Katy Perry is pregnant! The singer and "American Idol" judge announced the pregnancy news in a music video for "Never Worn White," which she released on March 4. At the end of the video, Katy revealed her baby bump. On social media afterward, she formally confirmed the pregnancy. "omg so glad I don't have to suck it in anymore," she wrote on Twitter, then adding "or carry around a big purse lol." Later on Instagram Live, she said the pregnancy was the "longest secret" she's ever had to keep, adding that she's been craving burritos. Katy and her fiance, Orlando Bloom, were reportedly set to marry in June in Japan, but the wedding has been delayed due to coronavirus.

It was the story you couldn't escape: coronavirus has essentially stopped the world from functioning. Businesses are closed, people are out of jobs and hospitals are being overrun with sick patients. The highly-infectious virus struck the entertainment world, too. On March 11, Tom Hanks revealed that he and his wife, Rita Wilson, had tested positive for Covid-19 in Australia. A slew of celebrities followed, including Idris Elba, Andy Cohen and Colton Underwood. On March 24, the royal family announced that Prince Charles also contracted the virus and was self-isolating in Scotland. Worldwide there have been 24,000 deaths from coronavirus. On March 26, the United States passed China as having the most confirmed cases of coronavirus.

Loss of a legend

So long, gambler. On March 19, Kenny Rogers, a three-time Grammy winner with a career spanning six decades, passed away at the age of 81. The legendary singer was in hospice care in Georgia at the time of his death. "Kenny Rogers left an indelible mark on the history of American music. His songs have endeared music lovers and touched the lives of millions around the world," his family said in a statement. Kenny's death sparked mourning throughout the entertainment industry. His longtime singing partner Dolly Parton said, "I loved Kenny with all my heart. My heart's broken." Lionel Richie added, "So much laughter so many adventures to remember, my heart is broken."

Possibly pregnant?

It was a confusing month for Amanda Bynes. On March 8, reports surfaced that Amanda Bynes and her fiance of three weeks, Paul Michael, had split up. He even supposedly confirmed the split to In Touch. They each purged their Instagram pages of photos with each other. However, on March 10, Paul insisted to Page Six that they were still engaged and claimed their Instagram accounts were "hacked" and the hacker removed their photos (but left all the others). Then on March 17, both Amanda and Paul announced that they were expecting their first child together. They have since deleted the announcements. According to reports, the posts contained a picture of an ultrasound with her name on it. "Baby on board!" the caption read. On March 18, TMZ reported that because the former actress is still under a conservatorship run by her parents, she would likely lose custody of the child after its birth (her dad and Paul would share custody). "I'm not confirming that Amanda is expecting and because of that it's premature for anyone to speculate about who would have custody of Amanda's unborn child," her lawyer told TMZ. In the middle of all this, the "She's The Man" star was ordered by a judge to enter a psychiatric facility.

Prisoner!

Harvey Weinstein is paying for his sins. On March 11, the disgraced former movie mogul was sentenced to 23 years in prison for rape and sexual assault. Weinstein, 67, had been accused of using his influence to take advantage of throngs of women. Officially, he will serve 20 years in prison for criminal sexual act and three years in prison for rape. The sentences will run consecutively. "I really feel remorse for this situation," he said in court, according to CNN. "I feel it deeply in my heart. I will spend my time really caring and really trying to be a better person. I'm not going to say these aren't great people, I had wonderful times with these people, you know. It is just I'm totally confused and I think men are confused about all of these issues." Many in Hollywood applauded the harsh sentence. As if that weren't enough, Harvey also contracted coronavirus in late March.

Pregnant!

Meghan McCain and her husband Ben Domenech have a baby on the way. "The View" co-host made the announcement on March 22 on Instagram, noting that she would be making appearances by satellite for the time being. "Although this isn't how I expected to announce my pregnancy, both we and our families are excited to share the news with you all," she wrote. "I consulted with my doctors and they advised me that for the safety of our baby and myself, I should be extra vigilant about limiting the amount of people we come in contact with."

Oprah Winfrey is alive and well and not behind bars, despite what you read on the Internet. On March 17, Oprah's name was trending on social media after the online conspiracy group QAnon started a rumor that claimed she was involved in a drug and child trafficking ring (yes, some people actually believed it). "Just got a phone call that my name is trending. And being trolled for some awful FAKE thing. It's NOT TRUE," she tweeted. "Haven't been raided, or arrested. Just sanitizing and self distancing with the rest of the world. Stay safe everybody." QAnon, among other things, believes there's anonymous secret agents working in the government trying to overthrow President Trump.

