Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden baby news: New details

Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden announced last week that they'd expanded their family with a new baby girl, Raddix Madden, telling Instagram followers they were "happy, blessed and grateful to begin this new decade" with news of Raddix's birth. "She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family," the couple wrote in their post. A source tells People Raddix arrived "right before New Years in Los Angeles," adding, "you can tell they are just the happiest … it's very emotional for them." The magazine recently reported Cameron, 47, "really wanted to be a mom," and that she and Benji, 40, who tied the knot in 2015, "were hoping they would be blessed with a baby." The couple's announcement also included a caveat that in the interest of Raddix's privacy, they would not be "posting pictures or sharing any more details, other than the fact that she is really really cute!! Some would even say RAD …" The "rad" reference seems to be a hint at the meaning of the unorthodox name they chose, but fans on social media were still hunting for more information about the little girl's name in the wake of Cameron and Benji's news. A self-described "Good Charlotte superfan" over at Vice did some digging and came up with a few potential meanings for "Raddix," while noting that neither BabyNames.com or BabyCenter.com made any mention of the moniker. It seems Radix with one "D," "… is the base in a numerical system, according to both Dictionary.com and Merriam Webster. Radix can also be used to mean the primary source of something: a root both literally and figuratively," according to Vice, which added that, "the latter kinda makes sense for a first child."

Miley Cyrus settles $300M copyright infringement suit

Miley Cyrus has put an end to the $300 million copyright infringement lawsuit in which she was accused of ripping off major elements of another artist's song for her 2013 hit, "We Can't Stop." Rolling Stone reports Jamaican songwriter Michael May filed suit against Miley and RCA Records in 2018 for stealing various parts of his "1998 track "We Run Things," and citing parts of her song such as the hook, "We run things / Things don't run we," which bears a strong resemblance to his lyric, "We run things / Things no run we." A letter dated Dec. 12 showed Miley and Michael had reached a settlement and stated that the lawsuit would be dismissed "pending payment of the settlement proceeds." Miley's lawyers have not revealed the terms of the settlement.

Joaquin Phoenix, Rooney Mara organized Globes' vegan menu; Joaquin to wear same tux throughout awards season to reduce waste

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association served Golden Globes attendees an entirely vegan menu for the first time on Sunday, Jan. 6, and that's largely thanks to the efforts of Joaquin Phoenix and his partner, Rooney Mara. Speaking to Page Six over the weekend, Moby called Joaquin part of the "vegan mafia" and credited him and Rooney with the plant-based Globes meal, saying Joaquin had told him a while back he was "working on it." Joaquin's rep later confirmed Moby's comments. "By acknowledging animal agriculture's role in the degradation of our planet and boldly taking measures to do its part to reduce harm," Joaquin told the outlet in a statement, "the [Hollywood Foreign Press Association] has shown great leadership." Stella McCartney also tweeted about Joaquin after he won a Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama for his performance in "The Joker." "This man is a winner… wearing custom Stella because he chooses to make choices for the future of the planet," she shared. "He has also chosen to wear this same Tux for the entire award season to reduce waste. I am proud to join forces with you… x Stella."

Harvey Weinstein trail begins as Rose McGowan, Rosanna Arquette hold press conference outside courthouse

Reporters began lining up as early as 4 a.m. for access to the New York City courtroom where Harvey Weinstein's criminal rape and sexual assault trial began with a first-day hearing on Monday, Jan. 6, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Inside the courtroom, Judge James M. Burke denied a request from the prosecution for a broad gag order regarding the witnesses, but he also warned the defense to keep the witnesses out of their commentary when speaking to press and others. Meanwhile, outside the courtroom, the group of Weinstein accusers calling themselves the Silence Breakers — including Rose McGowan and Rosanna Arquette — held a press conference ahead of the hearing. "As one of the Silence Breakers, I stand in solidarity with the brave survivors who will take the stand against Harvey Weinstein in this trial," Arquette told the crowd of reporters, protesters and others. "While the emotion of the day runs high, I join these other brave women who were also harmed by Harvey Weinstein to say: We aren't going anywhere. As we stand here at the beginning of a new year and a new decade: Time's Up. Time's Up on sexual harassment in all workplaces. Time's Up on blaming survivors. Time's Up on empty apologies without consequences. And Time's Up on the pervasive culture of silence that has enabled abusers like Weinstein," she continued. She went on to say assaults like those Weinstein has been accused of by scores of women make it "unsafe" for women "to go to work." She concluded her speech by demanding Weinstein and others be held accountable for their actions. The trial is expected to take place over the next two months.

