretum," she said, "…but I got to meet so many incredible animals"), a 3-year-old named Madison asked what Katy is most excited about when it comes to being a mom. "Oh, I might cry. I'm gonna cry!" Katy gulped. "Oh gosh, it really got real for a second. It's like, I'm gonna have one of those!" she said, pointing at Madison on a screen. "The unconditional love?! The sweetness, the cuteness, the tenderness, the softness … I'm so excited about having a girl," she continued. Katy and her fiance, Orlando Bloom, are expecting their first child together this summer. The singer's also preparing to release her new studio album, "Smile," due out Aug. 28.

George and Amal Clooney donate $100k to Lebanese charities
In the wake of the explosions in Beirut that killed more than 130 people and injured many thousands more Tuesday, George Clooney and Amal Clooney, who was born in the Lebanese city, are making a large donation to support relief efforts there. "We're both deeply concerned for the people of Beirut and the devastation they've faced in the last few days," the couple said in a statement published by People. "Three charitable organizations we've found are providing essential relief on the ground: the Lebanese Red Cross, Impact Lebanon, and Baytna Baytak. We will be donating $100,000 to these charities and hope that others will help in any way they can." Amal, a human rights lawyer, left Lebanon for England when she was just 2. The Clooneys' charity recommendations come after Halsey tweeted out a request for help determining how to best support to those in need following the explosions, which have reportedly left a quarter of a million people homeless.

Cardi B talks Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump
It was a busy Friday for Cardi B, who spent the morning giving on-air interviews to promote her new Megan Thee Stallion collaboration. The rapper and Bernie Sanders fan, who frequently talks politics on social media and has interviewed Sanders at least twice, also touched on the upcoming presidential election. Asked about Sanders' decision to drop out of the race, Cardi told SiriusXM's Swaggy Sie that she was frustrated when people seemed surprised the Vermont Senator didn't make it further along. "Why? Because of y'all!" she exclaimed, according to JustJared."Because you know how this new generation is. We be loving something but we just be lazy to do it …" Cardi added that if Donald Trump stays in office she'll probably "have a mental breakdown" over the "state of the country." She continued: "Not only do I care about the people, but it's like I am afraid of the future … I don't want an another war … people are not making money … this coronavirus [stuff] … I want it to be over but I don't want people to lie to me…God forbid that my grandparents, somebody gets sick." Cardi elaborated on her support for Joe Biden when she checked in with Sirius XM's "Sway in the Morning." "It's either, like, we go with Joe Biden or Donald Trump," she said, according to Billboard. "I'd rather go with Joe Biden. I have spoken to Joe Biden before. I think he gets it. I don't know if it's sympathize, but I think that he understands what we want. I think he understands that what we want are simple things, you know what I'm saying? We're not asking for much …" She added that when she spoke to the presumptive Democratic nominee, she told him her generation is "just tired" of "fake promises," and that she's "just ready to see a change."