Drama, drama, drama! The most dramatic finale in the history of "The Bachelor" occurred this month, and no one could have seen this ending. The season finale of the "Bachelor" aired on March 10 with Peter Weber asking Hannah Ann Sluss to marry him. She said yes. However, things changed between that engagement day, as the duo split after Peter couldn't stop thinking about Madison Prewett, who left him on the show over their lifestyle differences. After Hannah had her say, Peter was reunited with Madison, something that didn't sit well with Peter's mom, who was visibly disgusted. Barbara didn't hold back, vocalizing her displeasure with Madison. "He's going to have to fail to succeed," she told host Chris Harrison of her son. "All his friends, all his family, everyone that knows him knows that it's not going to work." Momma was right. A few days later the new duo split. Then, later in the month, Peter was spotted getting flirty with Kelly Flanagan, who he eliminated earlier during the season. Madison, meanwhile, was quickly linked to former "Bachelorette" star Connor Saeli.

Guest-less wedding

Surprise! Bindi Irwin tied the knot with longtime beau Chandler Powell on March 25 at the Australia Zoo, the same place they got engaged last year. The guest list included… nobody. The couple had planned a larger wedding, but scrapped all that because of the Covid-19 pandemic. The only people on hand, other than the bride and groom, were some family members. Her brother, Robert, walked her down the aisle. "We held a small ceremony and I married my best friend," Bindi said on Instagram. "We've planned this beautiful day for nearly a year and had to change everything, as we didn't have guests at our wedding." She added, "This was a very difficult decision but important to keep everyone safe. We wish all of our friends and family could have been there with us." Bindi and Chandler lit a candle in honor of her late father, Steve Irwin.

It seems like Ben Affleck has a new love. For most of March, the actor was linked to his "Deep Water" costar Ana de Armas, and they were doing nothing to fend off those rumors. Fans first started speculating about a romance in early March when the duo was photographed all over Cuba, where she's from. Then, on March 8, People magazine said they were making out at the Havana airport and "definitely dating." A few days later, on March 11, The Daily Mail published photos of them on a beach vacation in Costa Rica. The new couple didn't hide their romance in Los Angeles after they'd returned from vacation.

Michelle Williams is a married woman. On March 23, Us Weekly reported that the Oscar-nominated actress secretly tied the knot with director Thomas Kail, whom she's expecting a baby with. The confirmation came a week after he was spotted wearing a gold wedding band on his ring finger in New York City. Michelle and Thomas confirmed in late December 2019 that they had gotten engaged after working together on "Fosse/Verdon."

Motherhood times two

Jenna Dewan is now a mother of two. On March 10, the actress revealed that she and her fiance, Steve Kazee, recently welcomed a son. "And just like that, our hearts exploded into all of eternity and beyond," she captioned a photo showing her cradling her newborn. "Welcome to the world you little angel! Callum Michael Rebel Kazee 3/6/20." Steve later posted a photo of the little guy grasping his finger. "In an instant our universe burst wide open and nothing would ever be the same. Welcome to earth star child," he wrote.

"Judge Judy" Sheindlin is ending her 25-year partnership with CBS after finishing the current season of her popular court TV show. The reality TV star will soon start a new show called "Judy Justice" on another network. After Judy's March 2 announcement, a report said she and CBS have been at odds behind the scenes for months. The ongoing disagreements led her to call it quits, TMZ said, noting that Judy's feud with the network began after Les Moonves was ousted in 2018. Judy and the new top dogs "haven't been seeing eye-to-eye on a lot of things she and Les were square on," the website said.

James Lipton, the beloved creator and host of "Inside The Actor's Studio," passed away at the age of 93 on March 2. James was an industry icon and was completely respected by actors and fellow media members alike. He shared some 18 Emmy nominations for "Inside the Actors Studio" with his fellow producers. After the show reached mainstream success, James was parodied on "Saturday Night Live" and "The Simpsons." James stepped down as host of the show in 2018 after 25 years at the helm. He interviewed over 250 guests. After his death, many celebrities and colleagues paid tribute to him. Andy Cohen called him "a warm, meticulous man with a great appreciation of the arts and wicked sense of humor."
