Julianne Moore
Not bad for a ginger who used to be teased with the moniker "Freckleface Strawberry" and got her start in soaps. After being raised around the world — she completed high school in Germany — thanks to her father's military service, Julianne Moore graduated from Boston University's School of Performing Arts in 1983 and then headed to the Big Apple to pursue acting. She won a Daytime Emmy for her first major gig, playing twins on As The World Turns in the late '80s. (She returned to the role in 2010.) She made her film debut in 1990 in Tales of The Darkside and hasn't stopped adding to her varied résumé since. Think The Hand That Rocks The Cradle, Short Cuts, The Fugitive, Safe, Jurassic Park sequel, The Big Lebowski, Hannibal, A Single Man, The Kids Are All Right, 30 Rock and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay. She has been nominated for an Academy Award five times (The End Of The Affair, Far From Heaven, Boogie Nights, The Hours and 2015's Still Alice, for which she also took home a Golden Globe.) She won an Emmy for portraying Sarah Palin in Game Change and turned her real-life experience with bullying into two children's books. Previously married to actor John Gould Rubin, she has two children, Caleb and Liv, with director Bart Freundlich, whom she met on his 1997 film The Myth Of Fingerprints.
