Tom Cruise has believed he was destined for success since long before his resume reflected anything of the sort. Take it from a guy who knows firsthand. Rob Lowe, who starred alongside Tom in 1983's "The Outsiders," recently shared an anecdote about working with Tom on the classic production that sheds some (rather hilarious) light on the kind of guy Tom was as a young actor. It seems the two were sent to New York City after "surviving" their initial auditions for another round of trials. When they got there, Rob said Tom basically had a tantrum when he was told he had to bunk up with Rob. "So it was me and Tom Cruise and Emilio [Estevez] and C. Thomas Howell," Rob told Dax Shepard on the latest edition of his "Armchair Expert" podcast (via People)."[It was the] first time I ever stayed at The Plaza Hotel, and we check-in and Tom finds out that we're sharing a room and just goes ballistic," Rob continued, laughing. "To me, what's great about the story is, there's certain people who have always been who they are, and that element of them has powered them to where they are today and the rest is history. And the notion that an 18-year-old actor with a walk-on part in 'Endless Love' and like a 7th lede in 'Taps' could have that kind of like wherewithal. … I remember going, 'Wow, this guy is the real deal,'" he marveled. "I mean, it made me laugh, it was gnarly. But in the end of it, you can't argue with the results. He's had his eye on the ball since day one." Tom, who's now famous for doing most of his own stunts in the "Mission: Impossible" movies, also showed early signs he was up for such antics. According to Rob, Tom was "relentless" and competitive about nailing stunts for the movie. "He ended up being the only one who could do a backflip," Rob noted. "It is in the movie 'The Outsiders' for no reason. Just to do it."

Something about the current quarantine is really working wonders for Martha Stewart's Instagram game. A few weeks ago, after leaving a nonsensical comment on someone's post about raising chickens, she explained herself with another comment that read, "what a mess, I have been drinking." Over the weekend, the lifestyle guru popped up with another memorable comment. Her pal Snoop Dogg shared a video on Sunday in which he was showing off a homemade pepperoni pizza he'd made. The video opens with a shot of the dish sitting on the stove before a hand passes over the pie with a plate holding two slices and Snoop warns, "They're going fast." Cue an apparently unimpressed Martha, who chimed in with this zinger: "Snoop looks like your first pizzap." The comment triggered a wave of crying-laughing Emojis and general amazement from Snoops's followers, one of whom declared, "@marthastewart48 is a G." And that may be the case — she did once tell CBS News her prison nickname was "M. Diddy." But we like to think the dig was Martha's delayed-response comeback to a crack Snoop made when they were on "Ellen" together back in February. At the time, Martha was tasked with giving Snoop and Billie Joe Armstrong a pizza-making lesson. At one point during the segment, Snoop got an easy laugh by joking, "You ain't gotta tell me how to make dough, I been makin' dough for a long time." Clearly, not long enough for Martha.

Back in February, Gwyneth Paltrow hosted a makeup-free get-together for friends including Demi Moore and artist Alexandra Grant. Turns out, skipping makeup, which so many of us are suddenly doing because of stay-at-home mandates, is Gwyneth's preference. "I've never been a makeup person really. I always love not wearing makeup. For me, makeup has always meant that I'm going to work," the 47-year-old GOOP founder tells People. "I went to an all-girls school and we didn't wear makeup. We weren't dressing up for anyone. All through junior high and high school, makeup never became part of my routine. And I think part of that is because I was always a little bit of a tomboy. I like the feeling of having clean skin." Gwyneth says that vibe is what she was after when her team created the GOOPGLOW line, which she says is ideal for anyone who wants to "look naturally glowy and dewy" without makeup. It doesn't hurt that beauty standards are becoming more inclusive, as Gwyneth points out to People. "I always think there's sort of an irony that when you really accept yourself — physically — is when you have gray hair," she muses. "I do think there's a truth to that."

