Matt Lauer's new ink is about the corrosive power of 'hatred'
One day after Mediaite published an op-ed in which Matt Lauer slammed Ronan Farrow's "Catch & Kill" reporting and again denied the rape allegations made against him in the book, the former "Today" host was spotted with a new tattoo about the corrosive power of "hatred." According to Page Six, Lauer was behind the wheel of a car in Nyack, New York, wearing a white button-down shirt with the sleeves rolled up on Wednesday, May 20, when the new ink came into view. "Hatred corrodes the container it is carried in," the tattoo reads. It's reportedly a quote from Sen. Alan Simpson's eulogy for President George H.W. Bush in 2018. "You would have wanted [Bush] on your side. He never hated anyone," Simpson said at the time. "He knew what his mother and my mother always knew: Hatred corrodes the container it's carried in. The most decent and honorable man I ever met was my friend George Bush." In the years before his death, multiple women claimed the former president had groped or touched them inappropriately over a long period of years. Through his rep, Bush apologized for having made anyone uncomfortable when he "patted women's rears," according to CNN. In Lauer's recent op-ed, he calls Farrow's reporting on Lauer's alleged sexual misconduct and rape "deeply flawed," saying Farrow came to the assignment with a bias against NBC.

Sharing a handful of pages from her own analog diary, Christina urged followers to use the pandemic to "dig deep, listen to ourselves, & create a 'safe space' for one another… to share our current or past experiences (hardships or highlights), reflect on who we want to be, how we wish to live when we come out of this, and what we want to leave behind." She explained that diary writing keeps her "grounded" and lets her "listen to my own voice." Looking back on old journals, Christina added, reminds her of the experiences that "shaped" who she is. "I dare us to be real, fearless, take away the filters and be comfortable enough in our own individual beauty," she continued. "I dare us to come together and share our feelings in a time that is uncertain – whether we may feel scared, lonely, and everything in between. I dare us to read each other's truths and support them." Finally, Christina dared some specific pals to join her, many of whom said they would. "This diary is so beautiful with these photos!" Alicia Keys wrote in the comments. "Let me see if mine can compare!! Beautiful idea sis!! Love it." Demi Lovato and Bethenny Frankel said they were game, too, with Demi commenting "Love you!!! Challenge accepted @xtina ❤️❤️."

Zoe Kravitz expresses concern about the necessary 'touching' involved in making movies
The last major film Zoe Kravitz worked on before Hollywood went into lockdown to slow the spread of the coronavirus was "The Batman," which paused on production in March out of safety concerns. When Zoe returns to the set as Catwoman, alongside Robert Pattinson as Batman-slash-Bruce Wayne, she has reason to be concerned about the pandemic and its effect on her job. Speaking to Variety, Zoe recently estimated she had more physical interactions with cast and crew on "The Batman" than she's had on any previous roles. She still hopes "to wake up every day to an email or a phone call saying, 'We're ready to go,'" so she can return to working on the movie, she said, but safety is clearly at the forefront of her mind. "You have people just touching your face, touching your body all day long. I need help getting into the catsuit. I can't do it on my own," she said. "I was probably touched more than any job [on 'The Batman'], just because of the clothes and the combat and all of that." Nonetheless, she added that the rest of the cast is "ready to go when it's safe." The release date is now October 2021, having been pushed back to accommodate the break in filming.