lIt seems safe to say there are at least a few thousand people who'd love the chance to share a kiss with Zac Efron. Zac's longtime friend and "High School Musical" costar Ashley Tisdale, however, is not one of them. The "Merry Happy Whatever" star, 34, sat down with Elle recently for a game of "Thirst Trap," where she was asked to reveal her worst onscreen kiss. Turns out her pal Zac was the winner of that dubious honor. ""I'll tell you why it was the worst, OK? I had to kiss Zac Efron on 'The Suite Life of Zack and Cody,' and it's the worst because I am so close to him and he's like my brother," she explained. "At the time, he was used to acting on, like, Warner Brothers, which is CW, and we were on Disney Channel. And so he, like, he tried kissing me with his tongue, and I was like, 'Get away from me!' I closed my mouth so fast … I was like, 'This is Disney Channel, we don't kiss like that on Disney Channel!'" she said through a burst of laughter. "It's just weird when you're so close to somebody, and we'd already done the movie. I'd known him for years before. That is why it was the worst. It's just we're too close."

Maddox Jolie-Pitt gets a local nickname in South Korea

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's son Maddox Jolie-Pitt is now halfway through his first year of college at Yonsei University in South Korea and according to his grandfather, his friends there have given him a new Korean nickname. "He's called Ducks Hu," his Jon Voight told Page Six at a party before the Golden Globes over the weekend. "They have their names in South Korea, from their language. And it's a perfect name for him: Ducks." The tab noted "Ducks Hu" was its best attempt at spelling the name correctly. Maddox, 18, is studying biochemistry.

Linda Perry and Sara Gilbert's marriage may be coming to an end but their relationship isn't going away, it's just changed. That's according to Linda, who assured Page Six over the weekend that despite the fact Sara recently filed for legal separation from Linda after five years of marriage, all is well between them. When the outlet's reported mentioned Linda's "bumpy" end to 2019, the award-winning songwriter and producer said, "it's not bumpy." As she put it: "You have to look at life as life, and things happen. I'm still on an incredible adventure with Sara. I love her. I adore her. We have a beautiful child together. So that journey's not ended, it's evolved into something else."

Kanye West plans to take his Sunday Service overseas in 2020

After a year's worth of Sunday Service performances, Kanye West is reportedly ready to take his weekly event outside the U.S. In 2020, the rapper and designer plans to stage Sunday Services in various parts of Europe and Africa, according to TMZ. Sources tell the outlet 'Ye is no longer interested "traditional touring for his music" and that he plans to record more with his Sunday Service gospel choir. In addition to branching out overseas and recording, Kanye has another major Sunday Service collaboration with Joel Osteen in the works for Yankee Stadium in May as part of the pastor's "Night of Hope" tour. In 2019, 'Ye staged his service at Coachella, in Dayton Ohio, on Los Angeles' Skid Row and other locations.

Kim Kardashian West slams Twitter user for assuming her family has not donated to Australian wildfire relief efforts

As wildfires continued to blaze in Australia over the weekend, one Twitter user called out the Kardashian-Jenner family, claiming they've made no donations to relief efforts in spite of their combined wealth. "Nothing gets me more heated than to see the Kardashians/Jenners talk about climate change/wildfires & not donate even a penny," the user wrote (via People), tagging Kim Kardashian West, Khloe Kardashian Kourtney Kardashian, Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner. Kim took issue with the assumption and soon responded by writing, "Nothing gets me more heated than to see people think they know what we donated to and to think we have to publicize everything." She also retweeted a post from Khloe that read: "Good deeds should be done with intention and not for attention. We are all blessed to be able to bless others even if it is in the slightest way. But we do not need to be boastful about that. Be boastful in regards to teaching others how they may be able to help as well." At least 17 people and what scientists estimate to be half a billion animals have died in the fires, which have decimated more than 11 million acres since they began in September.

Lizzo quits Twitter

Lizzo is done with Twitter for now. "Yeah I can't do this Twitter s—-no more.. too many trolls," she tweeted on Sunday, Jan. 5. "I'll be back when I feel like it." CNN points out the post landed amid rounds of social media jokes that suggested the U.S. could use her as a bomb to drop on Iran. As she told Billboard last year, though, this isn't the first time she's faced critics. "I've always had to turn haters into congratulators," she said at the time. "That's the thing with my songs and my live shows: I've never lost that mentality of 'I have to win you over,' and I'm never going to, because I didn't learn that way. I have muscle memory in this."