Anthony Fauci gives two thumbs-up to Brad Pitt's 'SNL' impersonation
In case you were wondering, Dr. Anthony Fauci did see Brad Pitt's impersonation of him on "Saturday Night Live" over the weekend — and he loved it. Speaking to Telemundo this week, the nation's leading coronavirus expert was asked about Brad's bit, which opened the show. "I think he did great," Fauci said, according to USAToday. "I'm a great fan of Brad Pitt, and that's the reason why when people ask me who I would like to play me I mention Brad Pitt. He's one of my favorite actors. I think he did a great job." The skit ended with Brad removing his Fauci getup and thanking the infectious disease specialist for his "calm and your clarity in this unnerving time." He then thanked the frontline and health care workers who have been risking their lives each day during the pandemic. Said Fauci: "I think he showed that he is really a classy guy when at the end he took off his hair and thanked me and all of the health care workers. So, not only is he a really great actor but he is actually a classy person."

Post Malone's Nirvana tribute-slash-COVID relief benefit on Friday, April 24, raised more than $4. 3 million for the U.N. Foundation's Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund for The World Health Organization. (And that figure doesn't even account for the 2:1 matching donation Google has promised up to $5 million.) The YouTube event wasn't just a massive financial success — it also earned high praise from some notoriously tough critics, including Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic and Kurt Cobain's widow, Hole singer Courtney Love. Both Krist and Courtney commended Post and his bandmates, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, bassist Brian Lee and guitarist Nick Mack, for their gritty, raucous covers of 15 Nirvana classics, including "Heart-Shaped Box" and "Come As You Are." A couple of days later, Francie, who People describes as a "51-year-old rancher from Colorado," shared a note that read: "You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have! So you cling to God & to His word with all your might because it's all you know to do. Then one day I looked up from the ashes and there you stood. Wow God!" In the caption, she quoted the Bible, and wrote, "@duanechapman I love you!"

On the heels of John Krasinski's Instagram Live prom comes news Oprah Winfrey, Awkwafina, Jennifer Garner Miley Cyrus, Lil Nas X, Simone Biles and more stars are teaming up with Facebook and the 'Gram for "#Graduation 2020: Facebook and Instagram Celebrate the Class of 2020." THR reports the event will be livestreamed on both social media platforms on May 15 beginning at 2 pm E.T. Oprah is reportedly handling the keynote commencement speech, with other celebs speaking as well. Miley's slated to perform her 2009 hit, "The Climb." Meanwhile, on the same day at 12 p.m. ET, the company Her Campus will stream "I'm Still Graduating," a similar event featuring Eva Longoria , Rashida Jones, Margaret Cho and Liam Payne, among other big names, according to THR. iHeart Radio is also putting together, "Commencement: Speeches for the Class of 2020," a podcast special scheduled for May 15, as well. That one currently boasts speeches for seniors recorded by the likes of Hillary Clinton, Jimmy Fallon, John Legend and more.

That's why she shared some unsolicited advice with the region's newest famous residents, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan, who are now living in the posh Serra Retreat area, according to Page Six. "I mean unless they own a different private beach, you can't go to those beaches," Lindsay told Andy Cohen on his "Radio Andy" show this week. "You can't even surf out far enough. It's just really hard to do anything." Though she said it's true "everyone is more at home" now anyway because of the pandemic, Lindsay urged the Sussexes to, "just get drivers" for their stint on the West Coast.

Jimmy Kimmel surprised another healthcare worker on the front lines of the pandemic with some celebrity love this week. On Monday's edition of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" the comic introduced ER nurse TJ Riley, a COVID-19 survivor who works at the Jacobi Medical Center in New York City and presented him with $10,000 as a thank-you, according to Rolling Stone. Jimmy then welcomed the other part of his gift to TJ — Dave Grohl, who turns out to be TJ's rock idol. "I feel like I'm having a coronavirus dream," the nurse said, prompting Dave to laugh before picking up his guitar and playing "Everlong" for him.
