Kelly Ripa jokes about 'root watch' as she shelters in place in NYC
Kelly Ripa took care of her "acute Botox deficiency" last week, posting a jokey update from her dermatologist's office. Alas, her hairstylist won't be getting a similar shoutout anytime soon. With New York City on near-total lockdown on Sunday, March 22, the "Live!" host shared a selfie on her Instagram Story of her hair, sans color touch-up. "Root watch week one," she joked in the caption (via Page Six). Like a growing number of states, New York is now under orders to stay at home except for essential needs such as grocery or pharmacy trips, etc. As COVID-19 cases continue to expand across the country, state and local governments have tightened restrictions on residents' movement even more in the past few days. Kelly's moment of levity aside, she and her husband Mark Consuelos are clearly taking the pandemic seriously. The New York Post reports the couple has donated $1 million to relief efforts so far, earmarking funds for ventilator purchases via the New York Governor's Office and WIN, which works to shelter homeless families in New York City.

Why Kendall Jenner is confused about Kylie Jenner's throwback post
Kylie Jenner isn't letting a global pandemic — or her sister's bad memories — keep her from boasting about her own selfies. Over the weekend, Kylie shared a photo of herself with Kendall Jenner, writing "throwback" in the caption. Comments By Celebs noticed Kendall's response — "aren't we fighting?" — as well as Kylie's answer. "Yes," she said, "but my …" [insert PG-13 rated word for Kylie's chest] "… are sitting nice in this pic." The funny banter sparked their sister Khloe Kardashian to chime in, too. "I miss us," she wrote. Khloe's comment, E! News notes, was likely sparked by the Kardashian-Jenner family's decision to self-quarantine, which Kylie joked she was all for since she learned how to do it when she was pregnant. "Towards the end of my pregnancy helicopters would fly over my house every day so I was scared to even go outside" she posted on March 18. "But it was my choice to do that so I never let myself get bored. I watched movies, I read books. I would do full spa days and take long baths." To be fair, so would we — if we lived in Kylie's mansion and had a billion dollars to spare!

Johnny Depp's libel trial delayed amid pandemic
Last week, it seemed possible Johnny Depp and Amber Heard would have to face off in court in London, given the Monday, March 23 trial date for the actor's libel case against the publisher of British tab, The Sun, which called him a "wife-beater" amid Amber Heard's allegations the actor abused her while they were married. The Guardian has since reported the judge opted to adjourn for now due to the COVID-19 pandemic. "Mr. Depp has spent years seeking justice. The Judge hearing Mr. Depp's defamation case against the Sun raised safety and practicality concerns. Although the case is extremely important to Mr. Depp, he was also uneasy about putting anyone else in harm's way for the sake of it," a lawyer for Depp said in a statement, according to Billboard. An attorney for the publisher told Thr Guardian he believes Depp wanted to delay the trial, "not because of the coronavirus, but because he cannot face the prospect of his lies about his relationship being exposed because he's a coward and because he knows he's going to lose."
Cardi B urges fans not to be xenophobic about coronavirus
Rapper, Bernie Sanders fan and, at a time when social media is providing most of our collective social life/ evening entertainment, national treasure, Cardi B shared a few new thoughts on the viral pandemic in the past few days. In a recent Instagram Live session, she asked fans to maintain a sense of unity when it comes to COVID-19, since the disease is prevalent in most countries at this point. "Let's stop being xenophobic. Let's stop saying f—ed up jokes. Let's stop having crazy anger because I've been seeing a lot of Asians get beat up and all that s—," she told viewers (via Billboard). "Let's all be one race," she added. "Because at the end of the day — in the eyes of God — we're all one. People make certain white jokes that be xenophobic, but it be so harmless. When people represent a country, I feel like that's not right to do. Because let's ask ourselves this, do we really want beef? Do we really want smoke with China?" Cardi's comments came on the heels of Donald Trump's references to the illness as the "Kung Flu" or "Chinese Virus." The rapper has also been demanding to know what the government is doing to keep her and her family safe as the outbreak continues to expand. "Are y'all spraying s— in the street, are y'all gonna one by one take our temperature to see if we got it? How am I supposed to know that I have the Coronavirus?" she posted on Instagram on Saturday, March 21 (via the Daily Mail). "When they put Wuhan, China in quarantine… they were spraying s— in the streets. They were knocking on each door taking people's temperature," she asserted. "Let's say that I have the coronavirus right now, ok? How am I supposed to know I got it!? Because sometimes I be like 'if you have a cough you have it.' But then I be seeing these basketball players who say, like, 'Yeah, I have the coronavirus, but I don't got no symptoms.' So, how the f— am I supposed to know when I am supposed to, like, get tested for it?" Finally, she begged for more clarification, saying, "That's my problem right there. Y'all ain't really saying what it is! Tell me what it IS and what it AIN'T!"
Chrissy Teigen responds to Donald Trump's coronavirus test gripe with explicit details about childbirth
In the wake of Donald Trump's recent complaint about the coronavirus swab test being "unpleasant," noted anti-Trumper Chrissy Teigen would like to remind the president about the not-so-pleasant experience women all over the world endure in the interest of bringing new life into the world. She, um, used less polite terms. "My vagina was ripped to my a—— giving birth to Luna," she tweeted in response to Trump's post (via ET). "I had a vaga——, she continued, inventing new words for the painful experience. Not that she was done there. "F— your swab pain," she continued. "They had to put a garbage bag at the end of the bed to collect my blood before stitching me up, where I then had to pee using a water bottle as a pain fountain for three months. So yeah, the swab, I bet it's super rough." Conveniently, Chrissy's response also works as a friendly reminder to unattached social distancers around the world that celibacy might not be so bad after all …
Daniel Dae Kim credits the Trump-touted anti-malaria drug with his COVID-19 recovery
Former "Lost" star Daniel Dae Kim is starting to recover after testing positive for COVID-19 and he credits his condition's improvement with the controversial anti-malaria drug Donald Trump has talked up. Calling hydroxychloroquine his "secret weapon," the 51-year-old said on Instagram over the weekend that he believes the drug was "critical" in getting him "practically back to normal" shortly after his diagnosis. "Yes, this is the drug that the President mentioned the other day," he said in a video (via Page Six), adding "I am feeling better." He went on to warn, "I won't say this is a cure and I won't say definitively that you should go out and use it, but what I will say is that I believe it was crucial to my recovery," joking, "Obviously I am not a doctor, nor am I a lawyer — though I have played them on TV." Daniel, who lives in South Korea, also admitted that he'd like to take another test "for peace of mind" but "there just aren't enough tests," which he said "mystifies" him given the months-long "head start" his country had in getting ready for the outbreak. As of Sunday, March 22, Daniel expected to be done with his quarantine by Monday.
SJP shares an update on Matthew Broderick's sister's health
There's been some backlash around the fact that celebrities, athletes and politicians seem to have less trouble getting tested for the coronavirus than their less famous counterparts, but there's also a silver lining. While we mostly only hear of new confirmed cases or deaths, celebs and their family members have been sharing updates on their recoveries that have been somewhat easier to spot. Matthew Broderick's sister, Rev. Janet Broderick, is a case in point. The 64-year-old landed in isolation in a Los Angeles intensive care unit after testing positive for COVID-19 and developing pneumonia, according to Page Six. On March 14, Matthew told Deadline his sister was "on the road to a full recovery." Over the weekend, Matthew's wife Sarah Jessica Parker shared another update with a fan on Instagram. "She is better. She was very sick," SJP told the commenter. "Home from the hospital now. Recovering. Thank you for asking. X," she added.
