Mike Johnson tries to move on from Demi Lovato with Keke Palmer
Former "Bachelorette" star Mike Johnson hasn't given up on the idea he could find love in the spotlight. After his stint on the reality show led to some online flirting and a date with Demi Lovato, Mike stopped by "Strahan, Sara & Keke" on Monday, Oct. 14 — and promptly asked out host Keke Palmer. He even used the Demi date as a segue into the suggestion that they go out. "I made a mistake. I don't like dating in public," he said when she asked about his reported meetup with Demi. He then added, "But if I were to ask you if we could go on a date in the public …," which got a loud round of cheers from the audience. Keke covered her face shyly. "What's the next question? What's the next question?" she joked to her co-hosts, according to E! News. "Mike, let me tell you something," said Michael Strahan. "Demi's my girl, I love this one here, too, now," he continued, referencing Keke. "You mess up and I'm coming for you. You don't want that," he joked. Ultimately, though, he admitted Keke and Mike "look real good together," before Keke shut down the conversation by reminding the guys, "I'm at work."
Goop slammed for promoting 'dangerous' health advice about weight
Gwyneth Paltrow's Goop website is facing a new round of criticism thanks to a post encouraging readers to shoot for the "weight at the low end of your 'set range,'" which is a "genetically determined range of weight that your body generally keeps you in," according to the Independent. The advice comes from Traci Mann, PhD, a psychologist specializing in helping people stick to decisions to change unhealthy patterns. But some of Mann's peers, like Cambridge University scientist Giles Yeo, are expressing concern the advice could send people susceptible to eating disorders into the danger zone. "This is a dangerous suggestion, as many people will take it to mean they should be as thin as possible," Yeo said in response to the article, according to the Daily Mail. He went on to slam Goop in general for basing many of its recommendations on "pseudoscience,'" calling the set range notion "a silly idea because there is no clear way to determine what your leanest liveable weight is." Added Yeo: "It is therefore nigh-on impossible to find a target to stick to. People should not be afraid of food, and 'diet' should not have become such a loaded term. Goop is part of the reason that people have become afraid of eating. We need to love our food, just eat less of it."

Rihanna defends Vogue writer who admitted she 'winged' their interview
Here's proof honesty really is the best policy. In Vogue's November cover story on Rihanna, there's a moment where the writer, Abby Aguirre, admits to her subject that she got the interview assignment at the last minute and wasn't able to do much prep — an approach she later caught flack for from Rihanna's fans. "Normally I bring a list of questions," Aguirre writes in the profile, "but I didn't have time to prepare one, which I make a split-second decision to confess. 'I'm winging it, so you have to help me,' I say nervously. Rihanna flashes a grin that is somehow both reassuring and mischievous," Aguirre writes, "Aren't we all?' she says." Despite having used the moment to show something about Rihanna's personality, the bit irked some readers and fans. Eventually, Aguirre tried to explain herself on Twitter. "GUYS. I was driving to Trader Joe's in sweatpants when I got the call and literally had to flip a b—-," she tweeted. "I research my subjects to death. *Especially* Rihanna. I appreciate the anger behind the reaction. But this is a misunderstanding, for which I take full responsibility. I had literally no notice. The point was to convey how nerve-wracking this was, given my deep, bordering-on-psychotic reverence for Rihanna," she posted. Rihanna picked up on the comment and spoke out to defend her interviewer in a subsequent interview with WWD. "No, no, no, no. That's gangster," said the singer, according to JustJared. "For you to get a call the day before being like, 'Hey, Rihanna's in L.A., you wanna do this?' And show up on the dime and write an incredible article that I'm really proud of and enjoyed reading? She's badass for that," Rihanna told WWD. "If you don't have to prepare, girl, you're gangster."

Justin Timberlake teases new projects with Lizzo, Meek Mill
After a year of touring in support of "Man of the Woods," Justin Timberlake's buzzing with creative energy and looking for new collaborators. Speaking to ET in a segment airing Monday, Oct. 14, the singer revealed he recently contacted his music publishers and told them he wants to "work with young, fresh people" and team up with other musicians on new projects. "I've been songwriting and producing for so long — I want to experience that energy, and I want to work with people that I think are truly amazing," he explained. One of those people is Lizzo, who he went into the studio with this spring after meeting her at the Songwriter's Hall of Fame earlier this year. "I'm not going to tell you too much about what we did together in the studio. If she wants to tell you she can, but it's flames," he said. "It is so good. I am so excited about it." Other recent collaborators have included SZA and Meek Mill, as well as the kids he's been working with at the song lab he set up via the Stax Academy. "I'm having these experiences that are fueling me in such a different way and, again," he told ET. "I think it was really birthed out of feeling like, what can I do right now to just be a part of my community and integrate."