Alicia Keys is launching a beauty line inspired by her 'personal skincare journey'
Back in 2016, Alicia Keys wrote an essay in Lena Dunham's Lenny newsletter about her breakup with makeup, explaining, "… I don't want to cover up anymore. Not my face, not my mind, not my soul, not my thoughts, not my dreams, not my struggles, not my emotional growth. Nothing." Since then, the 15-time Grammy Award winner has gone either makeup-free or minimal for most public appearances, focusing on keeping her skin healthy instead. Now, she's preparing to share some of what she learned about skincare through that process with the world. This week, e.l.f. Beauty announced it's teamed up with Alicia to launch a "lifestyle beauty brand" featuring, "skin-loving, dermatologist-developed, cruelty-free products" that reflect the singer's own "skincare journey," according to CNN. While Alicia has yet to share details about the line, her makeup artist, who goes by one name, Dotti, spilled the tea a few years back about how she keeps the singer looking fantastic without gobs of makeup. At the time, Dotti told W magazine that for Alicia, she relies on jade rollers that she freezes before using, cucumber pulp she applies to Alicia's face, pure jojoba oil and masques, along with the occasional glow enhancer and shine reducer.
Kristen Wiig opens up about her 'long' and 'difficult' road to motherhood
"I wasn't myself for years." That's how Kristen Wiig sums up her experience with IVF before she and her fiance Avi Rothman opted to use a surrogate. Today, the couple are parents to 9-month-old twins thanks to that decision. But as the "SNL" alum tells InStyle in its latest cover story, it was "a very long" and emotionally taxing road to motherhood. "We've been together for about five years, and three of them were spent in an [in vitro fertilization] haze," says Kristen, 46. "Emotionally, spiritually and medically, it was probably the most difficult time in my life. I wasn't myself." She goes on to describe the emotional experience of waiting for test results that repeatedly turned out to be "bad news." Negative test results, in turn, were "hard not personalize," she adds. "There was a lot of stress and heartache," she says of the treatment, which involved giving herself painful hormone shots, occasionally in random locations like "airplane bathrooms and at restaurants." Kristen did find support in what she describes as an "underground community" of others who were going through the same thing. After initially rejecting the idea of a surrogate, Kristen says the couple "found the amazing" one. It wasn't all smooth sailing after that. "I was over the moon feeling them kick for the first time, but then I would get in my head and ask myself all these questions, like, 'Why couldn't I do this?'" she recalls. But the actress learned to shelve those worries and focus on the "greatest gift" she and Avi were being given in the twins. The pair kept the baby news under wraps at first. Now, though, Kristen wants to "find that space where I can keep my privacy and also be there for someone else who may be going through" IVF or using a surrogate. "I've always believed that things happen the way they're supposed to happen, and this is how [our babies] were supposed to get here. I became really close with our surrogate, and it was her first time doing it so we kind of went through everything together," she says. "Ultimately, I realized that I'm very fortunate," she adds. "I'm grateful. I'm a different person now." Kristen returns to the big screen this fall as Wonder Woman's nemesis in the upcoming "Wonder Woman 1984."
The 'Friends' reunion won't shoot in August, after all: Report
Information about the pandemic-delayed "Friends" reunion is changing almost as quickly as information about the coronavirus itself. Just hours after Deadline reported the show would be going into production this month, quoting a partner from the production company handling the project, the outlet back peddled on that timeline. It seems HBO Max "distanced itself" from the August start date, with a source "familiar with the matter" telling Deadline the filming date is TBD again. Earlier this year, Lisa Kudrow told THR the cast isn't interested in a virtual version of the reunion. "We haven't all been in the same room in front of people — I mean, we have privately once many years ago but that's it," she said at the time. "The whole point of this is to be in the same room. That hasn't changed." The special, which also features original cast members Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer, was originally scheduled to film in March.
Kanye West responds to allegations his White House bid is a ploy to get Trump reelected
Amid reports Kanye West's presidential campaign is getting help from key Republicans, possibly to draw votes away from Joe Biden, Kanye responded to a direct question from Forbes about the theory. In a "text interview," the outlet asked directly if the rapper's campaign was meant to help reelect Donald Trump, since Kanye won't be on enough ballots at this point to get the 270 electoral votes he'd need to win. "I'm not going to argue with you," he replied to the reporter. "Jesus is King." He went on to cite examples suggesting he's still in close contact with the president, depsite having claimed he no longer supports him. "I'm meeting with Betsy DeVos about the post-Covid curriculum," he said at one point in the interview. Trump played it similarly coy this week when asked why his supporters were helping Kanye with paperwork and legal assistance. "I like Kanye very much," the president said at a White House briefing. "No, I have nothing to do with him getting on the ballot. We'll have to see what happens," he added.
Oprah Winfrey installs 26 'justice for Breonna Taylor' billboards around Louisville
Oprah Winfrey is using more of her media might to push for justice for Breonna Taylor, the 26-year-old EMT who was killed by police in her home in Kentucky in March. TMZ reports Oprah is erecting 26 billboards in Breonn'a hometown of Louisville, Kentucky. Each one features the image of Breonna that graces the latest O magazine cover and reads, "Demand that the police involved in killing Breonna Taylor be arrested and charged." The 26 billboards reportedly represent the 26 years Breonna lived before police entered her home with a "no-knock warrant," while looking for a suspect in a drug-related crime that they believed had ties to her address. (The suspect had reportedly been taken into custody earlier that day.) Only one of the three officers involved in shooting Breonna, Brett Hankison, has been fired. No one has been charged in her death. As of Friday, the billboards were expected to be up by Monday.
Jared Leto deletes post confirming he'll play Andy Warhol
Jared Leto has confirmed he's set to play Andy Warhol after years of rumors about a biopic on the late artist. Sort of. On Thursday, the 30 Seconds to Mars singer posted on Instagram, "Yes it's true I will be playing Andy Warhol in an upcoming film. And so grateful and excited about the opportunity," according to PinkNews. He added, "Happy birthday Andy," in a nod to what would have been Warhol's 92nd birthday. "We miss you and your genius." The post, however, has since been deleted — possibly because of the potential backlash the straight star could face for taking on the role of a gay man. Jared's no stranger to that kind of criticism, either. He was slammed by members of the LGBTQ community for playing a trans woman in 2013's "Dallas Buyers Club," a performance that earned him an Oscar.
Hoda Kotb celebrates her birthday early with a nod to her daughters
Hoda Kotb's 56th birthday kicked off a few days early on Friday, thanks to her "Today" show colleagues. The on-air celebration started with Jenna Bush Hager presenting Hoda with a crown, followed by a mini-trip down memory lane for the journalist. Asked to "think about what's happened" in the past year, Hoda told Jenna how important her kids and fiance are to her. "Joel and I got engaged this year, within this last year we had Hope step in our lives, and we have Haley," she said, according to People. "I just believe if you wonder and you're wondering about your time in life, some people get their blessings in their 20s, and some people get theirs in their 30s and 40s. And some people wait until their 50s, maybe even their 60s, or even beyond. But when they come, they come. And there's something about getting them later, because you can't believe it. And that's kind of how I feel." Hoda turns 56 on Sunday.
