Kim Kardashian debuts blue mermaid hair
Is Kim Kardashian West having a Kylie Jenner moment? A new photo posted to her Instagram along with a mermaid Emoji shows Kim getting a new 'do . As the Internet has collectively pointed out, the ice blue shade she's going for is a longtime fave of her little sister's, particularly when paired with long hair. (For those of you keeping score at home, Kylie's dabbled in blue locks on and off since at least 2015, according to Cosmo.) Meanwhile, the gray matter beneath Kim's newly blue locks appears quite focused on news coming out of the California Governor's Mansion. On Wednesday, March 13, Kim retweeted multiple headlines about Gavin Newsom's decision to temporarily end the death penalty in California, adding applause Emojis to show her support for the move. Kim, who's been advocating for prisoners' rights with a good margin of success over the past year, spent much of Tuesday night tweeting about the death penalty. "For the last year, I have immersed myself in learning about the criminal justice system. I visited prisons, met with formerly incarcerated people, and helped with cases of individual injustice â including two death penalty cases," she wrote in one post. "I have met with and am very supportive of Governor Newsom and his decision to help bring an end to the California Death Penalty. Racial bias and unfairness run deep throughout the justice system but especially when it comes to the death penalty," she continued. "And we should not be okay with the risk that an innocent person could be executed ⌠I hope we can turn toward better solutions that focus more on healing victims of trauma and prioritizing fairness and justice." Before signing off for the evening, Kim added: "I do not believe that a civilized society can claim to be a leader in the world as long as its government continues to sanction the premeditated and discriminatory execution of its people."
Ne-Yo says Jennifer Lopez is 'the happiest I've seen her' since getting engaged to A-Rod
Nearly a year ago, Jennifer Lopez's "World of Dance" costars, Ne-Yo and Jenna Dewan told reporters at the NBC Upfronts they were "sure" J.Lo and her then-boyfriend, Alex Rodriguez, were on track to take "the next step" in their relationship and get engaged. Now that Jennifer's wearing the $1.8 million, 16-carat rock Alex slipped on her hand during their recent trip to the Bahamas, NeYo says he's never seen Jennifer quite this blissed out. "I won't say it's the happiest she's ever been, I don't personally know, but it's the happiest I've seen her since I've known her, so that being said, good job A-Rod!" Ne-Yo gushed to ET this week. "I'm super happy for her. She's over the moon." The singer says after he saw the couple's engagement announcement on Instagram he "instantly sent her a text" to congratulate her â then ducked out of the chat, telling her she should get back to doing "engaged stuff" with Alex. "Anybody who's ever seen the two of them together, it's like, 'They getting married. Yeah, they getting married. That's going to happen,'" he said, reiterating his prediction from last May. Ne-Yo's not the only person close to Jennifer who's noticed she's overjoyed, either. A few days after she posted her big news, a source told People the triple threat performer was "ecstatic."

Britney Spears still can't get married or have more kids without her father's approval
Britney Spears has made it crystal clear over the past few years that she's smitten with her boyfriend, Sam Asghari. But a source tells Us Weekly that if Brit wants to walk down the aisle and make things official with her guy, the 37-year-old will need her father's approval. Britney remains under a conservatorship that was put in place after she suffered a very public mental health crisis in 2008. Now, Jamie Spears is the one whose health is sufering â but Britney's choices remain largely at his discretion. "Britney can't get married unless Jamie approves it and Jamie is inclined not to, because it would only [create complicated] legal issues," says the source. Should she want more kids, the insider adds, "she'd have to get her dad on board for that too." The source says the singer appreciates that Jamie has "given her tremendous space" and that he "doesn't live with her or micromanage her daily routine." They're also still close. In January, Britney announced she was going on an "indefinite hiatus" and postponing her Las Vegas residency while her father recovers from "a life-threatening illness."