Mariah Carey had some words for various news outlets over the weekend after multiple headlines suggested she'd confused Jennifer Aniston for Reese Witherspoon during her speech Variety's Power of Women Luncheon last week. The moment came after a teleprompter she was using failed. As she tried to pick up where the teleprompter let her down, she told the audience: "This is why I have cue cards because I was watching Reese Witherspoon doing her speech — I am completely off speech right now — why can't it be the one that's right in front of you? Oh Lord, well I will just get into it and trust these prompters will work." Since Jennifer Aniston spoke before her — not Reese Witherspoon — reporters took her seemingly nervous comment to mean she mixed up the two. That wasn't the case, Mariah later said on Twitter. Pointing to one of the "Mariah Carey confused Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston" headlines, Mariah wrote: "That's idiotic. Daily Mail, Mirror, Metro, Buzzfeed. YOU'RE mistaken & didn't do research. Trust me, I know the difference. I KNOW them. If this is your takeaway from an event that celebrates women, shame on you! I was referring to Reese's speech below." She then shared a clip of Reese's speech at the same event in 2014. As Jezebel suggests, Mariah may have been watching Reese's talk ahead of the event.
Pharrell Williams says he now sees how 'Blurred Lines' 'catered to' male 'chauvinist culture'
Pharrell Williams is no longer defending the controversial lyrics of his 2013 hit, "Blurred Lines." The Robin Thicke collaboration, which features lyrics like "I know you want it," has been widely criticized for its implications about sexual consent. Now, Pharrell tells GQ he had some maturing to do back then. "Some of my old songs, I would never write or sing today," he says in the magazine's "New Masculinity" issue. "I get embarrassed by some of that stuff. It just took a lot of time and growth to get to that place." Pharrell continues: "'Blurred Lines' opened me up. I didn't get it at first… lyrically, I was like, What are you talking about?… And then I realized that there are men who use that same language when taking advantage of a woman, and it doesn't matter that that's not my behavior. Or the way I think about things. It just matters how it affects women…I realized that we live in a chauvinist culture in our country. Hadn't realized that. Didn't realize that some of my songs catered to that." The lyrical content, of course, wasn't the song's only big controversy. Pharrell and Thicke were also ordered to fork over nearly $5 million to Marvin Gaye's family after they sued on grounds the song had ripped off Gaye's "Got To Give It Up."
Anne Hathaway celebrates baby No. 2 with a surprise shower
Anne Hathaway's almost ready to welcome her second little one and her friends and family spent the day Saturday, Oct. 12, helping her celebrate. E! News reports the actress had no idea she'd be feted when she walked insider her New York City home and found a group of loved ones waiting for her. "It was a surprise baby shower," a guest told the website. "Anne walked in and everyone yelled 'Surprise.' She looked completely shocked and put her hand over her mouth then her face. She hugged one of her friends and said, 'You guys are so good!'" Anne and her husband, Adam Shulman, welcomed their son Jonathan in 2016. They have not announced the gender of baby No. 2.
E! special looks at the struggles of women in hip-hop through the years
"They just want to see a catfight." That's how Cornell Africana Studies professor Dr. Oneka LaBennett describes the feuds that seem to surface regularly between women in hip-hop in a trailer for the next E! True Hollywood Story, "Does Hip Hop Reject Women." Set to air Oct. 20, the show tackles why hip-hop has been so heavily dominated by men for decades, according to the Daily Mail. "In this industry, there's only room for one woman at the top," Da Brat asserts in the clip. The show also looks at how Nicki and Cardi have used social media to get past label brass depictions of their brands and create their own voice and fan base. Other artists featured the special include Queen Latifah, Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott, Foxy Brown and Lil Kim.
Luke Perry's daughter shares moving post about her dad on his birthday
Luke Perry would have turned 53 on Friday, Oct. 12, a milestone his family, colleagues and friends marked on social media with love, sweet pictures and happy memories. Sophie Perry, 19, shared an especially moving shot of her dad — getting a warm hug from her. "Happy birthday, fashion icon," she teased in the caption. "I can hear you doing your best Tim Gunn impersonation now. Love you the most." Luke's former "90210" costar, Jason Priestley, got a kick out of the post, commenting, "That made me laugh Sophie… sending you so much love!" Other actors did as well, including cast members from "Riverdale," according to The Blast. Luke died on March 4 after suffering a stroke. He was 52.
Jeremy Renner's rep speaks out about his ex's latest allegations
In the wake of new accusations about Jeremy Renner made by his ex, Sonni Pacheco, the actor's rep has spoken out about the wellbeing of the former couple's daughter, saying that's all that matters as the two continue their custody battle. In Sonni's latest court filings, she claimed Jeremy once put a gun in his mouth and threatened to kill himself while drunk and abusing drugs. She also claimed he told people in a club he wanted to kill her. But the star's rep sees the claims as nothing more than part of her plan to get sole custody of their daughter, Ava, who is 6. "The well-being of his daughter Ava has always been and continues to be the primary focus for Jeremy. This is a matter for the court to decide. It's important to note the dramatizations made in Sonni's declaration are a one-sided account made with a specific goal in mind," the spokesperson tells TMZ. In his own court filings, Jeremy has said Sonni is the one with substance abuse issues and that he is sober, according to JustJared.