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany's public "scolding" won't deter Jimmy Kimmel from criticizing Donald Trump on his show. He made that clear this week after a bit questioning why the president would refuse to wear a face mask in public … yet would take a drug the FDA has warned against using to combat COVID-19. "I thought about it for a long time last night and I've come to what I think is the only reasonable conclusion: He's trying to kill himself," Jimmy quipped early in the week (via the Daily Beast). Calling Trump's promotion of the antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine, known to cause dangerous heart abnormalities that have actually killed COVID patients, the "Hydroxy Horror Picture Show" on Wednesday, Kimmel griped that after Trump "claimed he has been taking hydroxychloroquine to stave off the coronavirus," "his disciples are now doing it too," including some who are reportedly making their own version of the drug.
"That's good old-fashioned American initiative! Boil up some homemade hydroxy! What could possibly go wrong?" he joked, adding, "If you're dumb enough to think it's a good idea to make your own hydroxychloroquine at home, you're probably not smart enough to make your own hydroxychloroquine …" From there, he recounted what he called McEnany's "scolding" at a press conference. "No one should be taking this without a prescription from their doctor," she told reporters. "But that being said, I've seen a lot of apoplectic coverage of hydroxychloroquine." First on her list of examples was Kimmel's "the president's 'trying to kill himself'" joke. Kimmel's response to being called out? "She's definitely still getting her hair colored, right?" he said after showing the clip. "Anyway, thank you for watching, Kayleigh. It's always nice to welcome a new fan."
Cher thanks crew, fans after social distancing surprise birthday party
Birthday girl Cher turned 74 on Wednesday and as she later tweeted to fans, her crew threw a surprise party for her to celebrate. The bash was apparently outside and limited to 10 people, all of whom wore masks and practiced social distancing. "Had a great surprise party!" she tweeted on Thursday. "We were outside, masks, gloves and & social distancing," she continued, adding that the distance was "the hardest part." The group also had a cake, Cher noted. "Hope we did it right. It's not easy. A million things you're used to doing that you can't do." As fans continued the celebrati0on online, showing off the cakes, cupcakes and other b-day treats they'd gotten in her honor, Cher thanked them and her crew once more, tweeting: "WHAT CAN I SAY…YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST & I CANT BELIEVE IM 'SO' OLD & 'STILL CRAZY AFTER ALL THESE YRS.' … I CANT FIND WORDS TO THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU'VE [DONE] FOR ME🙏🏻."
John Krasinski's 'Some Good News' is moving to CBS All Access
When John Krasinski signed off from the finale of his online "Some Good News" series, fans were quick to notice he left the door open for the show's possible return by saying he hoped to see everyone again soon. The line likely had to do with a deal that was announced Thursday between John and ViacomCBS, which is set to host more of the show — meant to inspire joy in viewers during the pandemic — on CBS All Access, according to ET. One detail that won't inspire joy in a lot of John's fans? He's not returning as the host, though he will continue to produce the show, having self-produced and self-financed the first season. "Could not be more excited and proud to be partnering with CBS-Viacom to be able to bring Some Good News to so many more people!" he said in a statement. "From the first episode, our goal was to create a news show dedicated entirely to good news. Never did I expect to be joining the ranks of such a historic news organization as CBS." The eight episodes he made reportedly earned 2.56 million YouTube subscribers.
Denise Richards recalls having to hide Charlie Sheen's behavior from their daughters
On the Wednesday edition of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," Denise Richards gave viewers a glimpse of what it was like to raise kids with Charlie Sheen at the end of their marriage, when he'd returned to using drugs and alcohol. The moment came after Denise told producers she's "struggling" as a parent with her teenage girls, Sam Sheen, 16, and Lola Sheen, 14. "Sami, I think, sometimes she does things hoping to get a reaction out of me," she said after citing the time Sam dyed her hair pink without permission (via Today.com). "It's not easy." She went on to recall how parenting challenges began early on, saying "Charlie was sober when we got married," but that changed "rapidly" during her pregnancy with Lola, while Sam was a toddler. "It was a very dark time and very toxic, and I filed for divorce when I was six months pregnant with her," she said of the 2005 filing. "I always did whatever I could to hide Charlie's behavior," she continued. How do you tell kids what's really going on? I would say, 'Dad had to go to work, but he loves you so much. He wants to be here for you girls.'" Gigi Hadid shut down rumors she's had fillers in her face this week during an Instagram Live chat with makeup artist Erin Parsons for Maybelline. The two were discussing the round shape of her cheeks, Harper's Bazaar reports, when the filler speculation — which grew louder in February as Gigi was jetting around to walk runways in multiple cities — came up. "…I was like already like a few months preggo," Gigi told Erin, explaining that her pregnancy was the reason for her fuller face. She said she and her partner Zayn Malik "didn't know" at the time.
Kendall Jenner agrees to pay back $90k to Fyre Festival trustee
Kendall Jenner's agreement to promote Fyre Festival in return for $275,000 will end up costing her thousands. TMZ reports the model has consented to fork over $90,000 of her fee to a trustee of the disastrous 2017 event who's trying to pay back investors through a bankruptcy lawsuit. The trustee reportedly argued Kendall's fee was a "fraudulent transfer" since the festival didn't happen. Instead, as multiple documentaries have since recounted, would-be attendees who paid as much as $100,000 for the event were stranded on a basically uninhabitable island with no performances, not enough food and no real waste disposal system. Organizer Billy McFarland also hired Kendall's pals to pump the fest, including Bella Hadid and Hailey Bieber.
Weinstein accuser Rowena Chiu breaks NDA to share how she tried to protect other women from his advances
Harvey Weinstein's former Miramax assistant Rowena Chiu just broke the non-disclosure agreement she signed after his alleged sexual assault attempt for the second time. She first spoke out to tell her story in 2019. Now, with Weinstein behind bars, she's telling Variety how she and others used the NDA to try to help future female employees who might also face an assault. "Stuff like Harvey must go to sex therapy, so he has to admit that he has an addiction to sex," she said, recalling some of the content she had added to the contract. "And then there was all the corporate stuff we tried to put in about how complaints were handled — we even went so far as to say that if there is another woman who brings an accusation forward [within two years of the signed NDA] and Harvey feels compelled to settle with her for $35,000 or up, he will automatically resign from Miramax and report himself to the Walt Disney Co." She also said she and her lawyers "fought really hard to have a really simple clause" that would force Weinstein to "travel with one male assistant," rather than a female one. "We spent hours in that law office arguing for clauses that would stop Harvey and protect other women," she recalled. "But, if you are one little tug boat, how do you turn the Titanic around? It's heartbreaking – when you read our NDAs, you see the path and the pattern where she tried to lay out a blueprint to stop Harvey."