Kylie Jenner teases first Kylie Cosmetics collaboration with Kendall Jenner
There's something new in the works at Kylie Cosmetics. During an Instagram Live video Kylie Jenner posted this week (via People), she read a question from a fan who wondered, "Can we get a collab with Kendall?" In response, Kylie winked at the camera and lifted a finger to her lips. "Shhh," she said coyly. "You know Kendall was in a contract for a really long time so I couldn't do a collab with her," Kylie noted, explaining "that's the only reason" her model sib remains the only sister in the Kardashian-Jener krewe Kylie has not teamed up with on a Kylie Cosmetics project. "But, you know, we worked it out," Kylie added. Though they've since gone different directions with their careers, Kendall and Kylie worked together on their clothing line, PacSun back in 2013 when Kylie was 15 and Kendall was 17. The two went on to design a limited edition collection with Topshop, followed by their own Kendall+Kylie line.

Andy Cohen admits he and NeNe Leakes still follow each other on Twitter
As if the actual drama weren't enough, it seems the "unfollowing" situation NeNe Leakes was accused of on "Watch What Happens Live" over the weekend was somewhat manufactured. "I will say it AGAIN! I was NEVER following @andy on Instagram. He wasn't following me or any housewives! He knows this!" NeNe tweeted on Tuesday, March 12, amid buzz over the suggestion she'd "unfollowed everyone on the ["Real Housewives of Atlanta"] cast except Shamari DeVoe. "In fact i texted him and asked, why did u say that on WWHL when we don't follow each other! ALL FACTS! Now go ask him! I NEVER need to lie. For what?" she continued (via the Daily Mail). By the end of the day, Andy had weighed in to confirm, "NeNe is right! We follow each other on Twitter," in spite of his claim on "WWHL" that she'd unfollowed him on Instagram "for sure" and possibly Twitter. Judging from her reply the following morning, however, it might not be long before she really does nix Andy from her feed. "Thank you for clearing that up!," she wrote. "Now go post this on your stupid ⌠blogs."
Judge Judy set to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award at the daytime Emmys
All rise! After more than 22 years on her daytime TV bench, Judge Judy, aka Judy Sheindlin, is set to become the first courtroom judge to win an Emmy Award for Lifetime Achievement at the Daytime Emmy Awards on May 5, according to Variety. In an announcement about the award, NATAS President & CEO Adam Sharp praised Sheindlin for "shaping one of the mainstay genres of our medium." Senior V.P. and Executive Producer of the awards, David Michaels, added, "Judge Judy' redefined and reinvigorated the courtroom format propelling the genre to new heights." "Judge Judy" has consistently ranked No. 1 in ratings among court programs for each of its seasons since the series debuted in 1996, the statement noted. All of that probably helps explain how Sheindlin, 76, has amassed a sizeable fortune, one she recently used to buy the most expensive home in Rhode Island for herself and her husband, Judge Jerry Sheindlin (fun fact: he starred on "People's Court" from 1999 â 2000). Here's hoping the presenter has a steel will, a sharp wit and gets no detail wrong when he or she hands Judge Judy her award â because as her honor is fond of saying, "beauty fades; dumb is forever."
Jessica Chastain vows to keep fighting for equal opportunities in Hollywood
Jessica Chastain, along with Ava DuVernay and Constance Wu, was honored for her "change maker" role in Hollywood by Marie Claire on Tuesday, March 12, in Los Angeles. And in a chat with Variety, she explained that she doesn't mind if some people's motives in leveling the playing field for women and men in her industry are more about what's "in fashion" than what's right. "Because at the end of the day, the more we focus on creating opportunities for everyone â I don't care if some people are doing it because it's the fashionable thing to do. It's also the right thing to do," she said, according to Page Six. "Everything I'm producing, the movie I'm doing with Octavia, '355,' â which actually the cast is more diverse than not when you think of the five women â we all have equal pay. Just doing things where you balance the scales makes a huge difference, and that's what I'm going to continue to do." She added: "I'm also going to continue to tell stories where race isn't necessarily a factor. The more we have these conversations, the more that we're going to accurately be able to portray all the people of our world. We're not just one demographic living this world. We need to be inclusive of everyone."
