Kim Kardashian shows off new, low-key bling amid robbery arrest news
As French police work to determine whether the 16 suspects they arrested early Monday, Jan. 9, are guilty of robbing Kim Kardashian West at gunpoint in Paris last year, Kim's still taking no chances on the jewelry front. In a Snapchat video she posted over the weekend, the star's neck is free of the $7 million bling she wore routinely before the robbery. Instead, she can be seen wearing a simple gold name chain emblazoned with the word, "Calabasas." According to TMZ, her stylist got it for her at XIV Karats, where similar pieces sell for about $500. Meanwhile, a source in Paris tells the website those suspected of helping rob Kim of $10 million worth of jewelry were nabbed in "coordinated raids at 6 a.m." at "at addresses in greater Paris and in the Gard department." The insider added, "The oldest suspect is 72, while others are in their 50s and 60s. All are well known to the police."

Selena Gomez and Maluma are their fans' dream couple
Selena Gomez's Instagram followers are playing matchmaker. After she and Colombian singer Maluma followed one another on Instagram over the weekend, fans hopped on social media to push for a romance between the two. "Can @maluma and @selenagomez get marry already? You guys would make the cutest babies and songs ever tbh " tweeted one music lover (via E! News). "@selenagomez @maluma can't believe it" wrote another, sharing the alert that Maluma is now following Selena. And while they probably would be cute together, it seems more likely that they're simply collaborating on music. Among the posts Maluma's liked so far is a picture of Selena's hand holding a microphone above the caption, "Vente pa' ca," the name of a song Maluma recorded with Ricky Martin. E! News suggests a Selena-helmed remix could be in the works.

Here's what happens to actors' faces when one a colleague gets self-congratulatory while discussing an international humanitarian crisis. In this case, the colleague in question was Tom Hiddleston. While accepting his Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Mini-Series or TV Motion Picture, Tom prattled on about how he was doing humanitarian work in South Sudan once when some aid workers "wanted to say hello because during the shelling the previous month they had binge watched the 'Night Manager.'" It was around that point when Christian Slater, Naomie Harris and Vince Vaughn began making appalled faces, which viewers later shared all over social media. But Tom wasn't done. "The idea that I could provide — or that we could provide some relief and entertainment for the people that work for UNICEF and Médecins Sans Frontières and the World Food Programme who are fixing the world in the places where it is broken made me immensely proud," he said, according to the Daily Mail. "So I dedicate this to those out there who are doing their best." The response online was swift — and not friendly. "Thank you to Tom Hiddleston and all actors who dare to perform in projects that are shown in some of the most dangerous parts of [the] world," tweeted writer Joshua Malina. Others praised Tom in similarly sarcastic terms for his great work "in the role of the white savior." Later, when a TMZ pap caught up with Tom for a response to complaints his speech was self-indulgent, he only responded with this: "I would say we all have to do the best we can to help each other out, is what I would say."

After Meryl Streep and other actors spoke out in protest of Donald Trump's proposed wall building at the Golden Globes, a reporter asked "Fences" star and Globe winner Viola Davis backstage for her take on the president-elect. "I will, believe it or not, remove Trump from the equation, because it's bigger than him," she said, according to Vulture. "I believe that it is our responsibility to uphold what it is to be an American, and what America is about. And the true meaning of what it means to pursue the American Dream. I think that America in and of itself has been an affirmation, but I think we've fallen short a lot because there is no way that we can have anyone in office that is not an extension of our own belief system. So then, what does that say about us? And I think that, if you answer that question, I think that that says it all."
Demi Moore, Emma Roberts attend Tallulah Willis' first gallery opening
Tallulah Willis is officially a professional artist. The 22-year-old celebrated her first gallery opening on Friday, Jan. 6, with an installation showing nearly 50 "creature" drawings at Eric Buterbaugh's EB Florals gallery annex in Los Angeles. Guests at the "Please Be Gentle" debut included Tallulah's mom, Demi Moore, her sisters, Rumer and Scout Willis and actress Emma Roberts, who at one point marveled that the pieces had almost sold out, according to the Hollywood Reporter. "Of course, I'm so proud of her," Demi told the magazine. "But I'm more proud to see the evolution of her self, and of her acceptance of being an artist. What I love most about tonight is her getting to see how others appreciate her work. As a parent, you want nothing more than to see your kids happy." She added that her favorite drawings in the exhibit are special because "they're sweet and provocative, but slightly twisted." Asked about the genesis of the twisted part, Demi laughed and said, "That's what makes the world go 'round!" "Please Be Gentle" runs through March 11.
Alexis Bledel addresses cry for more 'Gilmore Girls' episodes
The "Gilmore Girls" reboot, "A Year in the Life" ended with a cliffhanger that could open the door to more episodes. If those are in the works, however, Alexis Bledel, hasn't heard about it. Speaking to Variety at the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Saturday, Jan. 7, she said iIt hasn't been a conversation as of yet," when asked if there was still a future for the Gilmore girls. "All of us are wanting to tell a good story. The only thing I can say about future installments is that it would be about the story and the timing. We want to tell a great story," she said. Alexis went on to say the show's creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, has tended not to invite her actors to contribute plot lines along the way."She has a very clear vision and always has, and we haven't had input as to the stories and the characters on that show very much," Alexis said. "On 'Year in the Life,' we did a little bit more than the original run of the show, but it really is all Amy."
Mariah Carey calls NYE mess 'an opportunity to humiliate me'
In case you missed the first bajillion memos, Mariah Carey flubbed her lip syncing during a live performance in Times Square on New Year's Eve and now her team and the production staff can't stop taking pot shots at one another over it. Over the weekend, mimi tweeted a sound file in which she said the situation "turned into an opportunity to humiliate" her. "I haven't really addressed the situation that happened on New Year's Eve, but in time," she says (via Jezebel). "But for now I want everyone to know I came to New York in great spirits and was looking forward to a celebratory moment with the world. It's a shame that we were put into the hands of a production team with technical issues who chose to capitalize on circumstances beyond our control. … It's not practical for a singer to sing live and to be able to hear themselves properly in the middle of Times Square, with all the noise, the freezing cold, the smoke machines, thousands of people celebrating, especially when their ear monitors were not working at all. … Listen guys, they foiled me. Thus it turned into an opportunity to humiliate me and all those who were excited to celebrate the new year with me." She added that she plans to take a break from social media until March, when she goes back on tour.
